OT - But I Hope Interesting. Golf Fan Or Not

Recommended Posts

Scotty Scheffler, who just won the Masters by 'a lot,' won his first PGA tournament on 2/13/22. Now, he is #1 in the world and a Masters Champion.

Here's the football connection that grey, grey beards will get.

Scotty went to the same high school in Texas that produced Bobby Lane and Doak Walker. The best RB trophy for RBs in CFB is the Doak Walker Trophy.

May the Ducks in 2022 go on the same kind of run!

Scheffler has already won four tournaments this year and today he pocketed $2.7 million for winning The Masters.

At seven, I remember sitting on the living room floor in front of a huge radio listening to Walker’s Mustangs beat Van Brocklin and the Ducks in the Cotton Bowl. I think it was close, something like 13-7, but could be off on that.

SMU had another great player on that team - Kyle Rote.

Sorry this is kind of OT.

$8.8M in his last 6 starts! 52 days from 1st win to #1 in the world; it took Woods over 250 days to accomplish the same.

He’s automatic from 6 to 8 feet….it’s the two footers that give him trouble. It’s nice to be able to four putt and know it doesn’t matter. His short game is truly astounding.

He apparently also went to the same high school as Matthew Stafford, and won his first tournament at the same time Stafford was in the Superbowl.  Quite the performance from Scottie, and a more than impressive final round by McIlroy to shoot 64 on an extremely difficult course.

This is also OT, but Highland Park HS has quite a notable alumni base. Clayton Kershaw, Angie Harmon, Jayne Mansfield and John Hinckley Jr. to name a few.
