Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 2 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Dan Lanning wants Oregon Ducks to continue rivalry with Oregon State Beavers, at Autzen and Reser Stadium Dan Lanning wants Oregon to keep playing Oregon State, at Autzen and Reser Stadium. The second-year Ducks coach is of the same position as UO athletic director Rob Mullens, that Oregon wants to continue playing its in-state rival even after it departs for the Big Ten starting next season. “I know Oregon State is a great example of a game that we would love to keep,” Lanning said Saturday. “We want to get that opportunity to continue to play against them. I think it means a lot to the people in this state. That’s something we want but that’s also a little bit out of our control now; we have to see how the chips fall.” Dan Lanning wants Oregon Ducks to continue rivalry with Oregon State Beavers, at Autzen and Reser Stadium WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Oregon wants to continue playing its in-state rival even after it departs for the Big Ten starting next season.

Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 4 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Oregon head coach Dan Lanning comments on Big Ten move Dan Lanning walked up to his post-practice availability on Saturday and opened by saying, “It’s fun to hear the pads pop.” That’s probably especially true considering the drama that surrounded Lanning’s football program — and the rest of the Pac-12 — until Friday. Conference realignment and media rights negotiations have dominated headlines across college sports for months. Even after fall camp began for teams around the country, the conversation remained centered around the non-football aspects of major college football. With Oregon’s future now secured — the Ducks will head to the Big Ten alongside Washington, USC, and UCLA in 2024 — the attention can start to shift back to the upcoming 2023 football season. Of course, Lanning was still asked to give his thoughts on Oregon’s soon-to-be new conference. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 5 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Dan Lanning: Oregon Ducks ‘playing against the best of the best’ in move to Big Ten Dan Lanning said there would be “a lot” coming next for the Oregon Ducks. “So sit back and watch,” Lanning said Monday afternoon. “We have really clear direction right now,” Lanning said. “It’s not the what ifs, it’s not the where are. It’s really clear where we’re going to be in the future and how we’re set up for long term. ... Everybody’s always going to recruit hard against us. Ultimately we’re not really concerned about everybody else. We have a great option to sell here and it’s only stronger now because of what happened yesterday.” Dan Lanning: Oregon Ducks ‘playing against the best of the best’ in move to Big Ten WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Lanning was confident that the school’s administrators would “make the best decision for Oregon” and that the move to the Big... Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 7 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Lanning says Austin Novosad has 'made huge strides' this offseason Head coach Dan Lanning is pleased with the progress he's seen from quarterback Austin Novosad this offseason. The true freshman from Texas enrolled in classes shortly after the calendar change in January. Early enrollment allowed him to take part in spring practice. That decision has begun to pay off, Lanning says. "Austin Novosad has made huge strides since the spring to now," Lanning said after Saturday's practice. "Austin understands the offense now. It's not turn around and try and learn it all over again. That was a lot new in a really quick time for him in the spring. To be able to go through all of summer, I think that's really prepared him well." Lanning says Austin Novosad has 'made huge strides' this offseason 247SPORTS.COM Oregon coach Dan Lanning was very high on the summer true freshman QB Austin Novosad has had since arriving for spring.
Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 8 Share Posted August 6, 2023 Teammates wowed by freshman corner Rodrick Pleasant's blazing speed As much as older teammates would like to pretend they can stick with Rodrick Pleasant in a foot race, most are ready to admit they can't. The true freshman corner ran 10.14 in legal wind and 10.09 with extra help in the 100 meters earlier this spring to become the state of California's fastest sprinter ever at the discipline. "Everybody knew who Rod was because he was basically an Olympian when it comes to track," junior corner Dontae Manning said at Monday's team media day. "He has real track speed. Track speed and football speed are two different speeds. He'll look like he's relaxed, but he's moving." Teammates wowed by freshman corner Rodrick Pleasant's blazing speed 247SPORTS.COM Oregon players are already ready to admit that true freshman Rodrick Pleasant is the fastest player on the team. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 9 Share Posted August 7, 2023 Dan Lanning highlights Austin Novosad, Matayo Uiagalelei among freshman standouts in camp One of the biggest mantras that Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning has had since taking over in Eugene is “if you’re good enough, you’re old enough.” Virtually, what it means is that there is no restriction on how old players have to be in order to get meaningful minutes on the field. If a true freshman is good enough to contribute, then he is old enough to play. So far during this fall camp, it sounds like there have been a lot of young players on Oregon’s roster who have shown that they might be good enough to have an impact this season. On Saturday after the Ducks’ fourth practice of the season, Lanning was asked to highlight a few freshmen who have stood out thus far. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 10 Share Posted August 7, 2023 Oregon co-DC Chris Hampton on cross-training: 'The more guys you play, the more buy-in you have' In his first season as co-DC and safeties coach, Chris Hampton has begun to add his marks to the room, including cross-training multiple players. Few position groups at Oregon saw as much movement as the secondary unit this past offseason. The group loses first-round pick Christian Gonzalez, safeties coach Matthew Powledge, and numerous players to both graduation and the transfer portal while seeing a significant influx of recruits and transfer portal commitments. On top of it all, former Tulane DC Chris Hampton joined the room to run safeties alongside coach Demetrice Martin at corners. Oregon's changes have been significant, but the culture established has remained. Hampton has fit seamlessly in his new role, becoming a vocal presence on the field to his players and behind the scenes when meeting with coaches.
