Fathertime No. 1 Share Posted October 30, 2022 I was thinking today about the number of times that we have played USC since 2011 as opposed to the other Southern teams, as the PAC 12 was: Utah 8 Colorado 9 UCLA 7; 8 if you want to count the 2011 Championship game ASU 7 Arizona 9 USC 5 I'm just trying to figure out why we didn't play them this year, or many others. Oh well, we keep a clean slate and we beat them in the Championship game and maybe we play them next year before they run and hide from us forever. ICamel No. 2 Share Posted October 31, 2022 There are two reasons for this @Fathertime Oregon plays either UCLA or USC for two consecutive years with there being a home and away game. This is per the wishes of the UofO when the PAC12 came into existence and the desire to play at least one of the schools every year and in the rich recruiting grounds of Southern California every other year.. Going back to 2011, Oregon played USC in 2011 and 2012, UCLA in 2013 and 2014, USC in 2015 and 2016, UCLA in 2017 and 2018. USC in 2019 and then Covid struck where the 2020 season didn't begin until the first week of November in an abbreviated schedule and Oregon ended up playing UCLA instead of USC in that 7 game regular schedule. We did face USC in the Conference Championship Game when Washington was the Northern Division Champion but couldn't muster a team due to Covid, so Oregon replaced those hated Huskies and beat USC to win the Pac12 Championship. 2021 and 2022 reverted to the normal with UCLA on the docket for away and home games. With USC and UCLA leaving the Pac12 in the fall of 2024, it appears the last conference game with USC will be next year. 1 1 Link to post Share on other sites More sharing options...
