NFL #PRODUCKS: WEEK 17

With one week left in the 2023 NFL Regular season, Pro Bowl voting came to a close on Wednesday and Oregon #ProDuck Penei Sewell earned his second straight Pro Bowl Selection.

Sewell led the Lions to their first NFC North title in team history while also allowing just one sack and 12 total pressures all season.

Week 17 of the 2023 NFL regular season was highlighted by a duo of Oregon #ProDucks tight-ends, Juwan Johnson and Johnny Mundt.

Johnson racked up eight receptions for 90 yards and a touchdown while Mundt caught four passes for 39 yards and recorded his first touchdown of the season...

10 Players we want the Chargers to take in the 2024 NFL Draft for Justin Herbert

Besides Marcus Mariota — who backs up Jalen Hurts — Justin Herbert is the only quarterback for Oregon Ducks fans to root for in the NFL, and it has been hard to watch the Los Angeles Chargers in recent years.

Head coach Brandon Staley and GM Tom Telesco were both fired earlier in 2023, and the Chargers need to make big changes before they can start to contend for the playoffs.

The benefit of another losing season for Los Angeles is quality draft capital. In the 2024 NFL Draft, the Chargers have the No. 5 overall pick and a pick in every subsequent round.

This year’s draft will be key to the Chargers’ future, and their selections in the first two rounds will be especially important.

Below is a list of the 10 players I’d like to see the Chargers select to improve Justin Herbert’s chances on offense. Los Angeles has plenty of defensive needs as well, but I’m focused on how the Chargers can give Herbert the best tools to succeed in the next few seasons...

Justin Herbert looking forward to 2024 after a disastrous 2023 season with the Los Angeles Chargers

Justin Herbert is already looking toward the offseason and the 2024 season, but he’s not quite ready to place the 2023 behind him.

The Los Angeles Chargers’ star quarterback reflected on the disappointing 2023 season and where the Chargers go from this point.

The Chargers, coming off a playoff berth in the 2022 season, were expected to reach the postseason in 2023.

Instead, the Chargers imploded, finishing with a 5-12 record during a season that cost head coach Brandon Staley and general manager Tom Telesco their jobs following a 63-21 loss to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 15.,,

The Chargers need offensive line help before offensive weapons help. If they have an option to get that early, yes!

And then maybe some young receiver(s).

But first they need to ace the GM/coach hires. But having this ownership?...okay, nevermind. Sorry Justin, maybe get traded to the Lions...?

Former Oregon Ducks’ star Terrence Mitchell signs with the San Francisco 49ers

The San Francisco 49ers signed veteran cornerback Terrance Mitchell to their practice squad, the team announced Wednesday.

The 49ers are familiar with Mitchell, who spent two weeks in the 49ers training camp. The former Oregon Ducks’ star signed a one-year deal with the team in July. He was placed on injured reserve in August and was released on an injury settlement Aug. 9.

Mitchell, a 10-year veteran, has not played this season. He’s previously played with the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Bears, Kansas City, Cleveland Browns, Houston Texans, and Tennessee Titans.

Mitchell started in combined total of 56 games with the Texans and Titans during the 2021 and 2022 seasons...

Pro Ducks: Every former Oregon football player in the NFL playoffs

Thirteen former Oregon players have made their way to the NFL Playoffs this season. While the Ducks may have fallen short of College Football Playoff glory this year, Pro Ducks have a lot of opportunities to make a big impact in playoffs.

With players across eight of the 14 teams in the playoff picture, I would argue that fans have a good chance of seeing their beloved Ducks in the Super Bowl but maybe that’s just optimistic thinking.

Sadly, there will be no Herbert or Thibodeux on the scene as the Los Angeles Chargers and New York Giants were eliminated well before the bracket was set.

The Ducks currently have 36 players on an NFL 53-man roster, here’s a look at who you can see show off their skills in the playoffs...

Five Pro Ducks set to play in NFL conference championship

Championship weekend has been set in the NFL, and the Oregon Ducks are well-represented.

Over the weekend, the Divisional Round in the NFL Playoffs took place, sending the Baltimore Ravens, San Francisco 49ers, Detroit Lions, and Kansas City Chiefs on to the next round.

The Chiefs are the only remaining team without a pro Oregon Duck on the roster, which guarantees that a former Oregon Alum will appear in the Super Bowl.

The team with the most former Ducks is the 49ers, who have players like Arik Armstead, Deommodore Lenoir, and Terrance Mitchell playing big roles.

The Detroit Lions are anchored on the right side of the offensive line by Oregon great Penei Sewell, and the Ravens have former Oregon OT Malaesala Aumavae-Laulu on the roster.

The Chiefs and Ravens will kick off Championship Sunday next week at noon PT, with the Lions and 49ers following it up at 3:30 p.m. PT...

Detroit Lions expect Penei Sewell to produce a strong performance against the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC championship game

Penei Sewell has become one of the best offensive linemen in the NFL in three years.

The Detroit Lions right tackle was a first-team All-Pro selection in 2022. Sewell could earn All-Pro recognition again in 2023, after allowing just one sack all season and being graded as the top tackle in the NFL by Pro Football Focus.

“I’m trying to be the best at anything,” Sewell told reporters this week...
