Deion is going to find out real quick what happens real quick about what happens when you try to hold a card over the NFL. He's stated that his son, and Travis Hunter aren't going to play for certain teams.
Bill Belichick couldn't get a job this past hiring cycle, meanwhile his lackey Josh McDaniels got three jobs(he no showed the Colts). Robert Kraft had a hand in that. NFL owners run their multi billion dollar investments abiding by Burger King's motto.
Deion has the media, but it's looking like a rehash of the Levar Ball nonsense a decade ago. The NFL isn't the NBA though, they'll move on real quick from anybody that becomes a headache. Hall of Famer or not.

I'm a bit confused (no surprise.) If you are referring to Georgia, Georgia does not play LSU and Missouri in 2024-25. Preseason top 25 teams on the Dawgs' schedule are Clemson in Atlanta, Tennessee at home. Bama, Ole Miss, Texas, and possibly Kentucky on the road.
Bama will be preseason ranked in the top 10. Bama plays UGA and Missouri at home, Tennessee, LSU, and Oklahoma. on the road. Auburn in 2024 is a home game.
I think that both Tennessee and Alabama will contend for a playoff berth. Especially, playing only eight conference games. Tennessee's 'B12 offense' is no longer an anomaly in an SEC that these days features many a shootout. Heupel is another coach who is recruiting very well and looks to have a very good QB in Nico Iamaleva, from Long Beach, CA, for the next two seasons. The Vols miss Texas, LSU, and Missouri in the next two seasons.
Texas? Loses a lot of talent. Will young players and transfers come through at DL, WR, and RB? Will last year's close wins in the B12 be losses in the SEC? I'm very interested to see how Texas plays on the road at Michigan, Arkansas, and A+M and in Austin vs. Georgia and in Dallas vs Oklahoma. I'm not sold on Sark having the chops to win a Natty at Texas. IMO he abandoned the run game far too soon vs UW in the semifinal.
Mizzou due to a lightweight OOC schedule and the easiest conference schedule does have a shot at making the playoffs.
You read it correctly, my writing was off the wall. What I mean by Georgia being the favorite isn't based off yearly schedule, more like that invisible force Miami had in the 80's or early 2000's. What USC had from '03-'08, or Alabama had from their first title under Saban in '09 to their last in '20.
When I see Georgia on a big stage under Kirby, I expect them to win. Even if they're down double digits to a team that might be better than them. Like the Peach Bowl vs Ohio State.
It's not quantifiable, although having fifteen five star studs each class helps. It's wave after wave of development. Lose five guys to the first round, replace them with even more talented guys.
Oklahoma has the stench of softness to them. They get blown out every playoff, it's the complete opposite of Georgia. Texas is out of that boat to me because I saw them take the fight out of a Saban coached Tide in Tuscaloosa. That's a big confidence booster.
Sorry if my post doesn't illustrate what I mean entirely. It's hard for me to speak on unproven players, but I trust the coaching staff at Georgia. I trust the program. I don't trust Oklahoma.
As it relates to Oregon under Dan, he needs to close the deal. We all know he has the goods, but like Ryan Day, or Harbaugh up till last year. He needs to close the deal, beat the best and win it all.

I think that Oklahoma, ranked mostly in the 12 to 15 range in the preseason is because of the schedule in part, overrated. The SEC did Oklahoma, which plays an OOC game in 2025 vs. Michigan, no favors by simply flipping the home and away games in 2025 and playing the same SEC teams that were played in 2024.
They are going in without Saban at Alabama. Brian Kelly at LSU. Auburn and Florida with questionable coaches, and Tennessee as a more classic Big 12 light up the board type with former Sooner Heupel at the helm.
Really it's Georgia, Texas, LSU, Ole Miss, and Missouri as the favorites right now. With Georgia being the new heavyweight.
I would rank their hardest games as at LSU, at Missouri, at Ole Miss, vs Texas, and home to Alabama. Alabama will still have the remnant upperclassmen with that Saban lineage. Away games in Baton Rouge are an experience I hope to experience one day, possibly with a future scheduling alliance with the Big Ten/SEC down the road.

I had some free time this afternoon, clicked about and found the Oklahoma Sooner spring game. It made me realize that the soon to be defunct Pac Twelve has the worst media coverage period.
Baker Mayfield returned in his Buccaneers uniform, and the announcers called Oklahoma "The QB Heisman Trophy Winners Club". They named off Jason White, Sam Bradford, Baker Mayfield, Kyler Murray, and Caleb Williams as Sooner alum that won the Heisman, and have/will be number 1 overall draft picks. Excluding Jason White(who want undrafted in 2005).
Will Dillon Gabriel follow this lineage? We can hope.

If I were ASU, I'd stop getting quarterbacks from California named Jaden. At least Daniels played a couple seasons for them before transferring to LSU and winning the Heisman.
Rashada backed out of playing for Florida because of a 13 million dollar NIL deal falling through.

The quarterback from California was let down by many people around him in the messiest...The transfer portal needs to be fixed. You must only look at the case of Kaydyn Proctor, a OT who transferred to home State Iowa ,only to transfer back a month later to Alabama.

We can argue, get angry at each other. But don't let those silly things break up wonderful friendships, or whatever relationship you have. Be kind, be thoughtful. Remember today is a gift, and treat it as such. Give forgiveness, a friendly word. A couple bucks to a soul in need. As Kim lived her life, and is now in that great Duck pond above. Don't just wish her family well. Do it to everyone you know.

Calipari once took UMASS to the Final Four. He turned Memphis into a National power, should've won a title in '08. So the guy can coach, but he got caught up with stacking McDonalds All Americans. He won on title in '12 , and had that undefeated season in '15 before losing to Wisconsin in the Final Four.
Since then it's been losses to double digit seeds. The formula for winning is now having experience. Guys with two kids and a mortgage payment. Coach Cal just can't get past this fact. Just hit the transfer portal Cal, pay the established guys not wanting to be one and dones.
Kentucky to Arkansas is a step down. That tells me this wasn't 100 percent his choice.

Very good points sir. Remember when Kirk Ferentz making four million a year was big news? The amount of money changing hands in college football is insane. It truly is becoming the NFL Lite. Just switch out transfer portal for free agency in wording.
I'm glad we have a young energetic coach. Could you imagine Joe Paterno coaching in this era?

I wouldn't call a financial agreement that both parties entered into voluntarily, where the party performing duties for compensation , servitude. But you are correct in that there is a buyout. It gets negotiated down usually, but yes it gets worked out. I wouldn't want to keep a guy who doesn't want to be around anymore. It's toxic.

But there has always been a double standard to enforcement when it comes to amateur athletics. The coaches, institutions, and television networks could make millions. But a freshman couldn't receive a meal or board. I find it interesting how coaches making millions could object to their players getting compensated, especially in football.
The portal needs to have guidelines though. That's my point. You and Jon have made very good points, and illustrated them better than me. College football has changed, and I'm trying to just enjoy seeing Oregon getting to that next level. Which is happening, so I'm gonna let the powers that be worry about the logistics.

I want to like Deion, but he is acting more like Lamar Ball everyday. Saying he's going to pull an Eli with his son, but take it further with all his draft capable players.
Hall of Fame player. Hasn't proved anything as a coach though. If I were in position to pick his guys, I wouldn't touch them until round five. Play around with the pros, see where it gets you.

Seems fitting. Their fans are probably calling this a game changer. Probably still deluding themselves into thinking Oregon should have pushed for their inclusion to make the move to the Big Ten. Package deal, after all they did it for USC with UCLA.

LBS: A mental disease that stems from severe delusion. Some claim it is a genetic disease passed down from Beaver to Beaver. There is a sensory delay, one that blinds the eye from seeing how atrocious the brownish orange sunglasses shade them from reality.
Dr. PuddleMaker has tried to determine the placement of the defective brain anomaly, but has been unable to determine it's whereabouts. It may be the frontal cerebral cortex, or their brains may actually be located in another area of the body. Beavers look like they are feeling the result of digestive failure, but claim it's a pain equivalent to what we call a headache. Perhaps that is a sign of their brain's location.
There is nothing that can be done for those suffering LBS. Just smile and back away slowly. They will lash out without warning, green seems to be a trigger. Be safe folks, LBS is widespread in the Pacific Northwest.

No one puts the Fanatic in Fan like SEC fans. CFB is not a sport, it's a Religion. A playoff game in 2024 featuring a B1G team and a to-be B1G team was simply sacrilegious. Something that could only happen in a Leap Year.

For a while we thought Clemson and Dabo would take that next step. Dabo has regressed with this new NIL ruling. Five years ago it was assumed Dabo would be next in line when Nick retired. The question we must ask is if there was any real interest from either side before Alabama hired DeBoer.
I don't think we'll have another run like Nick did. It's going to be too hard to win the gauntlet every year with expanded playoff. Plus roster attrition, coaches leaving for NFL gigs as it becomes harder to maintain a championship roster. You not only have to recruit new guys, but now you gotta recruit your current guys. You won't be able to stack guys like you could just five years ago.
If you recruit an elite QB every year, chances are the guy you choose to be the guy will hold that down for two years. You'll lose the redshirt freshman, along with the true freshman during that time. The game is just getting out of control. Alabama lost their five star lineman Procter to his home State Iowa, only to get him back a few weeks later. The kid signed up officially with Iowa, just to change his mind because teenagers shockingly don't exactly have everything figured out.
I hope the powers that be find a way to put some guidelines in place. That goes for coaches as well. Coaches never honor their agreements, but get angry when players decide to do the same. Which brings me back full circle to Dabo Sweeney. A guy making close to ten million a year, he gets angry because his job got harder because of NIL and the T.P.

That article brought up a good point though. Is Benny a mad beaver? We all know how the Beavis fans are. Puddles is a bachelor, but Benny has some darkness behind that bucktooth grin.

I think Oregon is viewed as "new money". Oregon prior to probably Akili Smith wasn't seen much higher than the two left behinds. Plus we still need a championship to punctuate Oregon is all grown up.
It also doesn't help that for the longest time, we didn't have that one single look. When you see Michigan, Ohio State, Notre Dame, USC, Texas, Miami, Georgia, Tennessee , Florida State, LSU, Auburn, Florida, Alabama, Penn State, Nebraska. You recognize them. What look do most people see and say "That's Oregon" ?
Our Feathered Wings look is awesome, but not iconic. But what's great is that in ten years, if we keep winning. It will become iconic. The Miami Hurricanes were once seen as "new money". But they earned their place with three decades of winning. They won five championships in that span.
Give us a few years in the Big Ten, cultivate real rivalries with Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, Nebraska. People in the eastern time zone will get to know Puddles very well.
I'd like an article ranking the top ten mascots, see where Puddles rates.

Was Dan supposed to cry, curl up in a ball and talk about what a big loss this was? Locklyn did what was best for him. More money with the same amount of resources talent wise. Dan has to do what's best for his program.
If you aren't looking to get better, you'll find somebody else around you will.

What a world man. Ten years ago we wouldn't likely know who Locklyn was. A RB coach, not a coordinator. But today we know the salary it takes to poach him.
Charles is correct when he speaks on the playbook being inconsequential. After all, if you are making at least half a million a year coaching, you should know what an inside or outside read is. You should know zone blocking or what RPO means. A RB coach isn't dialing up plays in game anyway. He is doing the coaching all week.
Footwork, ball handling, learning audibles. Reading defensive positioning to determine if the linebacker is coming in to rush or dropping out to cover.
It's not knowing the playbook that got Michigan in trouble. It's about knowing the signs. They had scouts go to other games with equipment to spy on signs. These guys were paid to do this. Harbaugh knows Day's playbook. What he shouldn't have known was the signs to signal the exact timing of those plays.

Any update on the Big Ten holding the championship game anywhere but Indy? If this is going to be a National landscape conference, they should have alternate sites. Especially if Florida State and Clemson join up in a couple years.
As far as the question goes, it would shock me. USC is in for a culture shock, because Lincoln has a style built for the Big Twelve, or the now defunct Pac Twelve. Talented squad, but it takes a while to integrate toughness. I like their new DC though. He has the chance to do what Knowles has done at Ohio State. But it'll take more than one off-season imo.
