With all of the money that pours into the University of Oregon from Nike founder and CEO Phil Knight, a handful of buildings around campus bear his name.
Matthew Knight Arena, Knight Library, and Phil & Penny Knight Science Campus all feature the man so lovingly referred to as Uncle Phil. So why not the biggest athletic building in the city?
Why is Autzen Stadium named Autzen?
The future of Autzen Stadium
As Oregon heads to the Big Ten, home to some of the most famous NCAA football stadiums in the nation, Autzen will fall short of being the most indomitable field in the conference.
To mitigate Autzen Stadium turning into a little brother, a plan was proposed to expand and create an entire Autzen Complex.
Why is Oregon's stadium named Autzen? Why not Phil Knight Stadium or Nike Field?
AUTZENZOO.COM
With numerous donations (both monetary and in uniform), a handful of buildings around campus bear Phil Knights' name. So why not Autzen?Because……without the Autzens, there would be no stadium.

Ducks lay an egg…..actually, many, many bricks…..today. It’s a shame. Even their “C” game on shooting would’ve got ‘em a victory today. Very disappointing. They seem to have lost their ability to shoot. Maybe it was the WSU defense…..but……more so: just seemed to be nerves.

Unbelievable! Nine years of college eligibility?! C’mon!
Ridiculous!

Absolutely right! $7 million a year for you and your family in Eugene? Yes, Please! Can’t beat it!
Plus….Dan’s making the next “Alabama” right here at Oregon! It’s all good!

My condolences, Mr FD. Best of Luck to you!

I would be very disappointed to hear that the Chargers hired Chip as HC.

Great analysis. As always……lotsa “ifs”.

Chargers offensive line is woefully porous and weak, causing……minimal running game, and Herbert with no time to complete plays. And……they’ve got additional deficiencies, and few strengths. No wonder their QB is injured, and they struggle to be competitive in the NFL! A complete reset and overhaul is needed. Start with the O-line, and defensive backfield…..

Bo lost the Heisman when UO lost the UW game. He was the favorite up until that game.

I’ve still got a Duck hangover! They lost a game they shouldn’t have! And….that was a stepping stone to Bigger Things. “Poof!” Gone!
Damn right I’ve got the (Duck) Blues!

I think I remember seeing him on campus when I went to school. Keep pushin’ that rock, Sisyphus! We believe, like you do, that: one day you’re gonna push it over the top! Keep pushin’!

I believe it was the players who wanted the name of the game changed. But on Game Day more than once they (the Game Day people) referred to it as the CW.
Just one player: Dennis Dixon. Overreaction ensued.

I saw that scene of Caleb heaving into his Momma’s neck. I understand his disappointment, but……this reaction is shocking! Unbelievable!

I doubt it. However, if he worked for me, he would have. After his “over-his-skis” decisions that changed a Victory over UW into a loss….it was UW who was No. 5 int polls, when it should’ve been us. And, Penix was the consensus Heisman frontrunner, when a victory in that game would have bestowed that status on Nix. We don’t get such opportunities often enough, and Lanning’s recklessness pulled the rug out from under his team. It certainly wouldn’t be inappropriate, in my book, if there had been a little “conference” amongst Lanning and UO Athletic Admin…..maybe even Phil Knight?……apres the UW debacle.

That’s what being a Duck fan is! Congrats, Buddy! “Join the Club”! That’s why it was so incredible when we qualified for “the Natty”……twice!! That’s a “reversal of fortune”! But, even there….Duckdom struck when the Auburn runner who everyone thought was down, rolled off a player’s back and……well, eventually “screwed” us again!
We keep hoping, though! All you say, and our history as Duck fans, adds to the backstory as to why it’s just so…….maddening……when our own hotshot coach….causes us….and his hard-playing players…..to grab a defeat from a sure victory. It just doesn’t happen that often, when we, as a top ten team are in position to beat,…..not just any other top ten team, but……UW! Lanning recklessly blew it,….when his job, duty, responsibility…..is to ensure victory! Two years in a row now.
So,,,,,,,there’s no way to sugarcoat it: it hurts! It’s a big disappointment. Lanning let us…..and his players…..down.
But….yes…..it’s over. What’s done is done.
All we can do is hope for the Best going forward. And, of course, we all do. That’s what we Duck fans do! Go Ducks!!!

Wilner nailed it! Very accurate description: “reckless” v. “Aggressive”.

Good News: We could get a rematch in Vegas
Bad News: we could get a rematch in Vegas.
IF. we get a rematch: dbs! Look at the BALL! UW receivers do….and they catch it! Right over your non-looking head! Where YOU could catch it….or, at least deflect it!

Thanks, Ryan! Excellent insights…….I agree with you 100%. Lanning is paid $7 million a year to WIN….and, not to be foolhardy! The time is NOW to “get with it”!

I sure hope Ferguson is okay! He’s an integral part of the team. Didn’t look good, though…..!!!

You are being generous. It’s not that our Coach is young. His decisions that turned a Victory into defeat are due to: ignorance, arrogance, and lack of wisdom. If you have confidence in your offense, do what a wise Coach, like Andy Reid would do, and…….take the points(on 4th and goal), and score more on your ensuing possessions! Coaching 101, Dan! C’mon! Sheesh! You get paid waaaay too much to cost your hard-playing team a Victory like they deserved!

Couisnard did all he could to pull Oregon forward, and extend his own college career. He fell one Dante free throw short. Thank you, Jermaine!
