Oregon Continuing Pursuit of Louisville Commit Jamari Johnson

Jamari Johnson is a freak athlete and would be a massive addition to Oregon's 2023 class.

Standing at 6'5" and weighing 265 pounds, the Louisville commit is listed as an athlete,

playing his high school ball at Inglewood (Calif.) High School.

You'll see a versatile playmaker catching passes, putting his hand in the dirt to block,

muscling his way through multiple defenders on one play and hurdling would be tacklers.

Interesting prospect and offer sheet.  Only two Pac-12 offers (Washington and 'Zona) but Michigan, Alabama, Florida State, etc.  I would expect a versatile athlete at 6'5",  250+ and a 3.7 GPA according to his twitter bio, located in a recruiting hotbed, to be inundated with suitors.  Wonder how fast and explosive he is?

Basically he just looked bigger than everyone else.  Looked up Inglewood High, only 800 students.  The school has questionable academics which could easily keep recruiters away.  Less than 5% meet California math proficiency standards?  Really unfair to the kids.

Don't see a lot of recruits come out of Inglewood High. Good for him and would be great to see him become a Duck. I know that area and I am sure Jamari would like the change to a true college town. I grew up not far from Inglewood and the change to Eugene was the greatest thing that ever happened to me.

Isn't the wide receiver room fairly deep with primarily young players?  Chase Cota and Caleb Chapman are listed as seniors but do they have an extra covid year?  We have a couple freshmen who are highly regarded that have barely seen the field plus a high four star and a five star committed.

I don't understand the push for more receivers.  Is it just recruiting site hype?

He already lined up another visit to SUC and took an official visit there this past summer.

I agree.  Lanning needs to make this kid a priority and get him to Eugene.

Neither defense is playing great right now, but the Ducks have been wrapping up their games by halftime.  Their success can be attributed to a combination of better recruiting and better coaching.  Whereas, SUC games have been going all the way down to the wire, winning by 7 or less points.  They have to rely on their offense to outscore their opponents to escape with a W.

As a LB, wouldn't he rather play for defensive guru, fresh off winning a Natty than an offensive guru who fell short of making the playoffs?

Saw that one, and the reason they site? The rumor that Lanning was interested in the Auburn job. These people are unreal, and full of it. Obviously nothing is guaranteed, but these people that stir up crap, just to stir it up, are really annoying and pathetic.

I agree, this is another click bait.  Distractions galore.  I am sure Dan Lanning and company have reached out to the recruits giving them assurance they are not going anywhere.

Lanning's press conference said it all last night (Monday).

I was thinking Donte Moore looking at what Bo Nix is doing in this offense, he's got to be excited to come here at Oregon.  By the way, he said he is planning on enrolling early at Oregon.

Perfect example of why I don't get too excited about a recruit or a potential new coach, or too down if there are rumors that a key player, recruit, or coach is leaving.  Disinformation, people changing their minds, rumors, clickbait, attempted sabotage by fans or coaches of other teams, deals to be worked out, indecision - just not worth worrying about.

When a coach or current player announces he's leaving, then it's real.

When a recruit signs an NLI, then it's real.

When a new coach signs a contract, then it's real.

Sadly, with the transfer portal and buyouts, even when a kid is playing for us or a coach is under contract, it may not be real for long.

I have no doubt we'll lose promising players to the transfer portal, assistant coaches will get promoted elsewhere, recruits will flip, etc.  The Ducks will reload and move forward.  Until they need to, it's all just noise.

McDuck, Have you seen Trech's (WR recruit) film yet? If he doesn't remind you of Jaden Waddle (Sp?) of Alabama fame a lot, or of DeAnthony Thomas, but taller, more athletic, and quicker, then you are not concentrating on the film. This young HS player is fast with exceptional

balance and a stop-and-go/change directions capability like you have not seen before. He would be an incredible slot receiver, and a punt returner extraordinaire. Watch the film. After watching his film, then you can answer the "recruiting hype" question.

McDuck inquired about the O-Line recruit from Utah, Fano. You asked about his intent to take his mission. He was reported to have stated he intended to play his freshman year and then take his two year mission. Still, when people play as team members, intent can change. We'll see.

Trech is shifty but not nearly as fast as DAT (very few are).  My first thought was that he would be a good potential replacement for Chase Cota in the slot and a good punt returner.

For those of you who do not remember what DAT was doing in high school, I leave you with this gem.  His highlight real was like a video game.  Unreal.  So glad that he chose to play for Chip Kelly at Oregon!

Yes, Nikko is Adrian's son.

He’s a top-five player in the state and the son of Oregon offensive line coach Adrian Klemm. With Oregon on the road in Pullman, he’ll make the trip to Corvallis."

Oregon Hosting CB Commit Cole Martin on Crucial Visit

The talented defensive back has been committed since January but Oregon is trying to hold off an ACC push.

Martin is ranked the No. 2 player in Arizona and he's seen his recruitment start to pick up of late despite being committed.

The Louisville Cardinals have been the most significant push for the corner after offering him in August.

The interest appeared to be mutual, as the speedy DB took an official visit this fall.
