Smoo Beats The U!
Yahoo Sports says it best: In a town brimming with the illusion of wealth and surgically altered body parts, where it sometimes seems like only the tans are real, Miami has perpetrated yet another scam on the American people. Pretending to be an elite program isn’t exactly a crime, but goodness gracious are the Hurricanes good at making their fans feel swindled.

Ducks Remain at No. 6 in Both AP & Coaches Polls...
We do need to avoid the 8 - 9 seed as the second round would be against No. 1.

Beavis Can't Sink Any Lower....Right? WRONG.
Field rushing when beating a team that was at .500. I guess they are trying hard for a resume to attract a good JC coach.

Are We Sleeping On An Elite Oregon D?
It's bye weekend and without an actual game to ponder, I've been thinking about how good the Ducks actually are. Statistically, the Oregon D is very good but lurking just below the stats is some info they may make them elite. In the category of points allowed per game in the BIG, OBD find themselves in fourth place behind tOSU, Indy and Iowa. Oregon has given up 85 points in the BIG and 108 over all. If you brake that down between qtrs 1-3 and the 4th separately, some interesting info emerges. Below, I've done just that. Team Qtrs 1-3 4 Total Mon St 6 7 13 Ok St 0 3 3 NW 0 14 14 OSU 7 0 7 PSU 3 14 17 excludes OT points IU 20 10 30 Rut 3 7 10 Wis 0 7 7 Total 39 62 101 BIG Totals 26 52 78 Some conclusions. OBD have given up only 26 points in 15 quarters (5 games quarters 1-3) against BIG competition. That's less than 2 points per quarter. Two thirds of the total points given up against the BIG have been in the 4th quarter. Of the 52 fourth quarter points given up, only 24 were with the game still in doubt (Indy and PSU). I've never seen defensive numbers like these for the Ducks. If the offense can find more consistency and the D holds steady, this may be a championship caliber team.

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
The Ducks have the hardest B1G row left to hoe. Oregon's next four B1G opponents are a combined 24-9: at Iowa, Minnesota, USC, and at UW. USC - Northwestern, Iowa, at Oregon, UCLA Michigan - Bye, at NW, at Maryland, Ohio State Ohio State - at Purdue, UCLA, Rutgers, and at Michigan Indiana - at Penn State, Wisconsin, Bye, and at Purdue Iowa - Oregon, at USC, Michigan State, and at Nebraska UW - at Wisconsin, Purdue, at UCLA, and Oregon Oregon has road games left at Iowa and UW. Tuesday night, both teams could and should be in the PO committee's top 25. Fortunately, Indiana has a Bye before facing the Boilermakers on the road. 😁 Go Ducks!

Iowa Game Starts at 12:30 PT
With the game on CBS, this is an interesting location. Fox will broadcast Iowa State at TCU at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. Fox will broadcast Northwestern at USC on Friday, 11/7, at 6 PM Pacific. The broadcast of this game is not USC at Northwestern on 11/8 at 9 AM Pacific, as shown in error on a number of sites. I do not see a B1G game being broadcast this Saturday at 9 AM Pacific.

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
It is fun to have a guest writer, and Don has been a loyal reader of this forum, as well as a great Oregon and Iowa fan. Superb information, and thanks Don!

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
Thank you, Don, that was a Dandy! Iowa Drinking Game to play if you want to stay sober: Chug one down when an announcer refers to Kirk Ferentz as having the most B1G L's in the history of the conference. (The number is 89, which OBD hopefully turns into 90 on Saturday.) If you want to over-serve yourself: Any mention of the Children's Hospital, including waving at the Hospital, Woody Hayes, Amos Alonzo Stagg, the Broyles Award, Phil Parker and his D-Fence, Grono's accomplishments in FCS football, TEs in the NFL, and the biggest number of games won by a B1G coach. 😁 60 degrees in November! YES! Rain to slow down OBD's athletes. In 2025, I already watched this movie and gave it 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Thanks again, Don. This will not be an easy out. 2-loss Iowa has plenty to play for. Kick Kirk Over the Ferentz, all the way to Ames!

Give Mari-oh-oh a break. He made my Bye, and now I get to wallow in it 🤪, while thinking of the Canes trip to Pitt on November 29th! Dear Miami Boosters, please keep throwing Millions of Dollars at Mario, and kids who have never suited up for a college game, and a guy who led the SEC in INTs in 2024. Don't give up on him. In 2025, your boy Beck is now 2nd in the ACC behind some Sap, with 9-Picks, and he's still in the race to be the ACC's most Prolific Picker. 🤑 About that Car, Son. 🤬

Oregon - Iowa Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Bye week gives Ducks new breathing room in College Football Playoff chaseWhen Hitler invaded the Soviet Union during World War II, Winston Churchill referenced an ancient Sanskrit proverb, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." On a much smaller scale Week 10 of the College Football season invokes the same sentiment. With a Saturday off Duck fans watched as No. 10 Miami fell out of bed against unranked SMU, No. 9 Vanderbilt lost on the road to Texas, and No. 8 Georgia Tech dropped a road game at NC State, 48-36. Georgia needed a blown replay review to escape 24-20 against 3-5 Florida, and Notre Dame found themselves in a 12-10 game at 1-7 Boston College before pulling away with two late touchdowns. The losses and close calls strengthen Oregon's hold on a playoff berth. Suddenly 10-2 looks pretty solid, and an 11-1 finish would guarantee a home playoff game and a seed in the 5-8 range. Oregon - Iowa Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Game time set for Oregon at Iowa, and it's the best-case scenarioThe networks announced their schedule for the Big Ten window games Saturday afternoon, and it's perfect for the Ducks making a long road trip. Kickoff for Oregon at Iowa is set for 12:30 p.m. PT Saturday November 8 on CBS. That means the Ducks don't have the insane body clock challenge of a 9 a.m. road game, and they avoided the logistical nightmare of a night game ahead of a Friday game the week following. They already have a 6:00 p.m. PT kick against Minnesota in Autzen Stadium on November 14, a national TV game on Fox. Big Noon Kickoff will be on site for Saturday's game at Kinnick Stadium, the 7-1, No. 6 Ducks versus the 6-2 Hawkeyes, who may be ranked after a shakeup in the polls yesterday. Week 10 saw losses by No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Vanderbilt, No.10 Miami, No.14 Tennessee, No. 17 Cincinnati and No. 22 Houston. Georgia and Michigan made narrow escapes. Ohio State vs. Penn State, & All the Other 'Non-Oregon' Games to Discuss
Awww, Schucks! 🙃Thank you for the kind words. It's a privilege to be associated with the friends of OBD on this great Forum. With Boise being blasted, I know that somewhere LaGarrette 'Sugar Ray' Blount is also smiling. 😁 Let's Spit in a Hawk's Eye!
