Oregon Ducks coach Dan Lanning beams with gratitude when he talks about Nike co-founder and Ducks donor Phil Knight. Yes, in part to the financial impact that the billionaire Knight has had on the Ducks program amid the booming Name, Image and Likeness (NIL) era - but also because Lanning appreciates Knight’s thirst for victory and commitment to end cancer.

And yet, I know it's Sports Speak, but Washington Fan HATES Uncle Phil. They haven't won anything since '91, so it's hard to really measure, but an Oregon loss is as close to a rub on a Huskie's tummy as a Washington win is. Don James got the 'ship, then left in a cloud much darker than Chip's, but he's revered on Montlake. Billions of dollars are right there, but nobody even comes close to Knight for UW.
