It seems to me that a two loss Notre Dame team should be in ahead of a three loss Alabama team.

Love it! As to weather, it’s true they have terrible weather in VA in December, but they have pretty good weather most of their season, I’d give us a slight weather edge.

It didn't appear yesterday that Ohio State learned much from watching the tape. Indiana's defense was able to duplicate much of the strategy they used against Oregon. We read so much about Mendoza, but their D may be the bigger story. Coach Ryan Day post-game: “Very disappointed. Just overall with how we played. Didn’t play very well in the situations, third downs were not very good, not very good in the red zone at the end. I thought Indiana played really well, did a great job” On the team’s sacks it allowed: “They obviously brought different pressures and twists, but that was something they had done all season. We didn’t handle it well at all...This is a major lesson for this team, it can come down to one play or two plays or three plays that decide a game like this. This is a tough lesson to learn. We have to be more efficient across the board.”

If Novasad was not healthy during the Wisconsin game, that is the only valid argument for him actually being ahead of Thomas, and even that is iffy because Thomas came in first for mop up duty in other games too. Brock can play winning football for us as Lanning says. He can't make some of those game winning throws Moore can, but maybe he could make some better decisions at times too that makes the drop off not as significant. Thomas is a bit more of baller than Moore if we are being honest.

They'll probably be out on the West coast for several days before the game. School's out for everyone at that point. They'd pay for the use of a practice field somewhere, probably a high school, and get used to the weather and time zone a bit. Not saying it won't be a factor just less of one.

Don't forget the 3 hour time zone change for JMU. They won't be used to that.

This was always the Goldilocks scenario. I'm so glad it's actually happening! I'm not going to sweat injuries. We've had more players injured on bye weeks in practice than in games. It's going to be a lot of fun for the fans in the stands at Autzen.

Should we start an over/under on ticket prices for this home playoff game?? I'm starting at $300. As I am looking at this bracket, Oregon received the absolute BEST seeding they could possibly have gotten! I am EXCITED about this path!

Ohio State might have the slightly harder round 2 game as the #2 seed. Georgia will probably play an Ole Miss team that is in turmoil following the Kiffin departure. I could see Miami really fired up and they do have talent, especially on defense. Of course, their HC is a liability but is Ryan Day that much better…

Actually there is some question and thus this thread. Did Brock Thomas earn it because the coaches knew that Novosad was transferring out or he was a bit banged up? It’s one thing to put a QB in the game when you know the other team can’t score and the game plan is to run the ball. Would Coach Lanning feel as confident with Brock against Indiana, Ohio State or Georgia’s defense? I and others are not so sure…

There is no question that Brock Thomas earned his ranking as #2 QB and if he is called on, Dan Lanning feels confident that he will do a good job.

Weather won’t be a factor. Harrisonburg, VA is colder than Eugene this time of year. The biggest factor will be talent.

I really like Oregon’s seeding and potential matchups. (We got the Penn State path this year.) Texas Tech looked the weakest of the top 4 seeds and Ohio State and Georgia would have to play on the other side of the bracket in the semi-finals. We all know that Indiana is a really good football team but we’ve played them once so we have some familiarity. But Miami jumped in over Notre Dame and BYU. I guess opening week games matter after all. Projecting ahead, Danny Kanell just forecasted that Oregon will win it all. For what that's worth.

Lagway has been in and out due to injuries since his true freshman season. He missed most of spring, and summer camps due to a nagging shoulder injury. I don't put any of that on Napier, but I do put it on the QB coach. Which goes back to my point of hiring the right guys. If you want to give the QB coach a pass, and still put it on Lagway. I understand, but a true leader would bench a guy after a five interception game. Napier refused to have a conversation, he wouldn't consider it. I understand Lagway saved him last year, but his decision to not even consider a backup due to NIL, or not having a backup prepared ,isn't something a P4 coach does. At least not a good one. It was clear since game two, that Lagway wasn't ready. His footwork, his mobility was absent. There wasn't even an attempt to incorporate some 'get right' throws' that you see coaches do with young QBs, to get their confidence up.

I'm not sure it made any sense for the committee to move Miami up two spots over Notre Dame in a week when both teams were idle, but I like the idea of Mari∅ facing off against a rusty Buckeyes team in round 2. Anything to get tOSU out of the bracket, and Mari∅ has a history of winning some big games (and losing so many gimmes).

Apparently, FanDuel leaked the spreads for the first round of the playoff. Miami is out. Notre Dame is in. Oregon opens up with JMU -20.5. This could all be fake since the seeds are messed up. NOTE: Yep. It was fake. Mario is going to the show.

AL beat GA in GA. IMO that's what will get them in the CFP. Better SOC and SOR than ND or Miami.
