The Pac-12 board of directors has approved the conference to explore expansion options after USC and UCLA...

In what may be a case of "too little, too late"...could there be conversations with the Big12 soon?

Seriously, now they decide this.  I agree, "too little, too late."

What else are they going to say?  I assure you, the level of trust between these members is really really low.  They know Oregon isn’t staying in a plussed up version of the Big West or whatever it’s called.

and they know Oregon would rather commit seppuku than join the Big XII

And they know Oregon is the next most valuable piece on the board behind ND (note: this assumes the ACC teams cannot be pried out from that league which seems pretty reasonable)

IOW, they aren’t staying or merging.  They are just waiting for things to move along a little further.  So I think the PAC disappears in 2-3 weeks when Arizona and/or Utah schools bolt rather than wait for Oregon and UW to administer the death blow

It is going to be excruciating to wait and the commitment news could get dicey between now and then but Oregon (and UW) will be OK

Everybody is giving lip service and saying the right things.  If we don't think every Pac 12 AD/President aren't talking to SEC, B1G TEN or B12, we have our had in the sand.  Everybody is looking for their own life raft.

If we wait too long we will be looking at the big sky conference.

To think we could have expanded with Texas and Oklahoma years ago.

Well, except I don't think TX and OK were on board with that idea.

IIRC, Texas' financial demands were quite excessive...

I doubt this but I'm wondering if the SEC will want to put together a west pod to extend their influence out west.  Like i said I highly doubt it but who knows...

Do they add to the revenue?

Adding teams that reduces the slice that their current conference teams receive, will not work.

All these people are brutal, as it is only about the money.

Somebody once said “follow the money,” a very astute observation.

The next week should be very interesting.

In the current climate, if you snooze, you lose.

As an aficionado of Japanese novels, I have some understanding of the above mentioned procedure.  Better hope your second (for lack of a better term) doesn't miss... LOL!!
