Oregon/Georgia GameDay Thread!

At least a sack takes time off the clock--this is bad

I take back everything I said trying to build up Bo. Making a critical mistake when it looked we were going to score. Depressing for sure.

At this point, time to put in the kid.  Bo is clearly not the answer here (and probably not for the season if he can't show up for this game)

There isn't a chance with him, might as well get Ty experience.

Exactly. This one is likely over. Let's get the future in there and give him as much PT as possible.

Things were running smoothly in that drive, then Bo got cocky and tried something silly. Dillingham needs to squash that fast.

Let’s hope the D has a stop in them.

How does a 5th year QB lock in on a receiver like that, not see the d-back(s), and throw that pass

Men against boys.

Wasn't expecting Oregon to come out scared. Not a good look.

Lanning should bench Nix -great coaches do not reward bad decision makers. At this point I would welcome Anthony Brown. And that not a good thing.

To SEC teams, when they can lure Pac-12 teams to come out on a one-and-done, it's like when Oregon plays Eastern Washington at home.

Remember the thread here about how we did not need to fear the blowout?

Georgia and Oregon are in different leagues, literally and figuratively.

We are getting no penetration from our front seven. Is Georgia that good or are the Ducks that bad.

The one single thing we could not allow to happen, was to be completely blown out of this game. All we needed to have a successful game against Georgia, was to be competitive.

Nobody in their right mind thought we would win this, but we needed to at least be somewhat competitive.

After really thinking about it, I would tend to agree with you.

What about the D reads they are not happening????

Impressed with Georgia. Just patiently mixing it up and making it look easy. Announcers just said they just went over 30 yards rushing.

Found the Duck weakness (LB in coverage, nickel, and S) and just have been eating their lunch. DL and staff had to see this coming, it's a concern moving forward.

A blowout was the one thing that I have feared and knew was a distinct possibility. But I did not think it would look this horrid.

Well, we are about to see how good of a head coach is Dan Lanning. Right now Oregon looks awful. Can Lanning right the ship?

What was that throw decision by Bo? Almost throwing a 3rd pick?

But the good news is that we might be "Pac-12 Good."

I know this sucks and the Ducks are clearly nervous but these games can be incredibly helpful for a team trying to find its identity.  They can and should grow from this.  They are not going to be in a game that is in a more hostile environment and facing such a powerful team.

This can be the beat down that leads to great growth as the season progresses.  That, to me, will be the first real test for Lanning.  Not only can he settle his team in this game but can he grow the team's confidence and mental toughness as the season goes on.

Two things are clear.... Bo Nix is still Bo Nix... just like A Brown, they don't change. It's time to try our young guns.

Additionally, I've thought this in every game that Flowe has played--he is over rated. He consistently makes late hits and it costs the ducks. Maybe he is trying to play with an edge, but to me, he plays dirty and it has cost yards every game he has played in. The narrative is that he is the better player over Sewell, I'd take Noah over Flowe every day of the week and twice on Saturday. I wanted to see how he did today before I voiced this, but he hasn't changed... not a Flowe fan.

Go Ducks, let's hope we remember how to make second half adjustments.

Bennet Williams: good tackle!

I like Lanning calling TOs.  He's signaling his confidence to his D and that he thinks they can score exiting the half vs 'let's just get out of here and into the locker room.'

UPDATE: Didn't pay off but I still like the aggression.  Says a lot about his mentality.

This seems a bit reminiscent of that Oregon-Utah Pac-12 championship game last December.

But it’s nice that we were willing to travel 3000 miles, for a one-and-done, to be a tune-up game for Georgia, and do it on national TV.

No improvements from last year. Missing tackles?! Going to be a long season. QB play is worse than last year. No excuse for poor tackling. Sigh. Let’s hope Utah plays better.

The Dan Lanning effect so far:

- No dumb timeouts

- 4 GA possessions, 4 GA touchdowns

Have to admit, I expected more . . . actually I didn’t. You’re only as good as the talent you have. At best I expected only marginal improvement from the defense this year.

How many punts does UGA have?

just a suggestion from an amateur observer: Ducks might benefit from a little coaching on a football skill called: “tackling”

What does this national tv exposure say to the nation about Oregon and PAC-12 football?

Maybe…….this game will be for Lanning, like Boise State was for Chip.  Maybe.  We can hope!
