Iowa Game Starts at 12:30 PT
With the game on CBS, this is an interesting location. Fox will broadcast Iowa State at TCU at 3:30 p.m. Eastern. Fox will broadcast Northwestern at USC on Friday, 11/7, at 6 PM Pacific. The broadcast of this game is not USC at Northwestern on 11/8 at 9 AM Pacific, as shown in error on a number of sites. I do not see a B1G game being broadcast this Saturday at 9 AM Pacific.

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
It is fun to have a guest writer, and Don has been a loyal reader of this forum, as well as a great Oregon and Iowa fan. Superb information, and thanks Don!

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
Thank you, Don, that was a Dandy! Iowa Drinking Game to play if you want to stay sober: Chug one down when an announcer refers to Kirk Ferentz as having the most B1G L's in the history of the conference. (The number is 89, which OBD hopefully turns into 90 on Saturday.) If you want to over-serve yourself: Any mention of the Children's Hospital, including waving at the Hospital, Woody Hayes, Amos Alonzo Stagg, the Broyles Award, Phil Parker and his D-Fence, Grono's accomplishments in FCS football, TEs in the NFL, and the biggest number of games won by a B1G coach. 😁 60 degrees in November! YES! Rain to slow down OBD's athletes. In 2025, I already watched this movie and gave it 0% on Rotten Tomatoes. Thanks again, Don. This will not be an easy out. 2-loss Iowa has plenty to play for. Kick Kirk Over the Ferentz, all the way to Ames!

Give Mari-oh-oh a break. He made my Bye, and now I get to wallow in it 🤪, while thinking of the Canes trip to Pitt on November 29th! Dear Miami Boosters, please keep throwing Millions of Dollars at Mario, and kids who have never suited up for a college game, and a guy who led the SEC in INTs in 2024. Don't give up on him. In 2025, your boy Beck is now 2nd in the ACC behind some Sap, with 9-Picks, and he's still in the race to be the ACC's most Prolific Picker. 🤑 About that Car, Son. 🤬

Oregon - Iowa Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Bye week gives Ducks new breathing room in College Football Playoff chaseWhen Hitler invaded the Soviet Union during World War II, Winston Churchill referenced an ancient Sanskrit proverb, "The enemy of my enemy is my friend." On a much smaller scale Week 10 of the College Football season invokes the same sentiment. With a Saturday off Duck fans watched as No. 10 Miami fell out of bed against unranked SMU, No. 9 Vanderbilt lost on the road to Texas, and No. 8 Georgia Tech dropped a road game at NC State, 48-36. Georgia needed a blown replay review to escape 24-20 against 3-5 Florida, and Notre Dame found themselves in a 12-10 game at 1-7 Boston College before pulling away with two late touchdowns. The losses and close calls strengthen Oregon's hold on a playoff berth. Suddenly 10-2 looks pretty solid, and an 11-1 finish would guarantee a home playoff game and a seed in the 5-8 range. Oregon - Iowa Pre-Game Reports, Interviews, Etc.
Game time set for Oregon at Iowa, and it's the best-case scenarioThe networks announced their schedule for the Big Ten window games Saturday afternoon, and it's perfect for the Ducks making a long road trip. Kickoff for Oregon at Iowa is set for 12:30 p.m. PT Saturday November 8 on CBS. That means the Ducks don't have the insane body clock challenge of a 9 a.m. road game, and they avoided the logistical nightmare of a night game ahead of a Friday game the week following. They already have a 6:00 p.m. PT kick against Minnesota in Autzen Stadium on November 14, a national TV game on Fox. Big Noon Kickoff will be on site for Saturday's game at Kinnick Stadium, the 7-1, No. 6 Ducks versus the 6-2 Hawkeyes, who may be ranked after a shakeup in the polls yesterday. Week 10 saw losses by No. 8 Georgia Tech, No. 9 Vanderbilt, No.10 Miami, No.14 Tennessee, No. 17 Cincinnati and No. 22 Houston. Georgia and Michigan made narrow escapes. Awww, Schucks! 🙃Thank you for the kind words. It's a privilege to be associated with the friends of OBD on this great Forum. With Boise being blasted, I know that somewhere LaGarrette 'Sugar Ray' Blount is also smiling. 😁 Let's Spit in a Hawk's Eye!

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
Managing a game involves a lot of variables. Your assumption appears to assume that if the 50/50 ball is intercepted that the defender is immediately tackled. If that tackle is made 100% of the time then it might make sense. Remember, game management might get Cristy ball fired. I guess it really depends on the opponent, and if it is a close game. Momentum is a fickle thing. I can’t recall that many games where that play call means the difference between winning and losing recently. tOSU game was definitely won by the long ball. Otherwise, it really just means the difference of winning by 21 pts, compared to 28 pts.

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
Solar, i agree with you and Sir Charles, would love to see a few 50/50 balls from around mid-field IMHO there may be a few reasons that we aren't seeing this: Pass Protection: As BBMichaels pointed out the pass protection hasn't been there. While our tackles are road graders in the run game, they are not rock walls on pass protection. When you allow sacks against a 4 man rush that means the numbers on the back end arent in your favor. A free roaming safety can break up or intercept the ball. Dante: Dante may not be at the top of his game at reading the defensive schemes and formations, yet! He has the arm strength and accuracy but that type of play needs single coverage with no safety over the top. Can or does Dante recognize this or has DL and WS given him the green light. If you go back and watch the games from 22-24, both Bo and Dillion had the team lined up with 25 or more seconds on play clock. They looked over the D formation and called an audible. If the D changed their formation they had enough time to audible again. Bo and Dillion had game experience to do this. At this point, Dante may not have enough game experience. He will get there. Remember, Bo struggled at Auburn in his learning curve. Conference Opponents: Points have been difficult to come by in conference play. Rutgers being the exception. Plays are at a premium and this offence cannot waste any. OBD's running game is strong. It eats clock and puts points on the board. If DL and WS had been more patient and kept rinning the ball against the Hoosiers, the out come may have been different! When we passed to catch up or forced the pass, well Dante got picked twice in the fourth quarter. OBD's lost a game they could have won. Go Ducks......

Apparently, physicality at the line of scrimmage, also requires some coaching chops to be able to win a physical game.

What You Need to Know About the IOWA HAWKEYES
Don, thanks for that deeper look st the Hawkeyes 2025 squad. I firmly agree that they will give the Ducks all that they can handle...... While there is no comparison in the talent and depth level between the two teams, the Hoosiers gave the Hawkeyes the game plan/blueprint to pressure and confuse Dante. They also have a defensive unit that can carry it out. We shall see if WS can game plan some a suprises for the Hawkeyes........ A fast start by OBD's offense would put Iowa behind the 8 ball, however the Ducks start slow against any defense that has a pulse.Offensively, Iowa should not be able to overpower the Ducks D unit. Reaching 20 points should be a challenge for the Hawkeyes. Can the Ducks score 21points? I think they can and will....... Before the season started, a number of Forum members felt Iowa could be a potential 2nd loss on the schedule. They might or they might not! Either way this game should be another rock fight in the rain similar to the Whisky game. If OBD's play clean the Ducks win 21-16. If not? Go Ducks

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
I like the concept. But, the deep ball requires pass protection, which hasn't been great against the better teams. Yes, some of that has been Dante's fault, but a lot of it has not. World's face mask penalty vs Wisconsin comes to mind... Right or wrong, my guess is that we're not throwing deep as often because of that

What's Wrong with Lofting 50/50 Bombs from Near Midfield?
I think OCs often Vizzini themselves and end up drinking their own poison when they try to double triple quadruple outsmart the opponents. No, genius, the bubble screen never works and it suddenly won't this time.
