Let's get there already. All the crap there used to be about how there are only really 4 teams capable of winning it all each year, and yet now that the playoff size has grown, so has the field of contenders. Look at Texas Tech. Would they be investing like this with a 4 team playoff? Heck no. Poor risk-reward. But if that money can get them in the playoffs every other year it pays off. If you expand the playoff field you'll expand the number of contenders, and levels the competition at the top. A field of 24 covers every ranked team minus one, which has been the threshold of relevance for a very long time. If you are relevant enough to be ranked, then you are relevant enough to play in the playoffs.

What a screw up by the GT head coach. Wasted a time out challenging a spot that was off by inches, leave his offense 13 seconds left instead of almost a minute, but his players still fighting giving them a chance with a hail Mary. 16-6 final Georgia wins. Georgia offense couldn't move the ball. I think their OL is a weakness this year, and QB Stockton is mid.

Scuttlebutt has it that the B1G and the SEC are seriously considering a 24-team playoff and are working with ESPN, the ACC, and the B12 to see if the CFB calendar could be changed to make this happen in 2027. I am not here as an advocate, only as an informant. But I do note that if the NCAA had managed the 'Division 1' postseason years ago, the playoff field would have had a 24-team field. Four teams from the ACC, B1G, B12, and the SEC would be in the field. Two teams from the G6 would be included, along with six at-large teams. Using the PO committee's latest ranking, this would be the PO field. The top eight seeds would host a second-round playoff game. 1. Ohio State vs. 17 USC at 16 Texas. 2. Indiana vs. 18 UVA at 15 Michigan. 3. Texas A&M vs. 19 Tennessee at 14 Vanderbilt 4. Georgia vs. 20 ASU at 13 Utah 5. Texas Tech vs. 21 SMU at 12 Miami 6. OREGON vs. 22. Pitt at 11. BYU 7. Ole Miss vs. 23 Tulane at 10 Alabama 8. Oklahoma vs. 24 JMU at 9 Notre Dame. Other than for 'The Good of the Game', I see no reason why any conference, and Notre Dame, would not favor this format. Jedd Fisch was literally quoted as saying "Winning this game will be good for me." What a lose-lose for Washington players and fans, but it's their own ADs fault hiring a temp worker for an HC. I wonder how hard some players are gonna really play for a guy who hopes they win so he can bail.

Chris Vannini Sources: Stanford is hiring Tavita Pritchard as the school’s next head coach. He’s a former quarterback, assistant coach and coordinator at the school, including a run on staff from 2010 to 2022. Pritchard is the Commanders QB coach, where he coached Jayden Daniels in his ROY season in 2024, and he’s set to leave the team’s staff after Washington plays Denver on Sunday night. Mariota is expected to start for the Commanders/Pritchard. Pritchards time on Stanford staff included five seasons as coordinator and nine seasons coaching QBs.

In the final regular-season game of his college career, Iowa quarterback Mark Gronowski made history. The Hawkeyes' signal-caller rushed for 64 yards in his team's 40-16 win at Nebraska on Nov. 28, increasing his season rushing total to 491 yards, breaking the program's single-reason record by a QB. The previous record was held by Kenny Ploen, who set the previous high mark at 487 yards in 1956. Ploen was the MVP in the 1957 Rose Bowl win over Oregon State. Gronowski had a net 25 vs Oregon, in a bad weather game where 42% of the Hawkeyes total yards came from rushing.

I think that speaks more to Georgia’s defense more than anything. That being said, GT is being pretty scrappy in the game though GA is slowly grinding them down.

They did that before Wilcox... They had Sonny Dykes and that was a disaster for them. He has done better in the Big 12 where teams just don't believe in defense (well this year seems different on that front). Cal needs a competent head coach who understands the program, alumni and fan base. And perhaps most importantly... Recruit their own back yard to secure its best talent and go into southern California and grab some there as well. They haven't had that and that's what they need. Defensive minded or offensive minded doesn't matter. The right coordinators will help, but frankly Wilcox has actually don't quite well on the coaching hires from an X's and O's stand point... They just never had the jimmies and joes. At least not a complete roster of them.
