As a rule, the more worried I am about a game, the better the Ducks do. Pessimism is my lucky t-shirt. If that's true, OBD will excel against UCLA because, man, am I nervous about this game.

If you figure most gaming houses give teams 3-pts. for home field, (maybe 6 for a stadium like Autzen) this is a pretty even game by even their standards.

We know the Ducks are tough at home, but we seem to be especially tough when playing at home against top 10 teams. Another test for Lanning, and one of the more compelling storylines in college football.

Seeing what the two offenses do this Saturday will be interesting, no actually fascinating, actually riveting. Not sure if the rest of the nation sees what I see happening this weekend, but I won't miss this one.

"Most polls consider Oregon's matchup against the Bruins a top-10 matchup.  ESPN is not one of those polls, still continues to show Ducks no respect."

Oregon vs. UCLA is largely considered a top-10 matchup. Not to ESPN, though. They still have Oregon down in the rankings after the bye week.

Oregon vs. UCLA: Point spread grows as money flows in favor of the Ducks

Zachary Neel of Ducks Wire: This feels like the most even match the Ducks have seen so far this year. Both teams have great offenses

with really stout defenses. They’re well coached and hungry, knowing that the winner of this game takes the de-facto top spot in the conference.

First off, any of you 'gamblers' out there be careful!

When odds start changing before a game and it's not because of significant changes in injuries or coaching, etc.  - beware.  It's a reflection of bets coming in from precisely those least objective in their analysis.  The gaming houses are positioning themselves to make a profit against the losses.

Secondly, most of these players or coaches have no notion (or memory) of past games like this between the two (both teams in top 10).  So while it helps with the hype it isn't necessarily the motivator driving them to win.

All that said: enjoy the heck out of this one, win or lose.  This is what makes collegiate football the most exciting fan sport to watch, imo.  Even Super Bowls (the actual game) pale in comparison.  Only game 7 of the World Series compares favorably and even there fans don't rush the field and tear the place down.

Go Ducks!
