Diamond Ducks Taken Down 2-0 by Oregon State on Tuesday Night

Top of the 1st;

 

Dylan Sabia pitching for Oregon vs Oregon State and he gets a swinging strike out to the first batter.

 

Sabia fell behind in the pitch count and walked the next batter on a 3-1 pitch. And the runner promptly steals second to be in scoring position.

 

The Beaver power hitter hit a ground ball to Gavin Grant at second base who throws him out at first base. The runner advanced to third.

 

A fly ball to right/center field is gloved by Tyler Ganus at the warning track.

Bottom of the 1st;

 

Tyler Ganus leading off for our Ducks. I presume Ganus is playing instead of Anthony Hall who was injured on Sunday against Cal. Tyler hit a long fly ball into center/right that is caught at the warning track for out number one.

 

Tanner Smith batting second goes down swinging on a 1-2 pitch.

 

Brennan Milone up next and he works a full count into a free pass to first base.

 

Third baseman Drew Cowley hit a pop fly into shallow center field that drops for a single. Milone was moving on the hit and advances to third base.

 

Josh Kasevich ends Oregon in the first on a fly ball to right field.

Top of the second;

 

Mark Wasikowski brings in Caleb Sloan to pitch. Caleb gets the first batter on a swinging strike.

 

Sloan got behind in the pitch count to the next batter and walked him on a 3-1 pitch.

 

The next batter flied out to Colby Shade in center/left field for out number two.

 

Caleb hit the next batter in the leg to put runners on second and first.

 

A single into center/right field should have resulted in a run for the Beavers, but a heads-up throw by Colby Shade to third base and tag by Drew Cowley results in the third out before the runner from third crosses home plate.

Anthony Hall, who is the designated hitter today is out at first base on an infield hit.

 

Colby Shade strikes out swinging for the second out.

 

Josiah Cromwick also strikes out swinging.

Caleb Sloan continues pitching and retires the first batter on a fly ball to center field.

 

A swinging strike out on a 2-2 pitch results in the second out.

 

After going full count, Sloan gets another swinging strike out to set the Beavers down in the third inning.

Tyler Ganus is out number two on a bouncing ball to the shortstop.

 

Tanner Smith ends the bottom of the third on a ground ball to first base.

Coach Waz is sticking with Caleb Sloan on the mound.

 

Caleb gets his fourth strike out of the game on a check swing strike.

 

A ground out to Brennan Milone who is playing first base today for the second out.

 

A three pitch strike out from Caleb Sloan takes us to the bottom of the inning. Caleb only needed eleven pitches in the inning.

Brennan Milone almost broke the scoreless tie with a high fly ball to right field that is caught in the warning track.

 

Drew Cowley hit a ball into the right field corner to the wall and slides safely into second base.

 

A ground ball to shortstop by Josh Kasevich moves Cowley to third with Josh thrown out at first base.

 

Designated hitter Anthony Hall skies out to center field, and the Ducks can't capitalize with a runner at third base.

Andrew Mosiello in to pitch for Oregon. Mosiello continues where Caleb Sloan left off with a looking strike out for the first out. 

 

A three pitch swinging strike out continues the streak from Mosiello.

 

A twelve pitch inning by Mosiello ends on a ground ball out to first base.

Colby Shade gets on base when the Beaver first baseman can't handle a hard shot down the first base line.

 

Josiah Cromwick hit a line drive directly at the shortstop and Shade is out on the double play.

 

Gavin Grant strikes out swinging to end the fifth inning.

A deep fly ball to right field is caught by Tyler Ganus on the warning track for a long out.

 

Mosiello gets the second out on a ground ball to third base.

 

The ninth strike out by a Duck pitcher today ends the top of the sixth inning.

New pitcher for OSU to face Tyler Ganus. A line drive right field is the first out.

 

Tanner Smith hit a fly ball out to right field.

 

Up next is Brennan Milone fouls off four pitches before hitting a single between shortstop and third base.

 

Drew Cowley flied out to left field to close out the inning.

Beginning of the 7th inning;

Matt Dallas in relief of Andrew Mosiello. Dallas falls behind the pitch count 3-1 before walking the leadoff batter.

 

A double into right field puts Beaver runners on third and second with no outs.

 

A sacrifice fly ball to center field breaks the scoreless tie with the runner at third tagging up and scoring. The runner at second base did not advance. One out with a runner at second base.

 

Christian Ciuffetelli has been summoned to pitch in relief of Matt Dallas. Ciuffetelli gets the second out on a fly ball to left field which advances the runner to third base.

 

A line  out to Colby Shade in center field limits the damage to one run.

A slow roller to the right side of the infield for Josh Kasevich is out number one.

 

Anthony Hall is on first base with a line drive into left/center field.

 

Colby Shade hit a grounder between third and shortstop for a single. Two on with one out for Josiah Cromwick. Beavers go to their bullpen ton pitch to Cromwick.

 

Cromwick looks at four straight pitches off the plate to load the bases for Oregon.

 

Gavin Grant at the plate for the Ducks with only one out, and he strikes out swinging for out number two.

 

At the plate is Tyler Ganus with all the bases planted by Duck baserunners. Ganus can't take advantage of the opportunity as he lines out to the shortstop.

Logan Mercado now pitching for our Ducks. He retires the first batter on a line drive to right field.

 

A fly ball out to Tanner Smith in left field is the second out.

 

The next hitter for OSU hit a homerun to left/center field.

 

Rio Britton is called on to pitch and he ends the top of the eighth with a two pitch groundout to second base,

The first out comes on a line drive to Tanner Smith in left field.

 

Rio records the second out with a swinging strikeout.

 

And Britton gets out of the inning with a called third strike.

Ducks are down to their last three outs. Josh Kasevich leads off for Oregon and grounds out to shortstop.

 

Anthony Hall is quickly into an 0-2 pitch count and is caught looking at a called third strike for the second out.

 

Colby Shade ends the game on a pop out to the shortstop.

 

0 Runs, 0 Hits, 0 Errors, 0 LOB

 

Oregon actually out hit OSU six to four, but couldn't score any runs.

Agreed. Corvallis College is pretty good at the baseball game. But that's what you get in an itty-bitty nowhere like Corvallis where all there is to do is throw rocks at things. You get not too shabby at the baseball. 

 

This is why a university has multiple sports programs. It's up to the football Ducks to lambaste Corvallis College by a score of about 72-0 this fall. And that's the score I want at halftime. Not that I'm vengeful or anything, but the rodent droppings need to pay for what's going on with the baseball.
