Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 3 Share Posted September 17, 2023 Social media reacts to Oregon's blowout win over Rainbow Warriors We knew coming into the game that it wouldn’t be much of a contest between the Oregon Ducks and Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. That was confirmed when the Ducks forced a three-and-out and drove 59 yards in two plays to go up 7-0 within the first 58 seconds of the game. From there, the route was on. It served as a nice and relaxing evening in Eugene, which was much appreciated after the stressful game that came against the Texas Tech Red Raiders a week before down in Lubbock. While scoring was plentiful for the offense, it was the Ducks’ defense that really put on a show, clamping down on Hawaii’s solid passing game and making life hard on the Rainbow Warriors. In the second half, a lot of young players on the roster got a chance to see the field and get some valuable experience as well. Here are some of the best social media reactions to the day... Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 14 Share Posted September 17, 2023 Ducks secondary shows marked improvement against Hawaii Oregon's secondary came into Saturday's matchup against Hawaii, hoping to improve upon their performance against Texas Tech a week prior. The Red Raiders, led by former Oregon QB Tyler Shough, hit Oregon's secondary hard, leaving them confused in coverage multiple times to see chunk play after chunk play land. Hawaii did not look any easier on the schedule. Led by QB Brayden Schager, the Rainbow Warriors averaged over 320 yards a night through the air and had already put up impressive passing numbers against Pac-12 and Power Five-level competition. This season, the Rainbow Warriors' sweet spot has been the deep shots (passes over 20+ yards), connecting on 11 of them on the year for 357 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions. Schager throws deep passes 18.8 percent of the time, according to Pro Football Focus, with an average depth of target over 30 yards. On paper, it was a matchup that could have become a real issue for the Ducks secondary. Instead, it was Oregon's secondary who came away with the headlines. Schager threw for 143 yards on the night, attempting over 40 passes but only completing 27. Schager reached the one passing touchdown mark with only a few minutes to spare in the fourth quarter, as the Oregon secondary limited the Hawaii offense. Ducks secondary shows marked improvement against Hawaii 247SPORTS.COM Against another high-profile passing team, the Ducks secondary, headlined by Khyree Jackson, put together its best performance of the season. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 20 Share Posted September 17, 2023 Game Recap: Oregon returns to form with 55-10 win over Hawai'i The No. 13 Ducks came into Saturday knowing that there was still a lot to clean up. The opening week demolition of Portland State made it seem that things were going perfectly. A wake-up call in Lubbock last Saturday was surely what Oregon needed ahead of its difficult conference schedule. Before Colorado comes to Eugene next week, the Ducks had to take care of business to remain undefeated in 2023. Hawaii came to town knowing that a win inside Autzen Stadium was close to impossible. It sure looked that way on Saturday. Oregon rediscovered the offensive rhythm that fans saw in Week 1 when the Ducks scored a new program high. It wasn't quite 81 points against Hawaii, but scoring on the first six possessions of the game made for an easy and exciting victory. While the offense scored relentlessly, the defense became a feared force. The pass-heavy Rainbow Warriors only managed six first downs in the first half and nearly had more rushing yards (40) than passing yards (44). Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 25 Share Posted September 18, 2023 The depth of Oregon's skill talent on full display against Hawaii It didn't seem to matter who Bo Nix handed the ball to or who caught his pass attempts, big plays were had by just about everyone who touched the ball in Saturday's 55-10 beatdown of Hawaii. Running backs Bucky Irving, Noah Whittington and Jordan James combined for 200 yards and three touchdowns on 24 carries, while 10 different players caught passes led by the quartet of Troy Franklin, Tez Johnson, Gary Bryant Jr. and Traeshon Holden. Those four were credited with four receptions each for at least 63 yards. Johnson and Holden made two end zone trips apiece. "When their number is called, they go out there and make a play. They feed off each other," Nix said of the team's receivers. "I feel like each week somebody else is doing something special. I expect that to continue to go on because we have so many playmakers. We have so many weapons. It's kind of hard to get the ball to all of them. That's a good problem to have." Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 27 Share Posted September 19, 2023 Where Oregon's offense ranks nationally in key stats following win vs. Hawaii We now have a decent sample size for the Oregon Ducks in terms of statistics to look at. Though the level of competition for Dan Lanning and his quad has not been elite thus far, we’ve seen enough action to know that the Ducks are a solid team who have a high ceiling that they can reach for this season. Now we are heading into Pac-12 play, where the level of competition will rise quickly, and the Ducks are going to have to rely on their bread and butter to get the job done. With three games to work from, let’s take a look at where Oregon ranks nationally in some key statistics offensively so far this season. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 29 Share Posted September 20, 2023 Ranking Oregon's top 10 players in win vs. Hawaii according to PFF grades Week 4 has finally rolled around, and we are all eager to look ahead to the upcoming marquee matchup against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes. Before we do that, though, there are still some things that we can learn from the Oregon Ducks’ week 3 win over the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors. It was a lopsided affair in which the Ducks were able to get some of they young players onto the field for some valuable game experience. What we want to do is look back at the stats and grades from Pro Football Focus to highlight the players who had the biggest days. In a pleasing sight to all Oregon fans, there were a pair of QBs near the top of the list, and a true freshman defender who was graded higher than the rest.
