My Best Duck Watching Companion Passed Away...
Sorry for your loss. I know the sting when you lose a companion, just lost mine a month ago, Murphy 17 1/2 year old Yorkie.

My Best Duck Watching Companion Passed Away...
I am sorry for your loss woundedknees. It’s been about 14 years since we lost our dog. So many great memories combined with the sadness of losing him even now. You and your family are in thoughts.

My Best Duck Watching Companion Passed Away...
Yeah, I know she was actually my daughter' diabetic alert dog, but Daisy (yup, named after THAT Duck) never missed a game. She watched with us, and eagerly participated in our beach football games (Heaven forbid you missed a pass, or fumbled. You'd better be quick and agile!) I coached soccer for many seasons, and I had trained her to handle a ball well enough that I often took her to practice, and used her to train inexperienced players on defensive positioning and tactics. Kids didn't even realize they were actually acquiring skills because they had so much fun. I'll definitely miss her the rest of the season, as I watch OBD march to glory. I have a feeling it just won't seem quite the same.

Is Oregon Physical Enough for the B1G?
"The four Pac-12 schools were brought into the B1G because the media wanted them. Not so much the conference. Many schools in the conference were resentful about having to travel to the west coast last year and I can't imagine their feels have changed too much this year." The 4 west coast teams bring west coast football to the midwest stone age. The SEC added Texas and Oklahoma. Have to keep up with the Joneses. Without the west coast teams, B1G would have turned into Ohio St and a bunch of stiffs. The Big 12 just added 'more of the same'. I'd like to see the B1G add North Carolina and Clemson. Question of the Day: Why can't the traditional Big10 teams have good quarterbacks and skills players? (other than Ohio St) Indiana's transfer QB doesn't count.

Is Oregon Physical Enough for the B1G?
Physical enough? Mostly yes. I'm not sure if running a 4 -2 defensive front with edge players will work out? Especially calling plays that put them in pass coverage. Maybe that kind of thing is getting too cute? I think they will need players at those positions who can handle offensive tackles. What would this D be like if Kayvon Thib. and Deforest Buckner were on the edges??? I can't wait to see Tank start playing. I'd also like to them get more athletic at LB. But other than that, they have the physical tools for the Big 10. Are they big enough at TE? Kendre Harrison is coming. Last year, Derrick Harmon and Jordan Burch were monsters. Right about now, I am wondering if the Ducks are smart enough? They have three more games to get it together before the playoffs. I don't expect them to lose any more the regular season due to their defense and ability to run the ball. As a side note, Penn St lost their TE and a really good pass rusher DE from last year. I thought that they would take them a step back. Gotta keep replenishing if you want to stay on top in the Big 10.

Oregon Not Championship Caliber?
They certainly didn't give a championship effort against an inferior physical team in Indiana ON OUR HOME FIELD. So if you want a championship team you have to have both the mental and physical, plus some luck. So I would say no, at this moment the Ducks are not in title contention but as we have no actual idea who is good beyond a couple of teams, I guess we might win a game or two in the playoffs if we make it.

Is Oregon Physical Enough for the B1G?
A decent portion of the national media is on board with Oregon being rough enough. The observant ones have been paying attention to Oregon in the Pac-12. But so many in the B1G that are either B1G centric or team centric just don't know Oregon or seem to want to know Oregon. The four Pac-12 schools were brought into the B1G because the media wanted them. Not so much the conference. Many schools in the conference were resentful about having to travel to the west coast last year and I can't imagine their feels have changed too much this year.

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
No penalties? I was often a suspect, but never arrested. But, No Holds? Thanks for reminding me of my high school love life. 🤬

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
Amazing to see, but there a a total of 3 former PAC 12 refs, including Chris Coyte, Francisco Villar, and Steve Strimling known to be working B1G games. Maybe it's like a 'novel virus' infection.

I'm disappointed that I didn't get to see it.

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
Officiating is difficult, at any level. That said, I believe unequivocally that the officiating at Iowa was horrendous. Just horrible. Glad we got the win. We are definitely "that team out west". I believe we will soon, if not already, become team most hated by all in the B1G.

Is Oregon Physical Enough for the B1G?
As I watched the Duck-Hawkeye game, I noticed that broadcaster Gary Danielson spoke positively--and repeatedly--about the toughness of Oregon's defense. Forgive me for being optimistic, but if the truth is clear to him, I believe it will eventually be acknowledged even by superficial observers.

Oregon Not Championship Caliber?
I will not dump on one SEC grad dissing on the Ducks without giving credit to Alabama grad Greg McElroy. Greg was effusive in his praise for both OBD and Iowa for the battle they engaged in in Iowa City. No SEC nonsense here. Greg's Always College Football podcast can be viewed on YouTube and is on several ESPN channels on Tuesday before the PO rankings show. GRIND the GOPHERS!

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
Before last Saturday's game I suggested that one difference you would see would be the physical nature of Iowa DB's in covering receivers. They seem to body-up on receivers then dare the refs to call pass interference. Feeling, the refs won't call them all, so take the chance. Due to the weather, there were not a lot of passes thrown, especially into coverage, so that didn't really materialize. I do believe they missed holding calls. In both cases, I think there is a philosophy within conferences with an emphasis of what will be called, and what will be "let them play." I believe we also saw it with Pac12 basketball which was more attuned to calling fouls (except in McKale Arena) in comparison to other conferences. I believe it hurt Pac12 teams when they got to the tournament to try to adapt to rougher play.

Oregon Not Championship Caliber?
Given the relative fair number of top-end losses the SEC has out of conference in 2025, it gets a bit more hypocritical than usual. If Georgia loses to GaTech we’d have Georgia, Alabama, and Texas all having OOC losses. Given how these teams have dominated in the SEC, one could argue the SEC is a top-heavy conference dominated by unproven teams that didn’t dominate out of conference. Oh, throw in WSU taking Ole Miss to the wire, the same Cougs that lost to Beavis. How is this the clear-cut best conference in 2025?

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
Great post and comments. On the other hand, the Back Judge in Indiana at Penn State was in the perfect position to make the TD call on the winning toe-tap catch. Great comment by DM. I prefer refs letting things go over watching a flag fest. B1G Policy - "Coach submission: Coaches can send plays with questionable calls to the Big Ten's coordinator of officials." Coaches can also stay up on Christmas Eve to see if Santa shows up. 😁

Have the Pac 12 Zebras Replaced Their Patches but Not Their Stripes?
sUCLA, USuC, mutts, and Oregon musta brought some of that "Crap-12" officiating east with them. What do we call the officiating now? "B1G Crap"?

Oregon Trenches Showing the Nation They Are...'Sneaky-Good'
Our defense is the opposite of bend don't break this year. I'm not sure what it is called but I think it is intentional. Our team is fast enough and good enough in the secondary that we play more aggressive in some ways that leave us more vulnerable to occasional dagger plays, but on the whole is very effective.

Oregon Trenches Showing the Nation They Are...'Sneaky-Good'
The defensive stats are amazing but for some reason the defense doesn’t seem as dominant as they indicate. I wonder if it’s the result of a few key plays/drives over the course of the game? They seem to have trouble closing out some games (e.g., Penn State, Iowa) after absolutely dominating the majority of the game. In the Iowa game it was a result of a couple of pass coverage breakdowns by LBs and the safeties, and a bad defense call on 4th and goal.
