It's a definite possibility. I think Georgia and Alabama are the only two schools to worry about. But, not everyone wants to follow a legend, and he seems to really like Eugene and his family. We just don't know what he prioritizes.
I actually don't think he would take the Alabama job in theory, IMHO he just doesn't have enough of an attachment to that place other than respecting Nick Saban and learning from him. Georgia on the other hand, that's where he experienced his first real success as a direct contributor. If Kirby left and Georgia came calling, it would be a 50/50 shot on whether he stays or goes...in that scenario I think it would come down to what his wife and kids would say. If they're settled in and comfortable in Eugene then that would be the tipping point for DL to continue putting down roots in Oregon.

Pellum got paid to go to Zero U so you can’t be mad at him for that BUT IMO I doubt he would’ve saw the field this season at USC.
And how USC gets wide receivers he probably wouldn’t have saw it the 2nd year either.
Bottom line is he did what was best for him and USC will be more than alright…LOL the hubris of usuc fans is really amazing. As if USC, a rich private school, isn't swimming in booster and NIL money?
I also bet that before NSD he was one of them singing praises about Pellum's potential as a receiver for them...now he's downplaying those same skills as 2nd rate.
Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight....

OBD can certainly make that argument with confidence, that's for sure. Getting a backup with a decent amount of game experience like Moore is paramount for next season with that 8 game gauntlet in the middle of the schedule. With no break in the middle of that I wouldn't be surprised if the injuries pile up during that span.

Moore lost that game on his first play with a pick-6. His stats weren't great: 15 of 35 for 234 yards, one touchdown and one INT. He lost a fumble on what looked like a scoring drive in the third quarter. But he threw some otherworldly passes, including one for 45 yards that was incredible in the fourth quarter, a type of pass why so many people on this board are so excited about him. Utah's defense also was as dominant as it looked all season.
Moore was sacked seven times and these weren't holding-the-ball-too-long sacks. These were sacks where Moore got the snap and someone was in his face. On the final drive, Utah DE Jonah Ellis took him down immediately twice.
UCLA's OL was very subpar (I'm being nice, they were terrible), so he didn't really get much pass protection. Under the same circumstances behind Oregon's OL his numbers would be visibly better.

He probably needs to develop better movement in the pocket and sometimes, a quarterback needs to run for a seven-yard gain. He's got a better arm than Bo Nix, but Bo Nix is much more of an athlete when it comes to running the ball.
That's surprising to me as well. I would have thought he'd have developed at least some scrambling skills after starting all 4 years in high school.

I think limiting Gabriel's ability to run will be a mistake. And I agree with David's excellent point about the UW D teeing off against the Oregon O, especially in the conference champ game, with Bo not being a run threat. I was very disappointed to see the Ducks come out in the champ game with no variation in the game plan. The UW DBs locked down the short passing game, took early control of the game, and Oregon could not finish the comeback win.
100% agree with this. Gabriel is a dual threat QB, let him BE a dual threat QB. I understood why DL and WS limited Bo's running so much this past season but I think they pulled it back way too much, to the point that it caused problems with the offense at certain points. When the offense was clearly struggling against Texas Tech early on, Bo began running the ball himself on a handful of plays and the offense got going again since the TT defense then had to take him into account. If he did that against UW, I would have bet money that the offense would have been more consistent.

This one is interesting. He certainly has the size we need...his stats are gaudy but they're against division II competition so that needs to be taken with a grain of salt. I couldn't find profiles of him on 247 or Rivals, I wonder what happened and why he didn't get into a Power 5 program out of high school?

Bruins O wasn't good. For sure. Moore was part of that. He is young so he gets a mulligan.
If Oregon lands Moore. Sure hope they can develop him. If Ducks have to go to the portal in 25', high school QB's are going to notice.
Definitely. I think he would show improvement under Stein like TT did (or even at a faster rate). I don't know who Chip Kelly has on his staff but when he was at Oregon he was certainly helped out on QB development by Helfrich and Scott Frost.

Is Moore the best backup QB in the portal? His numbers were pretty bad at UCLA.
Comp% 53.5
TD 11
Int 9
QBR 33.1 (118th) yikes!
I am not sure Moore can win the backup job next year. Dude couldn't make a play in CK's offense. Seems like the attention doesn't match the production.
Should he sign Oregon it will be interesting to see how he acclimates. Stein's offense is always marketed as "quarterback friendly"...if Moore does better in Eugene that might reflect that either Moore/Kelly offense was a bad fit or Kelly's Bruin offense may not be as good as advertised.

If that is true, that's a very interesting 180 since last season with him chasing after starter minutes right out of school. I suppose taking so many lumps in that experience may have made him realize he needed more time than jumping straight into the deep end.
If he does commit, that does plug up a gaping hole in the QB room...as much as I like Novasad I don't think he's ready for real playing time should Gabriel go down with an injury. Moore would have just enough for Oregon to survive a few games in that scenario.
The burning question for me is if Moore decides to come to Eugene, how does that affect the recruitment of Akili Smith Jr.?
