Ducks Move Up To No. 8 In CFP Rankings
Heck! I WANT to be on the Indiana side. This year would be Ohio St's "last year" for us. To have the opportunity to "right the wrong" done at Autzen before tearing through to the championship game. Plus maybe getting the chance to take down Alabama (Debour) and/or maybe Miami (Cristobal) along the way, well what do they say in the Mastercard commercials..."Priceless"! But first things first. Got us some gopher, trojan, and husky-dogs to pound down first! 🦆🏈🪨's

Does Oregon WANT to Make the B1G Championship?
I remember the "push" for conference championship games to bolster resumes and have true conference champions, instead of tie-breakers; to be the "chosen ones" in the BCS, two team playoffs. Now with 12 going to 16 playoff spots you will start to see NFL-lite teams "resting their starters" for the playoff run (similar to NFL-Heavy)rather than risk injury for what is increasingly becoming a consultation prize (a conference championship). I would really like for the conference championships be part of the playoffs, maybe like what has been mentioned before, winners get a bye and losers get home game against "the field", but you now have played one more game than "the field", whom would be off on their own byes, during the conference championship games. Not much incentive to risk being second in CCG. So, most likely they will go away, again, and "conference championships" based once again on win-loss records and tiebreakers, with uneven scheduling do to the size of the mega-leagues, will diminish the prize even more. Hope they can figure it out, cuz working towards a conference championship throughout the year makes the in season games more significant, and probably more entertaining (Oregon/Iowa last week), than simple win-loss records at the end of the year. Go Quackers!

Does Oregon WANT to Make the B1G Championship?
I don't think being the one seed was the problem last year as much as having tOSU being game one was. I think OBD would have beaten anybody and everybody else in the field last year. With that said my dream scenarios would be: Win the BIG and get a one or two seed. Get seeded 5-8 and get a home playoff game. Just get in the playoffs and hope for the best.

Ducks Move Up To No. 8 In CFP Rankings
I've determined that I'd like to see us end up with a No. 6 or No. 7 Seed....

Does Oregon WANT to Make the B1G Championship?
It's unlikely for us to make the game for sure. I would love to play it and win it but not at the expense of a better playoff run. The format needs to change for sure.

Ducks Move Up To No. 8 In CFP Rankings
I'd take 6 over 5. I would rather not be on Ohio State's side of the bracket. I think Ohio State will hold onto the No.1 spot as I don't see them losing this year to Michigan and I feel they would probably beat Indiana in the B1G title game. I'd take being on the Indiana side of the bracket for sure... I think we win in a rematch.

Definitely not, there's nothing to be gained by losing or winning.

I was think the same thing, getting to play the number 4 team if you wine sound so much better than playing tOSU at 1.

Does Oregon WANT to Make the B1G Championship?
I didn't think there was a question. You don't want to make the B1G Championship. It's an extra game with the chance to skip ahead to a slot that was 0-4 in last year's playoffs, or get beat badly enough to drop to a 9-12 seed play on the road slot. There's a world where coach Cig throws the game by blatantly resting his starters to keep them healthy and force the Playoff committee to discount the game enough that they stay a 5-8 seed. The conference championship games need to go in this current format. There needs to be a single bye week for each team in either the 6th or 7th week a single bye week after the 12th game then a single week of conference play-in games, no playoff byes for anyone. I hope Oregon wins out and stays in the 5-8 seed for a home game after a single bye week, same as their opponent. That's the best case scenario in this current format.

Ducks Move Up To No. 8 In CFP Rankings
I know it’s going to change but my initial thoughts on the current bracket: Too bad this format did not exist last year. It would be amazing to host a first round game in Eugene, especially against a team like Notre Dame. I’d prefer Miami as it would be hilarious to see Mario at Autzen and see how Miami players deal with the cold and rainy weather. Indiana at #2 had an easier path to the championship game than does Ohio State at #1, as they would likely face the winner of Georgia or Alabama in the semi’s. https://www.espn.ph/college-football/story/_/id/46933253/college-football-playoff-2025-byes-bracket-new-top-25

Does Oregon WANT to Make the B1G Championship?
Seems like a trick question, right? Well, it’s not as simple in 2025. Winning the conference for the second straight season and earning a top seed in the College Football Playoff just doesn’t mean what it used to mean in years past. Overall, our Oregon football program has had a gritty yet successful reloading season through nine games. Close wins ... Does Oregon WANT to Make the BIG Championship?

Yup. I don't think most of us realize quite how invested we get in our critter buddies, until they're not there.

If OBD wins out they'll be either 6 or 7 with the possibility of sneaking in at 5 depending on how the chips fall.

Oregon Trenches Showing the Nation They Are...'Sneaky-Good'
You have to hand it to Iowa, those explosives to the WRs, and particularly the TE, were unexpected given the weather and the limitations of their QB. I imagine the defensive game plan was to stop Gronowski from torching Oregon with his feet even on high probability passing situations, leaving wide open targets at times. Theinemen, Canady, Obidegwu and Boettcher all got burned. The zebras ignored holding on multiple occasions by the Iowa O-line, giving Gronowski just enough time to spot the neglected coverage. He never really threw what could be called a dime to those receivers (not like Dante's otherworldly toss to Malik on the final drive), but they were so wide open he could have shot-putted the ball for completions. Oregon also wasn't helped by the refs on the two airmailed throws to imaginary receivers on what turned out to be Hawkeye scoring drives. Calling them properly as intentional grounding would have deprived Iowa of at least a touchdown and probably 10 points.

Oregon Trenches Showing the Nation They Are...'Sneaky-Good'
In the trenches, interesting to look at some of the dire preseason predictions about the OL starting three first year portal transfers (it wasn't here but certainly was pushed by at least one well known Duck site): On paper, offense predicts 3,260 yards rushing at 14 games (2,157 currently). Last year, without a single first year transfer portal OL, Oregon rushed for 2,211 yards in 14 games. From 4.4 ypc to 6.6 ypc. Sacks allowed are also down from 1.50 per game to 1.22 per game. ATQ often brings up those successful Cristobal OL season (and they were good) but: 2019: 14g, 2482 rush @ 5.1, 1.79 sack 2020: 7g, 1167 rush @ 5.0, 1.57 sack 2021: 14g, 2833 rush @ 5.4, 1.71 sack 2025: 14g, 3260 rush @ 6.6, 1.22 sack (predicted)

Second Playoff Committee Top 25 Ranking
It's all good for OBD. Up to No. 8 and hosting a 1st round game in Autzen against Notre Dame. Six B1G teams are ranked, including 3-loss Iowa, No. 21, down one spot after the loss to OBD, and No. 17 USC. And the committee gave respect to close wins by Indiana at Penn State and Oregon in Iowa City. No matter the outcome of Iowa at USC this Saturday, Oregon will go into Week 13 after taking care of Minnesota, knock wood, with a win against a ranked opponent or a game to be played against a ranked opponent. Gopher It on Friday night and then on Saturday, cheer for Pitt to remove the Gold from the Domers' playoff hopes. College Football Playoff rankings for Week 12 go live: Who's in? Who's out? Down the home stretch, many SEC teams will be handing one another a third and fourth loss.
