  1. I was a junior during Harter's first year at Oregon. They were pretty bad. Steve Belko left the cupboard pretty bare when he retired. Harter's first team finished in last place and only won about four games total. The next year they were much improved and it was apparent that Dick Harter could both coach and recruit. The legendary John Wooden coached at UCLA. Only the conference champion got to the NCAA tournament in those days. Ralph Miller, Bob Boyd, Marv Harshman, George Raveling and other great coaches patrolled the sidelines during his tenure. Several of his teams would have made the expanded tournament and would have probably enjoyed some success. I often wonder how his teams would have fared with the advent of the shot clock and three point shot given that style of play. He did coach some in the professional ranks so maybe he would have adapted. His teams always played great defense. Those are great memories of watching games in Mac Court.
  2. They are replacing the old side. The east side was remodeled a few years back. This should bring their stadium up to par with other Division one programs and was long overdue.
  3. Should have been done years ago.
  4. I nearly spit my coffee out when I read this. The New Mexico State hire is better than Lanning? 2022 College Football Coaching Carousel Grades: Lincoln Riley an 'A+' with Brent Venables an 'A-' Replacement by Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports
  5. I heard someone claim on another site that this recruits dad was saying that the coaches pulled his offer. Since Oregon only has a few spaces left, and this coaching staff didn’t recruit him, I believe this could be true. He probably should have signed when he had the opportunity last month.
  6. Sounds like he has officially entered the transfer portal. After the way he torched Oregon's secondary in the Alamo Bowl I'm hoping its anyone but U$C.
  7. WSU was playing their third string quarterback at the end. He made a couple of pretty good throws but it’s difficult to beat the Little Sisters of the Poor when this happens in a game.
  8. Sorry for posting this above. You beat me by a couple of minutes. I would delete it if I could figure out how to do it. This potential hire looks like he would fit right in with the young group of assistant coaches that Lanning is putting together. I’m not sure how he ended up at New Mexico which is a coaching graveyard. Maybe he just needed a break and New Mexico is a beautiful state.
  9. See the article a few posts down for good information, and this seems like a hire to enrich the experience of the overall staff. Sources: Oregon to Hire Group of 5 Position Coach to Off-Field Staff by Zach Barnett of Football Scoop
  10. Many of the star players in college football have received under the table compensation in the past. University of Washington running back Hugh McElhenny once claimed that he took a cut in pay when he went to the pros. Granted the pro game is much more lucrative now but you are naive if you don’t think this has gone on at all programs in some form or another.
  11. This is interesting. As the old saying goes sometimes the grass seems greener than it actually is. Telling Statistics Emerge From The NCAA’s Transfer Portal (msn.com)
  12. Jones sounds off on why he left Oregon and chose Auburn.
  13. They should also have to finish the season and transfer after the bowl season is finished.
  14. He is now at Auburn. I guess Alabama was full. He will be happy eating mama's home cooking more often.
  15. Sounds like he is buying in to coach Lanning's vision. Oregon Ducks offensive tackle Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu reverses decision, opts-out of NFL Draft and will return in 2022 - oregonlive.com
  16. Quarterback is a position where a successful team needs quality depth. I can remember years where Oregon ended up starting the third string quarterback because of injury. One year Brooks had to start a wide receiver at the position because all the quarterbacks were hurt. That was ugly. Since we don’t have any freshmen coming in adding a player like Nix through the transfer portal only makes sense. Competition brings out the best in everyone. The cream will rise to the top.,
  17. The Ducks need to start fast Friday like they did against Ohio State and Oregon State. They need to make Utah play catch up and make them one dimensional. I don't think that they can play catch up as they don't have much of a vertical passing game. It will be tough if Oregon gets behind again like they did in Utah.
