Boy, the Experts Sure Had Oregon Pegged...

Recommended Posts

What does this say to YOU?  I'll bet they all went with Oregon the week before...and it goes to show how hard prognostication really is. And they are the "experts"...

Whatever, it's all click bait too often.  Beat the bark rats, and shut down USuC in Vegas.  Rose Bowl Baby

Yeah, it made me mad when I saw it but at this point, whether or not they said it, they all thought Nix was dun!  Or, at best, he'd make an attempt at playing before bowing out.  And rough, tough, physical Utah would be too much for O with Bo hurt and unable to go 60 minutes.

They might have been right, except they didn't now how tough that kid really is and how he lifted and inspired his team to play just as rough and tough as they did.   You can't bottle that.

Betcha it would be a stout brew!

Maybe the NIL solution could be "Bo Knows"!

I was really impressed with the offensive game plan and Nix's execution of it on Saturday. Obviously the plan was for Nix to get the ball out fast on passing plays, thereby minimizing Utah's chances of getting at him. His veteran leadership was palpable all night.

I particularly loved one of the final plays on offense where, with an empty backfield on 3rd and short if I remember correctly, gimpy Bo caught Utah completely off guard by calling his own number and diving forward for the game clinching first down. I guess it is possible that Dillingham called this play, but I'd bet that this was something a veteran competitor just decided that he could pull off.

Now just go out and find a way to skin the rodents--Go Ducks!

Although we correctly question some of the offensive play calls that don't work gotta give credit to those that do.  From Lanning's post game comments...

“It certainly was a different game, I don’t think there’s any secret. We asked Bo right before that play if we could run the play knowing that the two options were to hand it off or for him to keep it and he said ‘absolutely.’ That guy’s got heart, he cares about the game, he cares about this team and I think it shows in the way he plays."

I made a bet at the local Indian Casino in August that the Ducks would win over 9 regular season games. I really need them to beat the Beavs, otherwise Christmas is cancelled at my house. 😆

When Herbie said "Utah was tougher than Oregon last year, and when they punched the Ducks in the mouth early in the game, the Oregon players wanted none of it" and just basically rolled over . . . that BS was locker room bulletin board material.  The entire group at College Game Day embraced the "Oregon is too soft" narrative that still gets trotted out since the Chip Kelly days (and yeah, some of it may have been due to uncertainty about Bo Nix playing, but still . . . the "Utah is tough, Oregon is soft" narrative was still the thing).

No, boys, what you saw last year in both Utah games was an Oregon team whose HC had his heart and mind focused elsewhere (Miami, Florida!) . . . and it showed.

Glad that Lanning and Co. had the team ready to play . . . Bo toughed it out, and the D showed up when needed.  Good for them!

Eat that, CGD!

That was quite a bet to make back then Darren.  Who thinks O wins >9 in a coach's 1st season?  Was that before or after the 3rd Mohito?

Hahaha, stone cold sober actually. Ducks have the best talent in the Pac-12. No USC, Utah at home, some feared BYU but I didn't. I figured a loss to Georgia and 1 Pac-12 foe would be about right. Lanning struck me from the get-go as being much better than Mario, and Mario did well.

Dan Lanning trolls ESPN analysts after Oregon's win over Utah

If you pick against Oregon, you better be right. If not, Dan Lanning is coming for your head.

Count on Lanning to continue issuing reminders until they do.

SATURDAYOUTWEST.COM

Dan Lanning offered a reminder to ESPN's College GameDay crew that it's not always wise to pick against Oregon at home.

Well, IMHO, the Oregon defense gave every reason to believe that they would roll over against Utah.

Where in the hec has that effort been all season?  I dont care who is your coach, effort is on the player. Its on the player........

Thank you Duck D for momentarily putting The Saturday morning know it alls in place. I bet the Fab 5 all picked Tennessee to beat South Carolina.  No one really knows, especially me......

Okay Ducks D, lets bring it again against the Beavs.
