Spot On! I watched the Cisco Kid on living black and white TV, aided by rabbit ears. Ditto the Lone Ranger, Roy Rogers, etc.

Hiyo Silver, Away! The Lone Ranger 'theme song' was my intoduction to Classical music. Before we owned a TV, I listened to the Lone Ranger on the radio.

You know you're old when all the shows you watched as a kid are now broadcast on Nick at Nite.

    😁

Yep, cowboy shows (and cowgirl, let us not forget Annie Oakley) all morning, then go outside and play "cowboys" with your friends. I didn't listen to LR on the radio, but can clearly see him on Silver running during the theme music of on TV. I do remember the family gathering around the radio to listen to Our Miss Brooks.

  2. Well, I guess while am I a super fan of the Ducks, I am not a Superfan. I love, love, love the Ducks and love watching them play. I am joyful for days after they win.

But when they lose, well, I'm sad for a short while, but then I start looking ahead, be it to the next game or the next season. I think of the real sadness I've dealt with, be it personal or out in the world, and losing a football game just doesn't compare for me.

That's not to say that I think there's anything amiss with someone really feeling down after a loss. We feel what we feel, and there's no right or wrong about that.

  3. No surprise, but sad. I love the Holiday Bowl and was disappointed when it was "downgraded."

I remember so well when the Ducks beat Texas in the 2000 Holiday Bowl and Joey scored running, throwing, and receiving. It was so satisfying to see the 98% of the TX fans who were so snotty and sure they were going to win slinking slowly out of the stadium.

So, do you truly think the Ducks didn't 'want it' bad enough?

I wonder too. I'd guess that they really wanted it, but for whatever reason got off on the wrong foot, caught up and went ahead, but just couldn't get the win. It was 3 points. That's so close. 💔

  5. Lots of players do see the sports psychologist, but if it was a recent decision by Bo, that is of interest.

Of course, who knows exactly why. Football related? School related? Personal? In any case, glad players have the option these days to talk to someone professional.

Annie....it is OBD members like you that make me love this community so much.  You are making lemonade, and we love to drink it being devoted Duck fans.

BTW...I cannot say who, but females who have been inspired by you have signed up recently to be an OBD member.  They see it is safe here as they read your posts and the reactions to them, and how we welcome all opinions.  You were one of the founding members, and I want to publicly acknowledge how you have always been "one-of-us," yet have shown others by your posts and examples that the water is just fine in this Duck Pond.

Thank you, Charles, for creating and maintaining such a safe and sane forum!

  7. I thought Ken Woody would mention this in his write up about the PAC-12 Championship game and he did:

"Oregon’s offensive line looked anemic, rather than destructive, and Irving looked injured--it was a discouraging sight. The Ducks were getting punished in the trenches because the pad level of Washington’s offensive and defensive linemen was nearly always lower than Oregon’s. The old adage 'low man wins,' was never more appropriate and spoke to the superiority of the Huskies, all based on 'leverage.'"

  8. 1) Bo will be playing--and maybe that will inspire other NFL-potential Duck players to join him.

    2) It is a New Year's Day bowl!

    3) The Liberty players, coaches, and fans are thrilled their team will be in the Fiesta Bowl and that kind of excitement is contagious.

    4) See #2! This gives the Ducks the opportunity for an upbeat finish to the season!

    GO DUCKS!
