  1. Remember when Saban did the inside kick in the title game against Clemson in 2016? It worked, but had it not I think Saban gets the benefit of the doubt. I think we try to pinpoint one decision as the turning point. Facts are that a football game is won with discipline. Fewer penalties, turnovers, blown coverages, pass protection breakdowns.

There is some symmetry there and geographic rivalries could spur these schools to up the ante on their programs. Will it compete with the 2 big leagues? No. But that ship has sailed already.

Bring back the (now Pac16) championship game and hold it in the new LA Stadium. Then go beat out-of-conference teams in bowl games

I would say have it in Vegas. You won't have either L.A school in your conference.

I think the B2G will ultimately hold some of their title games in L.A. It's now their second biggest market. Heck you might see the Rose Bowl become the B2G title game of the league grows too large. The Pac 10 may ultimately survive, but it won't be a league Oregon will want to be a part of. Neither will the ACC or Big 12 in a decade.

  3. Thank you for the Ohio State side. I saw the article and found it interesting that Ohio State would try to push their weight around when the wheels are already set in motion. The SEC isn't done adding people either. If there was an article coming out saying Florida was trying to stop expansion I wouldn't believe it. First of all no program is bigger then the conference. Secondly it's no longer regional. Hasn't been for over a decade now. The ACC is on the board next. Clemson, FSU are gonna be the next two targets.

  4. As a new poster I read the rules and appreciate the environment here. I may be a Gator fan but I enjoy all college football. This weekend I get some great games. Also I was one of those who may have added to the salt and I do apologize for that publicly. You have a great site here Charles. Thank you to all the Duck fans who have welcomed me here. Civility is alive after all.

I hope not. Ohio State has never acted out like this before to my knowledge. Now Texas and Notre Dame, that's a different story. Texas has joined a league they can't do that with. Notre Dame is the last program on that pedastal right now.

If the B1G expands, then the escalator clause kicks in and could mean an even bigger revenue pie for the B1G. Is tOSU against expansion because it means a more difficult road to the playoffs?

The playoffs are going to expand once there is two super leagues. The SEC was pushing for it last year which ironically might have kept USC in the Pac 12 had it happened. I believe USC saw the Pac 12 getting shut out of the playoffs as a big negative to it's continued involvement. There is an east coast bias as well. Now USC is in bed with the very conference who halted those expansion talks, they acted like they were in lockstep with the Pac and ACC.

One other funny reason is Ohio State got quacked out by Oregon at home. Had they beaten you they might have let you in back in June. The Bucks fear the Quack attack. Just kidding. I feel like I did back in June/July, the Ducks will be in the B1G. It doesn't make sense to have only two west coast team a thousand plus miles away from the nearest team in Nebraska.

Who else in the west makes sense above Oregon? Academics, fan base, football success, and you bring Nike. Phil Knight wants you in the B1G. We all know college football is not even hiding it's a business anymore. Oregon will be the next domino to fall. Utah may want to come along, but that's a long shot imo. Colorado, Utah, and the Arizona schools should take the Big 12 offer if it's there. Oregon, Washington, California and Stanford will be going to the B2G. Oregon State and Washington State will go somewhere.

Ohio State is reportedly the largest roadblock the Big Ten is facing for further expansion. Are the Buckeyes against more expansion?

Interesting read. I haven't been able to find anything else on this, but according to the above article it seems like a very powerful member of the B1G is against further expansion. It cites travel as one reason, but that makes little sense since USC and UCLA are already coming. I think the B1G will listen to them, but in time Ohio State will learn no one program is above the good of the conference.

So are we, GatOrlando.  So are we.

    Good luck Saturday, btw.

I wasn't aware how highly ranked Utah was to start the year. All I know is it will be a good litmus test for Napier. You guys have an even tougher one with Lanning going up against the defending champions. Here's to a Gator, and Duck victory this Saturday.

  9. Well you guys went into Columbus and won. I think that Ohio State team didn't have the physicality aspect to them. Michigan beat them essentially the same way. I think Lanning will bring in some secrets, but that could also work the other way. Hoping for a good game. I'm anxious to see our game against Utah, Alabama vs Texas, and Ohio State vs Notre Dame this opening weekend.

I believe coach quit on this team long before Ducks showed up in Salt Lake. He had full knowledge of the Miami opportunities. Throw in injury bug and Ducks didn't stand a chance.

You think there may have been tampering in season, or it was just an informal verbal agreement that the job was his at the end of the year? That's twice now that a coach has up , and left you guys. I wouldn't trust a coach with ties to Miami, or Florida State in the future.

Bama isn't the Champs. We want Georgia and we get them. After Ducks beat Georgia the SEC can spit excuses just like the talking heads did last year after UO slapped around Buckey in the Shoe.

I like the swagger. I hope you do it. But even though I am a fan of an SEC team, I don't buy into this we are the SEC crap. If you beat Georgia it isn't a black eye for Florida. Just like if we beat Utah it isn't a black eye for you. As far as beating Ohio State, that was impressive. Unfortunately it seems like you guys didn't reach that level again last year. I don't buy that Utah overmatched you, as Ohio State is bigger, and faster then them. Maybe it was the play style, but you smashed Ohio State with your physicality.

    Mistaken math

Heard a report the B1G has informed Washington, and Oregon that they are awaiting Notre Dame's response before moving on with any future expansion. I really just want Notre Dame to be pulled from their pedastal at this point. They really feel like they run the sport, and everybody let's them do it by not forcing their hand. The ACC, B1G, SEC, and Big 12 could just tell them to join a conference or bar them from playing their members. It's all about money, but the B1G needs two other western teams right now.

There will be a future where there are 20 teams in the SEC, and B1G.

    The B1G west can have:

    Pac division pod

    1.) USC

    2.) UCLA

    3.) Oregon

    4.) Washington

    5.) Stanford

    Valley division pod

    1.)Nebraska

    2.)Kansas

    3.)Iowa

    4.)Minnesota

    5.)Wisconsin

If Notre Dame joins you can put them in the East division with their traditional rivals like Michigan, Michigan State, and Ohio State. Add Penn State in there and you have a pretty equally balanced league imo. You could switch out Notre Dame with Minnesota if you really wanted to even it out.

Edit: I realized by adding Notre Dame, Kansas, and Stanford I have 21 teams🙃. I still like my model, so I'm gonna leave it. If the B1G can say they are the B1G with 16 teams, I can say 21 is 20

Hi there Duck fans. Starting out the year my favorite team will be opening up against Utah. I don't know much about them, but am excited to see a new opponent to open the year.

Anyhow, the point of my post is to just let you know that Duck fans are nationwide. I live in Arizona now, but am from Florida. I hated the additions of Texas, and Oklahoma last year. It was sleazy, underhanded, and nothing but a cash grab . Now I see the so called virtuous B1G has done the same thing they criticized the SEC for last year . It's disgusting, but this is the reality of life.

Your Ducks will be scooped up by any lucky conference. I believe the B1G is your ultimate home, so you won't be left in the cold. ASU fans are frantic right now. Their future is much less clear imo. Anyway I just wanted to add my two cents. Hope to see a game sometime between Florida, and Oregon. Hopefully we can beat down the Utes this year.
