3* and Rising DB gets Offer from Oregon

This is a great sign to me that Lanning isn't star chasing.

Love that, no star chasing. Chase potential, heart, football intelligence, and team players!

Does the student athlete make everyone around them better, is he a leader!

I want to hear a coach more excited about their potential than their star rating. Still remember our DB coach talking about the potential of Patrick Chung. Chung was a 3* and the coach said, just wait.

Good chance this kid gets to 4 stat level at some point...

But more importantly, Lanning knows these relationships are built early and he can't wait for the stars to come in, just recruit because he knows the talent is there.

Can't Lanning talk TJ Dudley, another Bama recruit, back into the mix?  It appears Lanning was able to persuade most of the recruits on defense to stay committed to the Ducks but lost all but one recruit on offense.

It makes perfect sense for the recruits on defense to be more thrilled with the hiring of Lanning than the recruits playing offense.  They know what Lanning is bringing to the table and what kind of defense he wants to run.  There however is less certainty of how Oregon's offense will look like and perform.

Marcus Mariota and Justin Herbert both 3☆s.

We are definitely beyond those days. We haven't recruited a 3* recruit since, and haven't had the success at qb since, hmmmmmmmmm!

Perfect example we recruited Shough while Brock Purdy went to Iowa State. Brock was the 3*, and looked like the kind of qb we use to have.
