Oregon football held its seventh spring practice on Thursday morning out on the HDC practice turfs. Here is what media saw during the 18 minutes of open practice.

With the first spring scrimmage a few days away, the Ducks returned to shells on Thursday morning.

Even though it was not full-contact practice, competition was not shied away from, and the media contingent was treated to its first "fastball" period (11-on-11) of spring to close their 18 minutes on the turfs

Oregon spring practice observations: Multiple deep throws, safety absent

EUGENE — Dillon Gabriel and Luke Moga each connected on deep throws during Oregon’s seventh spring practice.

Kyler Kasper and Evan Stewart were on the receiving end of their passes, respectively, each down the left sideline Thursday morning at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex.

Their receptions came during the second period “fastball starts” 11-on-11 drill, which was early in practice for the first time this spring and provided a glimpse of actual football. The personnel groupings were not remotely reflective of hierarchy on a depth chart though.

Kasper’s catch was highly contested by Dontae Manning. Stewart pulled away in a foot face with walk-on Xavier Barksdale.

Austin Novosad threw an interception that would have been a pick-six.
