I may not like the Huskies... but their mascot dog is really cute and I would cuddle and hug that pupper... and say "Go Ducks" in a really hyper voice to get him excited since he doesn't have anything to be excited about now with his football program haha.

Dubs is a malamute, so not an actual Husky.

  2. Anyone else see the interview with Nix’s folks about how Bo was treated by Oregon fans after the Georgia game?  The SEC fans would’ve wanted him tarred and feathered.  Instead, she saw Duck fans cheering for him as he headed for the tunnel.    Nix was given a home away from home to hone his craft.  That stuff matters, even to DL.

IF he stays, y’all probably had something to do with it.

    but…HE GONE!!  (Kidding)

  3. Thoughts on this:

Had the Fuskies done what is good and propper for them to do, and lose to Oregon, FSU would be in the CFP…and Oregon….Likely playing Liberty in the Fiesta Bowl?! 😂

Liberty, and schools like it (Hillsdale/George Fox/ect) are surging for good reason (classical liberal arts/great books) and their athletics are probably going to follow .  In 10 years this may not look like punching down.  Think Notre Dame past.  Was Pepperdine ever good?

This coaching staff are a class act and the team reflects that.   The future looks awesome.

I can’t get the image of the football bouncing off the zebra out of my mind.

  4. It used to be that if you racked up 3-4 violations in a 24 hour period you’d get a phone call and then get to talk football with Mr. Fischer for an hour or so.  Which was cool, but awkward explaining to the wife.  🙂

Heart and Soul, Charles!!....thats what made this site.   But, that level of dedication  can’t be maintained indefinitely....nor should it be necessary.  The new system should be  more than adequate.

  5. All of us have dealt with managers, the lucky few have seen leaders.  Some of you are leaders...   The differences are the capability to have a compelling vision and the ability to bring others along in making that vision a reality.

This requires the leader to have an understanding  three things...:

Purpose....why are we doing this, and why does it matter?

Principles:  The fundamental concepts and ideas that don’t change over time, They are not affected by circumstance.

Practice:  What we do, and when we do it..

And, with all that...what’s your vision?

    IMHO...

    Purpose

Elevate and teach the skills and values required to succeed and advance in this world.

We teach this first t in our student athletes, then our students, then our communities, then our nation.  Tell me you haven’t taken life lessons from the Ducks.

    Principles:

Hard Work-Duty over outcome....this is why WTD (Win the Day) was so meaningful.  We don’t change how hard work regardless of criticism or praise..that is transitory.  We work the same, hard.

Next man Up: Everyone is invaluable, everyone is replaceable.  Do what you can.

It’s a game of inches....mind the details, don’t sweat the big stuff.

These have been the same from Newt Rockney to Dan our Man.

    And finally: Practices

    for me.... the Boyd Cycle

    Observe your opponent

Orient yourself to their point ov view

Decide how to totally F’ their world up

Do It, raw, fast and gnarly...repeat as fast as possible

Practice  through iteration....as fast as possible.

    Thoughts?

    Please, throw rocks and opinions...

In he long run, these silly games matter..

  6. Bellottii as AD was perfect.

He maintained continuity in the program, and let Chip do the x’s and o’s while he took on the PR role of a head coach.  Maybe there is something to that.

there is something to the corporate structure where the board sets the strategic vision/governing philosophy (ideally) and handles the political relations...while the CEO executes the vision.  Maybe more like Church Elders-head pastor, they set doctrine...the pastor makes it happen.

    A Patriarch .. don’t call it that.

Ironically, this is where Cristobal was best suited.   Hands off the play calling, but a life coach, mentor and Brand setter.  5 Star mom’s wanted him to adopt their babies.  The Anti-Neuwiesel.

Bellottii would be exceptional football elder..
