  • Examples of Getting Personal With the Players or Coaches

    From the Rules:

No. 26: Do not get personal in your posts about the current Players or Coaches: Discussing player performance and coaching decisions is what message boards and forums are all about, and encouraged. However, we must not get personal or nasty toward them. Questioning a play-call or whether a tackle should have been made (Performance-related) is fine, and give your thoughts as to why in one direction or the other.

Whether a coach should be retained or a player replaced is also fair-game because they know they are in the public sphere and that goes with the territory. Let’s discuss their shortcomings in terms of player performance and coaching decisions, but Ad Hominem attacks on them are forbidden.

To be clear, OBD members can write anything about anyone in the world, and that includes former Oregon players and coaches, as they are not current and thus you can go for it!

    Examples:

Dan Lanning needs to get a good tailor.  He looks sloppy during press conferences and games. Not anything like a leader of young men should look.  Even though Norte Dame lost if you want to see what a leader looks like check out Freeman. Lanning looks like he should be selling insurance or maybe used cars.”

This is an example of getting personal, and insulting the profession of other people as well.  Not allowed!

“So KD brought in a Dodo to lead a flock of Ducks who are trying to be Eagles. Sounds about right. I wonder who is the bigger Dodo...the Dodo that brought in a Dodo, thinking he had an Eagle or the actual Dodo? KD worked with Nix at Auburn. He should have known what type of QB he is and what type of QB he isn't by now. And he isn't a true pocket passer with a cannon for an arm.”

Calling a current coach a Dodo is not allowed.

    “Lupoi is a Bonehead.”

Pretty good example of going personal on a current coach.

“Our basketball players have embarrassing low intelligence.”

This is going personal on current players at Oregon.

“Something has always really bothered me about Moorhead. This guy has documented serious health problems and is obese. And he looks like he’s 70 years old. Well, he just turned 48! What athletic department wants to place their bets on someone like that?! What’s going on here?”

“I don’t understand Mullen, tell Moorhead Thanks, but you no thanks, you left our program, so go work on yours. Not playing the Freshman QB’s is a mistake, you need to see what you have!”

“Go to Florida, fool, and don’t let the door hit your ass on the way out.”

“Yeah, DeRuyter is trash.  He can take that weak 3-4 defense with him.”

“Stone cold liar and user just like the snake.  But he is still a liar and a fraud, good riddance.”

“Preach loyalty, do the opposite. The one thing Mario Cristobal proved is he’s a liar.”  (This was while he was still at Oregon)
