It would be interesting to know how many Utah players have finished their Mormon mission commitments and are close to being full grown men as opposed to the teenagers against whom they are competing.  I remember being shocked that Utah great Britain Covey was close to 25 years old as he was running a punt back for a TD against OBD.

If my memory is correct, the second 4th down failure actually worked out as they forced a punt deep in UW territory, got a short field, and scored a TD.

I watched Princeton in the final four with Wichita St, UCLA(Gail Goodrich) and Michigan(Cazzie Russell).  It was in Portland at the MC, I believe in 1964.   UCLA won but Princeton’s Bradley was outstanding player, scoring over 50 in both games. Dave Stallworth of Wichita St was absent.

Very good points Alex.  I think that no matter how good our CBs are, the PAC 12 QBs are too lethal.  If Penix et al are given enough time to throw they will beat the best DBs most of the time.  So developing a pass rush is absolutely imperative if OBD are to compete for a conference title.

Seems I recall Taggart took all the 4 star receivers with him when he skulked off to FSU. JH had Mitchell and Carrington for awhile but not much else.

In the early 60s I was in Husky Stadium when Dave Grayson thought Don McKeta was going to step out of bounds after a catch, and instead he ran down the sideline and scored with 2 minutes left and Hussies win 7-6.  I was also there when Bob Berry was trying to throw to Larry Hill in the end zone, who was unfortunately being tackled by fans who rushed the field.  The refs declared the game over, a 21-21 tie.  

 

I watched on closed circuit at the old Paramount Theater as Mel Renfro got knocked out of the  game on the opening kickoff, a close Duck loss.  Like Steven A, I was in those soggy bleachers in 1968 when Woody kicked that field goal.  Joey’s dad, John Harrington, was the QB and though I was soaked to the skin and freezing cold, it was one of the greatest days of my life!
