Women's Basketball: 1/20/23 Ducks @ Oregon State (Ducks LOSE 65-68)

Both Ducks and Beavers will look to get back on track in Friday's rivalry meeting

The Ducks have already dropped three games in conference play with two coming at home, including Sunday's demoralizing loss to Washington State. A loss on Friday in Corvallis would bring the Ducks to an even 4-4 record in conference play with the heart of the schedule in front of them.

Oregon State enters in a similar boat. Despite a talented roster that features numerous former five-star recruits, the Beavers are just 2-5 in Pac-12 play and were swept by the Washington schools last weekend in a pair of home games.

Really looking forward to seeing how our Lady Ducks continue to evolve tonight?

My prediction for tonight hinges on how confident and aggressive Te-Hina is!

When you're not around teams at practice, it is usually a hard thing to now where players minds are. Looking at Te-Hina she doesn't seem to be as quick or confident as she has been in the past?

She seems to be bigger and stronger than in the past, but also a step slower and really not taking as good of care of the ball!

Te-Hina just go play with unbelievable confidence and take it to the Lady Beavs!

Shoot too score, not shoot too shoot, same for PK on her inside game!

Enough on Te-Hina's role on the team, let's keep Chance growing in her game and watch her blossom into an all Pac-12 player.

Endyia is our glue and we will get her best!

Grace is a top talent who is only going to get better and better!

Will PK play and if she does, will she neutralize the Beavers size?

Kennedy will also continue to grow and be a force as we move forward.

Here in my long winded write up are my thoughts on how this game could be decided!

3 veteran players, Taya, Alhise and Taylor. They have been important all year, but from here on out, they might be as important as anyone on the team.

I have to believe that the other 6 players will play the way they can, and the last 3 I mentioned will be the difference in how far the team goes! All very talented and ready to explode in what they can do.

Sorry for the long post, just want to see these Ladies all play the way they can.

Go Ducks!!!

Oregon women’s basketball goes for rare season sweep of Oregon State

The Ducks and Beavers have split the last 14 games in the series, 13 of which have been decided by 12 or less. Tonight’s meeting will be the 19th straight meeting of the rivalry in which one team is ranked and both No. 23 Oregon and Oregon State need wins in a hyper competitive Pac-12.

“It means a lot,” UO guard Chance Gray said. “We’re both coming off of losses so it’s going to be two very hungry teams trying to go and get the W. Last game here was an intense atmosphere, a great atmosphere to play in.”

I didn't get home to start watching the game until the 4th qtr, but after reading the updates, I think Graves needs to change up the starting 5. It seems iike every game lately, whether the opponent is good or bad, we fall behind early and have to play catch-up. There is something missing in our starting 5. They are talented, but something is not jelling early in games.

Oregon State turns back furious Oregon rally, beats Ducks 68-65 in women’s basketball

Oregon State got one it absolutely had to have, as the Beavers held on late to beat No. 23 Oregon 68-65

The Beavers, needing several quality wins down the stretch to keep postseason hopes alive, survived a

late three-point barrage by Oregon to pull out the win.

Ducks rally late but fall short against Oregon State to drop second straight game

Oregon's three-game win streak in Corvallis is no more.

The Ducks fought back from down 12 with three to play to give themselves multiple chances to tie or gain a late lead,

but were unable to put down two looks in the final 20 seconds to do so. Oregon State ultimately held on for a 68-65 win

when a Chance Gray three hit the back iron and a mad scramble for the loose ball resulted in the clock expiring.

Another Comeback From Deep Hole Falls Short

For the second time in six days the UO women nearly completed a dramatic comeback, but the Ducks fell short Friday at OSU.

For Oregon, the game was all too similar to Sunday's loss to Washington State, in which the Ducks mounted a furious comeback to force overtime before coming up short.

"We can't keep doing this," UO coach Kelly Graves said. "I mean, we play our butts off and we have these frantic finishes, but you can get behind 10 or 12 and then hope to make those comebacks in the Pac-12. It's the Pac-12 — these teams are too good."

Ducks face uphill battle with strength of Pac-12 schedule in front of them

Kelly Graves had seen that movie before. The similarities between Friday's defeat in Corvallis and other losses in Pac-12 play aren't that subtle.

In shortcomings to UCLA, Washington State and now Oregon State, his Oregon team has fallen behind by double-figures in the fourth quarter before exhibiting enough fight to make things interesting late, but not enough to get over the hump.
