  1. I have to admit, I've never heard this before and it seem so foreign to me b/c I was taught to think first, then talk. Growing up, if I didn't think something through before speaking, I was disciplined or at the very least ridiculed for having an uninformed opinion. I know personally that if I speak before thinking something through, I'm being quick-witted and with the intent of being insulting. It only make sense then that I would expect the same from someone else. Interesting food for thought...but I do have to wonder; does this mean we have to treat someone differently in order to treat them equally? I'll have to ponder on that as it defies what I thought I understood. Thanks for the thought-provoking discussion! Cheers
  2. Per the Denver Post kickoff is at 1:30 and nationally televised on ABC. "No. 18 Colorado will kick off against No. 13 Oregon at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 23, the school and Pac-12 Conference announced Monday. The game, which is in Eugene, Ore., will be televised nationally by ABC — marking the fourth consecutive week that CU will play on national TV." I'm assuming that's 1:30 Pacific time as it appears to be 3:30 Central Time from everything I can see...
  3. Oregon 56-17 5 Turnovers (3int, 2ff) 4 Sacks 368 passing yards
  4. I don't think anyone can deny the turn-around Deion has performed with the Buffs. However, they were 1-11 last year playing a team that was 4-8 last year and both have been garbage in terms of production for the last 10 years. That lacks substance but still drew almost 9 million viewers. College Game Day will be in Boulder for the Buffs vs Colorado State. A team that might make a bowl this season vs a 3-9 Mountain West team. It's a flash in the pan AT BEST. It's obvious that Deion will be in Boulder only as long as Shadeur and Travis Hunter are. If this is considered real substance, then I don't know what to think. Maybe I'm just a young(er) guy with an old soul who's missed the mark, but I just don't get it...
  5. This Colorado garbage is surreal to me...No wonder our elections are trash. People want controversy and soundbites over substance and it shows. I'll leave it there to keep away from the politics, but the willingness of people to spend their energy on things lacking substance blows my mind.
  6. Another play that you may not notice is how badly I believe Evan Williams jams their receiver (number 11 I believe) on TT's 2pt conversion attempt. He literally hits the WR back through the offensive line towards the QB in one shot. It was a BIG DOG kind of play...
  7. So I figured I'd share what I learned/saw while at this game. This was my first Duck game to attend in person with my only previous games being Texas A&M vs a baby seal at College Station and Air Force vs UNLV while stationed in Vegas. First off, it was HOT! We drove from the Dallas area and saw 115 on the way up to Lubbock (5+ hour drive). Our time there Friday was nice, with many residents welcoming us to the area and showing genuine respect and that southern hospitality Texas is known for. Game day on the other hand was something entirely different. Saturday morning was warm and upper 90's by kickoff. We tailgated with the Oregon Alumni Association who had their festivities in a fenced-off area in the middle of the Tech campus. We had to walk through student housing to get there and that was ROUGH. I assume the students had all been drinking fairly heavily all day, and while the vulgarity and insults lacked creativity (Nix only rhymes with so many other things) they were not in short supply. I'm not a small guy by any means at 6'1" 250lbs, but that didn't stop groups of 5-6 students from heckling and berating us the entire 20 minute hike. I will say the one positive thing we heard though was how surprised everyone was at how well the Ducks travel. I'm thinking there's only 2 entrances for the students to get through, so we had to walk through a large line where I'm guessing they had been waiting for quite a while. More jeers and insults followed. We finally get to our seats (45 yard line, row 2) and were thankfully among a large contingent of Duck fans that are visible on most of the videos. There was some good-natured ribbing going on there from nearby Tech fans prior to kickoff that would continue throughout the game. At kickoff it literally rained tortillas, but that was expected. What was interesting was that it continued essentially through the rest of the game. There were 2 kids about 7-8 years old at the railing in front of us that had a stack of about 20 that they continued to throw at the players for the first 2 quarters until security finally came and took the tortillas away from them. That didn't stop them from raining down throughout the rest of the game though. That being said, the Tech fans in our area were knowledgeable and fun. We were invited to many tailgates in the future if we come back and the adults there were respectful and friendly in spite of the excitement of the game. I can say I was sorely disappointed from what I saw of our defense from watching at field level. It seemed Shough had all day to throw despite the 4 sacks. The pass interference penalties were blatant and egregious...and we left glad to have the win but very unhappy with the performance. I will say exiting the stadium was less eventful than our entrance, with a few students mockingly muttering about becoming Beaver fans as it seems the defeat took the wind out of their sails. We drove back to our Air B-n-B without incident. My girlfriend is an OU fan (I just tell people she's dyslexic and red/green color-blind) and has been to numerous venues and she said Tech was unequivocally the most hostile place she's visited. Take that for what it's worth... Upon arriving home I decided to watch the game again but with the overhead perspective provided by television. This softened my previously harsh critique of our performance as we did get considerably more pressure on Shough that I realized watching at field level. I since have decided that we took the absolute best punch Tech had to offer (while not playing to our ability) and were lucky to get away with the win. I'm hopeful for what the rest of the season has to offer and am anxiously awaiting our date with Dieon 10 days from now. Go DUCKS!
  8. I was at the game and didn't hear the commentary in real time, however I went back and watched the game Sunday night when we got back home. I know on X (formerly twitter) there were quite a few Duck fans complaining that Helfrich wasn't objective and was just out to badmouth the Ducks, and after having watched the broadcast, I can't say that was my take at all. He's not terribly colorful or charismatic, but he knows the game and that much was obvious. I can only remember one moment where I felt that he was unnecessarily critical, and that was on JPJ's false start penalty. I went back and watched it at least 6-7 times and saw no movement whatsoever, and when the (partial) replay didn't show movement, his response was basically "trust me, it was there". Aside from that, I felt that he was adequate, nothing more.
  9. The intial bomb dropped by Franklin (if that's the one you're referring to) was most likely lost in the sun. We were seated on that side of the field and I lost it in the sun as well. Just saying that considering the blazing ball of fire in the sky, anyone catching that would most likely have been luck lol
  10. This whole idea of Nix for Heisman is Unbelieva-BO" Muahahahahahahaha!
  11. I want to see defenders in position, no missed tackles, offensive line that keeps pressure off of Bo and Ty Thompson get the ball in the end-zone. That shouldn’t be too much to ask against PSU…
  12. Man do I LOVE to dunk on the Trojans! And while that was my first thought while watching the game, Josh Pate had an interesting take on the defense (or lack thereof). I believe they had like 18-22 defensive players record stats for that game. That's cycling in A LOT of players...and getting them useful experience in a game that was never really in question. While I seriously doubt we give up 28 points to PSU, San Jose would probably beat PSU up in the same manner USC beat them up. Point being, using a game that's really not in question to get reps for a lot of different players is a good idea, not a bad one. The USC defense is where the question marks lie, so they used that game to get some experience for guys that may not get much playing time the rest of the season (but may have to be called on due to injury/ejection etc). It's my hope that maybe we don't hang 70 on PSU b/c Bo is pulled at halftime and they let Thompson/Novasad get some desperately needed reps that may pay dividends later on. Then the spotlight might be on us for winning a game 32-10 where the perception is we should have won by a MUCH larger margin. The optics may not be good, but getting quality reps to those that need them may be worth it in the long run...
  13. This reminds me of Zero Week in Basic Training as well. I was disappointed to have to go through it, it offered little in the way of substance and basic would have been better without it. However, I’ll still watch the Notre Dame and USC games. Not bc I expect them to be good, but bc it’s football season! That, and bc a coworker is an Irish fan and it’s important that I be able to talk to him intelligently about how his team played…and bc for just this week I’m a SJSU fan who wants to have a huge underdog knock off a self-proclaiming, hubris-filled giant. Hey, football’s BACK and I’m here for it!!!
  14. It occurred to me after re-reading my post that it's early and I hadn't had my coffee yet...so my apologies if my post had offended you as that certainly wasn't the intent. All of the Georgia fans on here (and even the Florida guy lol) have been classy and accommodating while still remaining humble and I appreciate that. I still expect you all to run the table this year despite the roster challenges you all have pointed out...and when you do, I'll be happy all and celebrate with you. Here's to kickoff in just 2 and a half days, good luck and we've finally made it!!!
  15. I'll miss the Utes the most. Beating them was ALWAYS a quality win. Whittingham is one of the best in the game and his devotion to development and the state is something of a dying breed. Much respect...
  16. There's one question mark on that schedule; Tennessee @ Neyland...and then the SEC Championship in your own back yard. That's it...and even Tennessee have to break in a new QB same as y'all. Only 2 teams have a higher blue-chip ratio: Alabama and Ohio State. I appreciate the humility, but it's time to own up to the expectations based on the scheduled evidence. NOT 3-peating would be a massive disappointment...
  17. Given the schedule, I fully expect them to 3-peat this year. That's it, the end. Goodbye and goodnight.
  18. Two things I abhor; arrogance and bullying. That's why I love Mariota, Herbert and all things Oregon football. We've been able to be successful while still remaining classy and hard working. Deion, while undeniably talented, was a cancer to football and is now promoting and infecting another generation with his sickness. I'm really looking forward to seeing them in Autzen and I hope we stomp a mud-hole in them! Of course that begs the question; would doing so also be considered bullying??? (Nah, so long as we're classy while running it up to 70 I think we'll be fine lol)
  19. Just figured I'd drop this in here and see what everyone thinks. This is the 4th story I've seen in the last 2 days regarding linear vs streaming and I'm wondering how all of you see this playing out in regards to OBD. Granted, I feel like we speculativly beat this horse to death, but I continue seeing more stories and coverage about how linear television advertising is dying more quickly than a Mari Cristbal offense. While it is true that I expected this would be the case 5 years down the road, I'm awfully surprised to see these articles coming out before ink is even dry on the parchment. What say you all, were we too rash in judging the Apple+ deal or was jumping ship 100% the right move? Traditional TV 'past the point of no return' as viewership hits record low WWW.YAHOO.COM Traditional TV viewing is falling off a cliff as media companies scramble to reset strategies.
  20. "Scheer stressed the word preliminary and warned that the Beavers and Aztecs would be looking at reduced shares of Big 12 revenue if they did join up." Didn't the Pro Rata state that G5 schools would receive a partial share but P5 schools, a full share? Granted, I'm sure the Beavs would just love a soft place to land at this point, but a full share would certainly make for a much more comfortable crash...
  21. David, thanks for writing this. It's what I feel like I've been screaming since this whole fiasco of dominoes started. We, convinced we needed the money and exposure to stay relevant, have played right into Fox/ESPN's hands. While there are plenty here (and elsewhere) that believe this is a good thing, the thing I keep asking myself is "Do Fox/ESPN have our best interest at heart, and if not, then why would we do exactly what they want us to do?" It's like all of the negative things we said this move would cause the L.A. schools just suddenly disappeared when we applied the move to ourselves! I 100% feel like we, partnering with an outlier in Apple+, would have been helping create a 3rd player in the market of college football, while still helping hold a beautiful tradition together (and helping ourselves by keeping the easiest path to the playoff alive). Instead we've actually helped Fox/ESPN consolidate power to themselves, essentially creating a 2 party system akin to our own political system...and we all know how well that's worked out so far. In the end we might have been fighting against something that was gonna win out regardless, but it's not in me to just fold b/c odds are stacked against us. I firmly believe SDSU and SMU, given a chance, would have followed the path laid down by Utah and the Beavs and made our conference better and stronger over the time of the Apple contract. Now it feels like we've capitulated against the eminent domain of big media and let them take our home just bc they wanted it. I could be wrong in all of this, and I know that Fox/ESPN, Larry Scott and Carol Folt along with the university presidents carry much of the blame, but I can't help feeling like we carry some of it as well...That being said, Go Ducks and Go PAC!
  22. If I were a betting man, I’d put money on the Utes making the playoff long before we do…
  23. Is there a possibility the ads will leave if the donate button works well enough? I must admit that some of the ads of teeth etc are a bit disturbing
  24. Thanks for the updates on this roller coaster ride of ransom! What could go wrong with 2 media companies controlling 2 super-conferences and all of the college football landscape?! I mean, it's worked so well in Washington DC!
  25. Listening to Canzano's BFT and they're making a fair point. All of the fans have been convinced that getting a partial share is worth it...all the while the conference is just being destabilized by the media companies so they can get the schools at a wholesale price. That's why they didn't offer a decent media deal, b/c they could implode the conference and buy up the pieces on the cheap. I still think holding the line is worth it as it offers the easiest path to the college football playoff and an eventual championship. By the way...Nebraska was a powerhouse program that took the money and has been in the graveyard ever since. Just some food for thought...
