Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 4 Share Posted February 11, 2023 ‘We need it’: Oregon men’s basketball’s postseason fate could hinge on upsetting No. 7 UCLA “They’re really good,” Oregon coach Dana Altman said. “Mick (Cronin)’s done a great job. They really improved their depth; the freshmen are playing really good. (Amari) Bailey, you look at his numbers in conference they’re off the chart. It’ll be a big test. Their analytics are good — everything is good. Their defense is outstanding. It’ll be a physical game. It’ll be two teams really getting after each other and it’ll be a really physical game.” Oregon remains No. 50 in NET and tonight is its only remaining Quadrant 1 game. ‘We need it’: Oregon men’s basketball’s postseason fate could hinge on upsetting No. 7 UCLA WWW.OREGONLIVE.COM Oregon remains No. 50 in NET and tonight is its only remaining Quadrant 1 game. GangGreen2 No. 5 Share Posted February 12, 2023 Would love to see the Ducks up their game tonight. UCLA is a very good squad and it will take a 40 minute effort just to stay in the game with them, let alone defeat them. If the Ducks can stay focused the entire game, and if the effort is there, they've got a puncher's chance. Go Ducks!

Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 22 Share Posted February 12, 2023 UCLA's defensive pressure thwarts Oregon's upset bid For the second time this season, the Oregon Duck men's basketball program had the UCLA Bruins on the ropes for over 20 minutes of basketball. Then in the second half, the Bruins cranked up the defensive pressure and stifled Oregon in a near-sold-out Matthew Knight Arena. The end result was a 21-4 run by UCLA in the middle part of the second half to turn an Oregon half-time lead into a 14-point UCLA lead. When the Ducks got the Bruin lead down to nine UCLA answered with an 11-2 run and led the Ducks by 18 with five minutes to play. From there it was over for the Ducks. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 23 Share Posted February 12, 2023 MBB Recap: Ducks falter in second half, lose to No. 7 UCLA 70-63 The crowd of over 10,000 fans was rocking, and Dana Altman’s squad was playing about as well as we’d seen all season. The No. 7 UCLA Bruins were struggling to keep pace, and entered the half trailing. The Ducks were in a good spot, needing a win like this to get a bid into the NCAA Tournament. And then the second half happened. I’m not sure what Mick Cronin said to his Bruins at the break, but it certainly hit home. UCLA came out of the half on a 13-0 run, quickly taking the lead and growing it from there. Oregon’s offense turned to dust and the easy looks that N’Faly Dante was getting inside were no longer there. Oregon Basketball: Ducks fall to No. 7 UCLA Bruins, 70-63 DUCKSWIRE.USATODAY.COM It looked promising for 20 minutes of game time, but ultimately the Ducks couldn’t hold on to upset the No. 7 UCLA Bruins. Pennsylvania Duck Author Moderator No. 25 Share Posted February 12, 2023 Slow Second Half Dooms Ducks The Ducks started hot, but could not keep the pace, falling to No. 7 UCLA 70-63 at Matthew Knight Arena. An eight-to-zero run to start the game was the biggest bright spot on a night where Oregon watched a halftime lead slip away down the stretch. This one quickly turned into a tale of two halves as the second half got underway. UCLA jumped out on a quick 4-0 run to take Oregon's lead away for good. Jaquez Jr. got on a roll and turned the tide in favor of the Bruins. An 18-4 run for UCLA put this one out of reach, although Oregon would make it close. GangGreen2 No. 29 Share Posted February 13, 2023 Such a disappointing 2nd half . . . execution just wasn't there, and at times, they just got outhustled by the Bruins. UCLA played very good D, but there were opportunities to be had, and rebounds available if the effort was there. And waaayyy too many turnovers to have a shot against such a solid team. The loss didn't really hurt them that much, but now the pressure is on to essentially win out, or NIT here we come. I think if they win out (and that's a big IF) the reg. season, & make the Pac 12 semis, they get into the Big Dance. . . maybe even with one loss in there. But I wouldn't want to bet on it.
