Ducks Can't Overcome Slow Start And Turnovers, Lose In Arizona
hydrophobic replied to 30Duck's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
This part has been driving me crazy. Arm bars and push-offs by opposition players are being called as fouls vs Ducks, while upper arm hacks, holds, pushes, & blatant moving screens vs Ducks are routinely ignored. Even the Pac12 announcers noted, but tried to soft peddle, some of the worst instances - like the pathetic blocking call you cited. Not sure what's going on with this, but am trying to take a silver lining view in that the Duckettes will be well prepared for biased/inept officiating in the tourneys by learning to play through this nonsense. Kelly did get T-ed up in second ha -

Feedback Requested: How Long to Edit a Post?
hydrophobic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Nine times out of ten I edit for typos/spelling/grammar which I often don't notice until I see the posted format. If I'm eager to read other threads I may not go back to check mine for 15-20 minutes, maybe more. Ditto the 10th time when I realize another thread/comment may have been posted while I was composing my comment. So, 30 minutes should be good for the usual housekeeping kind of changes. -

Aggressive & physical: lots of grabbing, pushing, slapping that simply isn't called. Same in UCLA game. I'm guessing AZ saw the UCLA tape and went with it. Expect to see it a lot more. -
SEC DC Interviewed on Monday with Ducks

Full Disclosure: pasted from an earlier thread, written about the time Charles was starting this one. Man, the Pirate has got to be hating on Mario these days! Big Joe, Mastro, Wilson, Floppy Hair Guy - all poached from his staff in the last five years, and now his Mississippi State DC is on the clock?! After plucking Zack Arnett away from Syracuse for his debut season in Starkville, Leach promptly enhanced his DC's contract at season's end, and was likely feeling pretty good about things with a 2021 Rivals #24 class with crystal balls still pending, and a lush transfer portal -
Reminder: Womens Game-Time Changed versus Arizona

Great photo in there of the Fab Five waiting to come in as a whole flight/line. Recently Paopao has started with Mikesell, but Graves has experimented with subbing her out fairly early to work in Chavez & Shelly who can both do some point work. That way Paopao can get time with both lines and hold them together with elite point guard play. Very clever. -

I watched this game, and Stanford hit a number of 3s right out of the gate, while AZ seemed tight and their star, Aari McDonald, missed her first several shots and then started pressing, and not letting the game come to her. Stanford guards Wilson & Williams overplayed her outside, knowing their excellent bigs were prepared to help on drives to the basket. Tara & crew drew up and executed an excellent game plan. Without a healthy Prince I'm not sure our gals are prepared to execute a similar plan, at least not at this point of the season. It will be fun to see what Graves et al. c -

But noooo, now Arnett - late of Coach Boles' origi

Reminder: Womens Game-Time Changed versus Arizona
hydrophobic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Women have had to come out scrappy the last 3 games and several of the newbs have gotten valuable minutes, particularly in the Cal game. I'd expect a hard played, frenetic, and close first half unless one team is hot from 3 and the other isn't. Second half I like the Ducks quality depth to allow them to pull away for a little breathing space, but not more than around 10 points. -
(FishDuck Article) "Ducks in the First: 2021 NFL Draft"
hydrophobic replied to Charles Fischer's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I wonder if Holland's (highly visible) and Sewell's (less visible, but still involved) engagement with the player's demands / threatened strike to the Pac12 office will affect their draft status; either in a positive or negative manner. Different front offices may have different opinions on this. I think Holland may have the most risk with this, plus, there are several other safety types with similar skills and production who also played this past season and will have more recent game footage. By this same measure I think Lenoir likely helped himself a great deal with his outstanding pick -

Where's the writer's bio and hat tip to the editor for this article? It's a nice piece and I wanted to refresh my memory on Alex's background. -
Was not aware that her uncle is Big Joe; ah ha!

Better the second game of a trip changed than the first, so that both teams have equal prep and recovery time. -
Bears were being a little chippy early on and the Ducks seemed to feel like purging some frustrations of the past week. Really nice to see them do what we've talked about so much in football: getting a lesser team down and not letting up. Pedal to the metal all the way. Lots of valuable minutes spread around, and many different lineups allowed to work things out.
