please everyone stop w the Kiffin talk. he was a disaster and embarrassment at usc. i don’t care how much he’s “improved” as a coach, oregon deserves better than sc’s sloppy seconds. in fact, if OR is targeting ANY former or current pac12 coaches, it would be a major disappointment.

imho, we need a young, nfl assistant

And after 2-3 years they'll go back to the NFL as an HC. The only coach that will stay long term is one thats older and who is looking at

Oregon as a last hurrah or a home grown alumn. In between those are splashy hires that'll say they're super excited to be here and want to

make Oregon the face of college football on the west coast and plan to be here forever, but just like Tag and MC or even Chip when the

dream job comes calling they're gone.

  2. Per this article

On who will serve as interim coach:

“The priority is absolutely the student-athletes and that’s what I’ve been spending my morning doing. I met with Mario early this morning to hear his final decision. We spoke throughout the night actually, but to hear the final decision. We had the team meeting. I’ve met with the staff. I’ve reached out to the coaches that are on the road and talked to them directly or left a voicemail. That is the priority is maintain the support structure around these student-athletes. They’ve done everything requested of them to have a great season, win 10 wins, win the North division and have a tremendous opportunity to go to (the) Alamo Bowl and play Oklahoma. That is our absolutely priority today is to make sure we set that up. I’m trying to get an understanding of who’s going with Mario immediately and once I have that then we will have an interim coach in place and I shared that with both the student-athletes and the support staff.”

Looks to me like he talked to the players.

Chip doesn't have to run the same blur surprise offence as he did when at Oregon. He went 8-4 this year with much less talent than Oregon

has. Take away the P12 Champ game and thats only two less wins that MC got the Ducks. Chips NFL tour was a bust. Where else would he

need to go? Certainly not back to NH. Yeah he sucks at recruiting but some of that can be fixed with really good recruiting assistant

    coaches.

  4. Kalani Sitake

I know he's probably a long timer at BYU and a long shot but he did knock off UT and 4 other P12 schools.

Next choice would be Dave Aranda. I think he'd bring back the excitement to Oregon football that MC couldn't.

Last would be the three amigos Wilcox, Sirmon and Musgrave. I'm not a big fan of alumni ex-players being head coaches because if they

falter  then it's emotionally hard to ask them to leave.

  5. 1st off why does Mc have to sign a new contract today? Just so he can settle down a fan base? He can sign when he wants and it really

means nothing to anyone but him and the team and recruits. We have no idea what his real intentions are. For all we know he's 100%

committed to Oregon and is planning on signing a new contract when he gets off the recruiting trail.

Or he is playing both sides as anyone with a tad bit of negotiating skills would do.

I agree Jordan, the Ducks are at a crossroads, but could that be better than standing in place?

But will he? Latracey noted yesterday how Utah whacked Oregon in SLC and Mario's response to that was an even worse showing two weeks later in Las Vegas, with a a 3-peat and the Rose Bowl Oregon's with a win. If anything showed Mario's resistance to change, it was this. It didn't work the first time, but he didn't see any other way to take Utah on.

Losing the OC and the head coach this close to Signing Day is bad timing to say the least, But all the great recruits that Mario has brought in got Oregon to here.

Utah didn't have close to the star power on its roster that Oregon did, but they punished the Ducks. If Oregon does get a new coach, he might not bring in as many stars, but he and the new OC, might get more out of the players they do get. Mario would be gone, but Oregon's brand, the facilities, Nike, will all still be here.

MC pretty much showed that while stars count they aren't the only thing that matters.

    Per MC

"I haven't talked to anybody, so let's not create narratives as we sit here in this press conference," Cristobal said after the game. "Oregon's working on some stuff for me, and that's what I have right now, and that's the extent of that conversation.

"If there's anything to report, I'd report it. I always have."

    Are we overreacting?

  8. Last night was a disaster but so was two weeks ago. Different circumstances same outcome. I'm not really sure if distractions were the main

reason the Ducks got blowout last night. Maybe it was just the fact that UT is a better team right now. I would give it 70% better-30% distraction.
