I raise this toast to coach Samples, Assistant Head Coach and Running Backs Coach. The running backs UO has are the best in the nation. The room is deep, varied and productive. Coach Samples has: Recruited top backs with complementary skills and styles. Taught his players to follow blocking, read defenders, break tackles, and block skillfully. Managed the players and the room for high rushing yards per game and yards per carry. He knows his players and uses them very effectively. May coach Samples be recognized and honored for his skills and contributions to Ducks football.

Exactly. This issue is tough to sort out. I am not sure the TV package in 2031 is going to be as lucrative. USC is delusional in my opinion. They aren't garnering any kind of viewership that warrants their outburst. Outside if Ohio State and Michigan, no one in the big is drawing consistently huge numbers. That concerns me. It's why I keep harping on USC, Iowa, Wisconsin, Nebraska and the Fuskies becoming national contenders. The B1G is not even close to the ratings powerhouse the SEC is. I believe that is why this "payday loan" deal is a motivating factor. Heck, Ohio State is the 7th most watched team in the nation. So, the number one team in the country is the 7th most watched team. People watch Tennessee more than they watch Ohio State. Do you think teams like Michigan State get a little nervous about revenue? How about Maryland? I'm not saying his deal is the answer, but I am concerned, and OBD are the ranked 15th in viewership. To be objective, 9 B1G and 10 SEC teams are part of the 25 most watched teams, but the SEC boasts 8 of the top 10. Disney has a great plan, they lock down the mid day and evening slots with pretty damn good matchups. Iowa at USC isn't going to pull as many eyeballs as Oklahoma and Alabama this week. And UCLA is definitely not going to draw fans like the Ohio State contingency. I'll be impressed if 3M people watch that game (against what, 8M for Texas at Georgia?). Will Fox, NBC and CBS pony up another monster TV deal for the B1G in 2031? I'd say the lower tier of the B1G is trying to secure survival amidst the threat of a Super Conference throwing them to the wolves. A 20 year deal helps out their cause, no?

The biggest thing missing in all of this is why we need this extra money in the first place. Is the conference going bankrupt due to paying students, or have grand plans to expand and improve the product in some weird way, or...?

This is the biggest crapshoot game this season. Minnesota is wildly inconsistent, we don't what the weather will be like and we don't know whether our players will really show up. The OSU/ND Fiesta Bowl game was a blast to watch. Even diehard Duck fans had to enjoy the ND beatdown by the Beavis. Leading up to the game all the pundits were saying the Beav's didn't belong in that game. Turned out they did.

I've got to hawk in SC's eyes. Close win by Iowa, and it moves up, wins out, and is in the top 25 at season's end. A needed top 25 wn for what we hope will be an 11-1 Ducks team. Again, with a close loss, I think a 7-3 SC will still be a Week 13 top 25 opponent; I don't want SC traveling to Autzen with any PO hopes left. But, I certainly understand the other POV. Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi would love to tarnish the Golden Domers' playoff hopes and send Notre Dame home in the playoff pits. We'll SEC, but it could be B1G if the Panthers beat ND and open up an at-large playoff spot. Saturday Games - 12:30 PM BTN - No. 21 - 6-3 - Iowa at No. 17 - 7-2 - USC - This is the only Week 12 Big Ten game with two ranked opponents playing one another. (And SC is probably the only B1G team rooting for Notre Dame.) USC -6.5 is favored in this game and is still alive for a playoff bid. Since 2003, Iowa coach Kirk Ferentz and his Hawkeyes have won twenty road games over favored opponents. (If you stick around long enough ...) It's concerning that OBD has to return from a Saturday road game to play a team that was off last week on Friday night. But it's also a B1G ask for Iowa to travel to LA and be ready to play after pulling off a defeat from the jaws of victory with three seconds remaining in last Saturday's game in Iowa City. Atticus Sappington's walk-off field goal kicked 70,000 Hawkeyes fans' playoff hopes squarely in the crotch. Other than for a few delighted Duck quacks, Kinnick Stadium was a Sound of Silence. I'm cheering for Iowa on Saturday. A close game likely means both teams remained ranked, with Iowa having a good chance of finishing in the top 25 should it win out. Selfishly, but without apology, I do not want USC to have a playoff possibility incentive when Troy travels to Eugene. OBD would like to see UW at 8-3 in Week 14. ESPN - Florida at No. 7 - 9-1 - Ole Miss - An up-front and close personal audition for Coach Lane Kiffin. Will the Florida AD be allowed to attend the game? Last Saturday, UF no showed at Kentucky. This week will a Gator come to Ade Florida with its punch? That they were. The 1 year rental team (2000) before the portal even existed. We’ll never know. They certainly seemed very good but that was a weird year for the PAC. Only OBD, UW, and Beavis had more than 6 wins overall that season. Beavis only beat two teams that ended up ranked after the bowls. 12 team playoff would have been amazing that year.
