Ducks will have to up their game with one of Pac-12's 'premier' players coming to town

Kelly Graves kept it upbeat in his press conference after Oregon's seven-point win over Washington. Sure, he understood that Friday's game was much closer than most had expected and most in attendance would've liked, but with the Charlisse Leger-Walker-led Washington State Cougars coming to town on Sunday, the right time to pick apart those warts would come later.

"She's one of the premier players in the conference," Graves said of Leger-Walker, who averages 20.9 points per game to go with 5.3 rebounds and 4.8 assists. "We're going to have to defend her with five players and we're going to have to scheme well and play really really hard.

NO. 21 DUCKS CLOSE WEEKEND WITH COUGARS

Both UO and WSU are looking for a weekend sweep after the Cougars' 63-56 victory at Oregon State Friday night.

The Ducks are 71-19 all-time against Washington State, winning the last eight in the series after an 83-30 win in

Pullman a season ago. Oregon's 71 wins against the Cougars are the program's most against a single opponent.

No. 21 Ducks will play for weekend sweep against WSU on Sunday

The 21st-ranked Ducks will play for their first weekend sweep of Pac-12 play on Sunday when they host Washington State.

It marks the third consecutive weekend the Ducks have taken at least one game against Pac-12 opponents. The Ducks have

yet to sweep a weekend series though with losses to UCLA and Arizona getting in the way.

The Ducks area bit nicked up at the moment. VanSlooten was a game-time decision on Friday due to an ankle injury, and it's

unclear what Rogers status will be after apparently twisting her own ankle in the final minute of the last game.

Oregon drops tightly contested overtime matchup to Washington State

A chaotic Sunday matinee matchup between Oregon and Washington State ended with the Cougars victorious as a potential game-winning Te-Hina PaoPao jumper struck back iron. Ducks admit frustration over end-of-regulation clock operator error

“I personally thought we won the game a long time ago," Rogers, who scored a game-best 33 points, told the press

after the overtime defeat. "If she hit the three then it should have been their ball with however much time was left."

Oregon coach Kelly Graves felt similarly about the clock operator error, telling reporters he didn't understand why

the official wouldn't allow the game to continue before reviewing the timing issue.

Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed game's conclusion due to possible concussion

Oregon center Phillipina Kyei missed the fourth quarter and overtime because she had been placed in concussion protocols, Oregon coach Kelly Graves said.

Kyei lay on the court for a few minutes after a collision with Washington State's Grace Sarver with about four to play in the first half. She had appeared to take a shot to the face while defending Sarver, who lowered her shoulder and placed the center on the ground. Play was stopped and Kyei was substituted out.

“We struggled inside," Graves said. "It’s just one of those nights. It did hurt that Philli was limited.”

Comeback Bid Ends In Heartbreak

The No. 21 Ducks (13-5, 4-3 Pac-12) fell behind by 10 in the first quarter, rallied to lead by 10 in the third, then fell

behind by as many as 14 in the fourth. Endyia Rogers made a three-pointer with 4 seconds left in regulation to get

the Ducks within two, then stole the ensuing inbounds pass and kicked to Hurst for the apparent game-winner.

Though that shot wasn't to be, VanSlooten's clutch free throws extended the game into overtime, where a three-pointer

by Paopao with 19 seconds left and a WSU turnover gave the Ducks a look at a game-winner that didn't fall.

"I had 33; it wasn't enough," Rogers said when asked about her individual performance. "I missed a free throw,

a couple open shots. It just was not enough. I had 33, but we still lost."
