Per the article, high school football players start thinking seriously about where they want to play by about 8th grade. Ducks are often mentioned as a dream school and the advertising, branding, and not least of all, winning, apparently plays a huge part in the process.  

 

We're at 9th, one rank ahead of Mari and Miami.
