Jared Curtis flips from UGA!
However this goes, it’s been a tough day for UGA recruiting! Jermaine Mitchell has just flipped from UGA to Arizona State. Mitchell is the number 1 overall juco recruit on 247. Another disappointing happening as we could all always use another stud offensive lineman!

He has been OK. Let's hope we upgrade to someone who likes vertical passes more.

Jared Curtis flips from UGA!
I do think that this is a big possibility. It could be that he wants to stay home, but I wouldn’t doubt Vandy boosters having opened up their checkbooks so to speak. They have gotten a little taste of success, and it certainly tastes good! Either way, I can’t blame either. I do hope it works out for him whatever he decides, but I honestly think his QB career would be better served in Athens.

I gotta say, I see this and thought you said Mark Helfrich and nearly fell out of my chair!!!

Sounds like big NIL money to me.

Jared Curtis flips from UGA!
I couldn’t blame him for wanting to play for the home team. It’s also a great school, which is still important to some, and they have shown that they can compete in the SEC. Of course, even if he signed with Vandy, he could be playing somewhere else as early as next season…

Stein will be coaching in the playoffs according to multiple reports and I would be surprised is Tosh didn’t do the same, if he decides to leave.

My concern is if both Stein and Lupoi both leave and don't coach in the playoffs.

Stein vs. Stein Offense Statistics
Oregon’s defense is also better in 2025 by almost every meaningful statistic: PPG: 14:9 (vs. 16.2) Total YPG: 249 (vs. 284) TO: 16 (vs. 16) Sacks: 39 (vs 39) Perhaps Coach Lanning wanted Coach Stein to be more conservative given the first year QB and better defense? Limit turnovers = higher probability of winning. Coach Stein has done a tremendous job of developing Dante Moore. While he’s not a finished product, he is so much better than he was at UCLA and even earlier this season.

BIG TEN SIGNING DAY
Thanks, Jon. I no longer trust ESPN and their biased coverage so I’ll have to check out the B1G Network signing day coverage.

Offensive Coordinator Candidates
One thing Dan is considering as well, Stein is our QB coach. If the guy coming in can't coach QBs we might have to hire a good stand alone QB coach. We did that once before with Surfer Dude. I liked him. He was Justin Herbert's first QB coach and wanted to start Justin from day one. It took him 4 games to convince MH, and Justin got his first start in game 5 vs. the Huskies.

Stein vs. Stein Offense Statistics
The big thing that jumps out to me is QB experience.

Stein vs. Stein Offense Statistics
Stein's offense statistics. ** Data below includes both conference and non-conference games: ** Data below includes only conference games: Some might say, "But let's not count the two bad weather games." I disagree with excluding these games, but for fun, if I only count conference games and exclude the Wisconsin/Iowa games, the average "Off. Points per Game" is 31.8 ppg. Still less than prior year. I'll not make any conclusions, but welcome the OBD Forum's comments.

Excellent full post, but I have to give an "amen" to this statement. I also hope for an external hire. Don't want a watered down version of Stein's offense.

That's like a dog returning to his vomit for Penn State. We interviewed him before we interviewed Dan Lanning, and said not interested, his ceiling wasn't high enough as a recruiter and team culture builder. He would literally be Franklin 2.0.

This could be the best solution for Novosad. I like it. He has given 3 years to the Ducks and is worthy to be starting somewhere. Being able to stay with Will Stein, (who recruited him and has been his QB coach the whole time at Oregon), will be a seamless transition. Hopefully he will be able to start at Kentucky, chew up the SEC, and have a great career in the League.

I missed Kenny Dillingham more than I'll miss Stein. Like Justin Herbert, Kenny saved us from falling to the depths of mediocrity at a critical time. Could you imagine if we ran an offense for the guys we wished we had, like our defense did? We would have been lucky to be .500 Dan's first year. Once that high efficiency offensive blueprint was set, Stein just had to maintain it for two years. Then this year we've seen how long it took him to adapt to the players we have now that have dramatically different strengths and weaknesses than the first two years. I'm not looking for continuity with our next OC I'm looking for open minded flexibility and past production that wasn't dependent on an outlier gifted QB making them look better than they are. Coach Lanning should generate standard program terminology, naming and signals for our Offense and Defense, and require the incoming OC and DC to learn them, rather than forcing everyone else on the team to adapt to the new OC/DC's preferred terminology, naming and signals. The turnover is likely going to be higher for coordinators than even players, so minimize the impacts of those transitions.

OT - Big Ten coaching scuttlebutt - the lead candidate for the Penn State job is BYU's Kalani Sitake. Heck of a coach, but no experience east of the Rockies. BYU HC since 2016. Before BYU, he was an assistant for Whittingham at Utah. Before Utah, he was an assistant at Oregon State. ON TOPIC - The coach with the best record in the history of Kentucky? Bear Bryant, who went 60-23-5. In Bear's last season at Kentucky, with Babe Parilli at QB, the Wildcats won the SEC title. In the same season, Kentucky's CBB coach, Adolph Rupp, won yet another SEC title. In appreciation, Kentucky gave the Bear a new watch and gave Adolph a new Caddy. Coach Bryant said, 'So long.' In 1960, at Boston University Stadium, I watched Babe Parilli start at QB for the opening game played by the Boston Patriots. For younger Forum fans, 1960 was not BE, Before Electricity. 😁
