Oregon’s Offensive Spark Comes From the RB

Recommended Posts

In football in general, the quarterback is the most important player on the field. He is the only player, besides the center, who has the ball in his hands on every snap. As a result, he is the leader and the face of the offense. When a team needs an offensive spark, it is often up to the QB to ...

I love the game Travis Dye had against California!  He always has been the explosive back we just saw.  His effort against Stanford was superb.

Travis is gifted with great quickness and good vision!  Because he is quick to slide step to a developing hole, he never goes down on first contact.

He is tough and has gotten stronger since his first year.

He is now a leader of this team!  Go Dye!  Go Ducks!

Good take.

I know we are talking O but the sparkplug on this Ducks team is Mr. T.

Stanford just lost to WAZZU. Looks like Rolo has coached his last game? He has until tomorrow, per state rules for state employees, to get vaccinated, obtain a religious exemption, or get canned.

Rolo says he will not be vaccinated and no religious exemption is likely to be approved by the end of the day on Monday.

Brown played one good quarter. The Ducks have played one good game. The easy part of the schedule, with the exception of the game in Columbus, is over. Can we play 500 ball to the finish? To do so we are going to have to take execution up several notches. It's possible, but we've witnessed very little to inspire confidence.

Absolutely on defense... KT really makes everyone look better out there and brings some great energy and encourages energy out of everyone else.

Sewell also has great energy but it doesn't always translate to the team.

NOTE - Regarding Rolo's status. Please do not turn this into a political discussion or debate. I posted this simply to note that this situation could have an affect on a future Ducks opponent.

The turnover ratio is starting to flip. -3 in the past two games. This is a real bad sign going forward.

Penalties have started to destroy this team. For the season we have averaged 7.66 penalties per game and 79.66 yards lost per game. But more importantly in the past three games we have averaged 9.66 penalties and 92 yards lost per game. So the further into the season we have gone the worse the penalties have gotten. We are seeing regression, not progression. Many of the penalties have come at the worst possible times, on 3rd down, in the red zone etc.

This is a very mistake prone team (could be youth?), along with having horrible luck regarding injuries. The injuries are so bad it makes you start to wonder about the training regiment.

So in summary there are three big issues that are rearing their head:

1. Turnover ratio

2. Penalties

3. Injuries

These three things have led to a lot of the poor play we have witnessed.
