  1. Thanks for reading everyone! Jon Joseph, I love it! This is going to be another incredible game. These teams are the top of the class. I’ve never seen a Ducks team this complete and able to defeat all takers. This is truly a different year and different squad, likely yielding a different outcome after so many years of falling short. Ducks have got a tough road but winning it all was never going to be easy. This is our time to shine. As the best team in the country, we are here for a reason. Let’s go Ducks!

Fantastic analysis and gives me more depth of understanding as I watch the matchup between these two teams.

I do think it will be an advantage to have the week off before we play them, especially if they are banged up at all. Both teams will be fighting to win like there is no tomorrow, I can imagine by the 4th quarter either team will be at a disadvantage physically in their next matchup against the Ducks.

There is a reason the SEC plays a pansy late in the season and this season playoff format will be a new twist. Teams will have to both be prepared, recovered and in some games have the depth to play very tough games consecutively.

One good indicator about Day playing a revenge game is the 0-4 record against Michigan. Most recently at home, the nuts seem to crack in revenge games.

Thank you very much, Jordan. There's no doubt in my mind that I want Tennessee to beat osu2. I'd much rather have the team and its fan-aticals deal with losing 4 straight to Michigan, 2 straight to Oregon, getting bounced in the first round of the CFP, than having a chance to derail Oregon's championship run.

Tennessee's D hasn't faced an offense like Oregon's. I like OBD's chances of exploding against it more than Tennessee plodding methodically down the field against Oregon's opportunistic defense.

Thanks for reading! I agree with you, Oregon’s offense is the best in the country, bar none. Even if they shut down  our run game, Gabriel is the best quarterback in the FBS and has so many weapons at his disposal. It’s impossible to completely bottle up. The only team that will beat Oregon is Oregon.

Thanks. Jordan, I'm staying true to "my conference" and the $200K that comes OBD's way with an Ohio State win (NIL for a 3rd string-long snapper?) helps the Buckeyes cause.

Several SEC teams play a late-game cupcake as part of an 8-conference game schedule, and not because no player gets beat up like the SEC players. Playing 8 games inflates win totals; especially, when teams like Ole Miss and Missouri play 4 pushovers OOC.

This season, Tennessee finished 15th out of 16 in SEC Conference Strength of Schedule. The Vols had a good win over Bama at home but the Tide were not road warriors in 2024, losing to Vandy and Oklahoma on the road. The Vols were never in the game at Georgia and failed to show up at Arkansas, an average football team.

When you play the next-to-last easiest conference schedule in this day and age of mega-conferences, you are not ipso facto playing tough opponents just because they are SEC teams.

OOC, the Vols played a disappointing NC State, Chattanooga, Kent State, and UTEP. Ohio State also played donut holes OOC. The Vols finished 0-1 vs PO teams; the Buckeyes finished 2-1 with a 1-point loss to OBD.

These are two very good teams but one is not better because of the conference in which it plays. The SEC is a deeper conference than the B1G with six PO-worthy teams with Georgia at the top but Ohio State had the more rigorous in-conference schedule with one extra conference game. Traveling to Northwestern is more difficult than playing UTEB at home.

I think OBD will play Ohio State in the Rose Bowl on 1/1/25, an iconic and rather ironic, Rose Bowl matchup.

BLOW UP THE BUCKEYES! VANQUISH THE VOLS!

Thank you so much for reading and for sharing your thoughts! It means so much to me! Go Ducks!

Thanks so much for reading! I’m glad you found it informative! Thus was a good article to write because I didn’t know much about Tennessee so I had a lot of questions about them and potential matchups for the Ducks. I lean toward wanting to play Tennessee but I also think the Buckeyes might actually lose this game. I feel like the Vols could very likely take the Bucks run game away, which would put the game more firmly in Will Howard’s hands. The problem? If I’m Ryan Day and Chip Kelly, I wouldn’t trust Howard to order my breakfast, let alone successfully run my multimillion dollar offense. Go Ducks!

Great analysis article Jordan.  The strength and weaknesses you identified for each team is spot on.
