Fair, travelling to Corvallis isn't desirable anymore.

I just hope we end up drawing a highly uncommon opponent like Alabama in the Big Ten x SEC alliance (if it goes beyond the planning part)
-
TBH I don't like the cupcakes only ideology, those matchups are extremely boring and predictable, imo, what we should do is keep Oregon State permanently similar to the Colorado vs. Colorado State rivalry, an SEC opponent in case the scheduling agreement gets agreed to, and a regional opponent like Utah or Colorado.

Could Oregon Football Schedule a Week 0 Game?
Thomallister1291 replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I'm hopeful we get more scheduling news someday regardless if the idea proposed above happens or not, hopeful that we can schedule some SEC foe once the scheduling model for that conference is chosen. -
Could Oregon football schedule a Week 0 game in 2025? AUTZENZOO.COM Oregon football had what I would consider a successful first season in the Big Ten. The Ducks finished with a 13-1 record in a College... Even if this idea to improve our SOS doesn't happen this season, I'm hopeful it can be proposed to the athletic department and that we schedule a game in Las Vegas or another western stadium against a highly successful opponent like Alabama or Miami. Albeit a home-and-home series would be best!

I'm sorry for having made this kinda negative post, but I thought that we also need to think about the possibilities if Penn State somehow beats us. Doing all my possible calcs, I found out that there's only two possible seeds for us, the Number 1 seed or the Number 5 one, this is due to us having the best record in the nation so far, if we win, we'll be the undisputed number 1 team and we'll play in the Rose Bowl with a bye (I smell roses...) But if we lose to Penn State. I have a strong feeling we'll end up with the highest first round seed, which would be #5, some people would think we could be in a battle against Notre Dame for that spot should we actually lose the CCG, but I believe we'll come out on top, since we would have an extra win (12-1 compared to 11-1), most projections have the #12 seed being either Alabama or the Big 12 champion (reconciliation against Arizona State or revenge against Iowa State?). Ofc I'm hoping that we do win the CCG, but if not, I would hope we get a really weak Alabama to play in Autzen... Go Ducks!

A nittany lion is supposedly just a cougar. Anyways, game-wise, I hope we do have a chance to stop Penn State's offense and destroy their defensive line, btw I know that opponent comparison is kinda dumb but we literally beat Ohio State, a team which exposed PSU at Beaver Stadium. So I'm certain we will win.

As you all know, there was a meeting on October 10th regarding our new home and their southeastern counterparts, which went pretty smoothly in terms of scheduling, now, a few days later, it seems the possibility of an scheduling alliance is inevitable, with a lot of possible matchups bringing eyeballs to CBS, NBC, Fox and Disney. There's still some issues that need to be resolved regarding our schedules, would Oregon drop the upcoming games against Baylor and Oklahoma State in favor of Texas or Alabama? Could we continue the Civil War against Oregon State? (albeit they're no longer a Power team) Getting teams like the Longhorns or Tide to Autzen Stadium and viceversa is obviously going to be positive gains for the networks and fan interest, honestly I can't wait to see what sorts of wacky matchups this alliance brings. GO DUCKS!!! SEC, Big Ten discussing series of ‘challenge’ football games, reports say WWW.AL.COM Talks considered ‘very preliminary’ at this point

After our great win against Ohio State, bowl projectors are expecting great things from our team, with two writers in particular choosing us to play in the national championship. These are the projections so far: CBS Sports: CFP first round against Boise State 247Sports: CFP first round against Boise State and quarterfinals against BYU ESPN Bonagura: CFP quarterfinals against Georgia, semifinals against Penn State and national championship against Texas ESPN Schlabach: CFP quarterfinals against Penn State, semifinals against Georgia and national championship against Texas Ofc we still need to focus on winning all of our games left, but that win against Ohio State gave me massive hope.

Giving more thought about the Big Ten x SEC alliance that will probably happen two days before our game against Ohio State, on Thursday, October 10th, I was thinking how our future schedules, which are pretty much full between next year and 2028. Ofc this is an hypothetical as we don't know if the scheduling agreement will go through, much less how it will operate, but let's give some thoughts, obviously the agreement will require our Ducks and other teams like Ohio State to play one random opponent from the Southeastern Conference, but there's a catch, we already have some opponents scheduled (none from the SEC tho) like Oklahoma State and Baylor, which I'm sure will get canned in case the agreement does happen in favor of other teams like Alabama or Georgia. If we exclusively schedule SEC teams as our required Power opponent, then what will happen to the other two spots reserved for cupcakes? Will we keep them or will they be changed as well? For example, there's a lot of people saying our 2-for-1 home and home series with Utah State might get cancelled as well, maybe to get the Oregon State Beavers in our schedule again, since it's likely the Pac-12 won't be considered a Power league anymore, then I hope we can play both the SEC teams and Oregon State in a single season, regardless of people's thoughts on the river rat program, if everything goes as planned and as I predicted, here could be a potential future OOC schedule: Week 1: A Big Sky team like Portland State Week 2: The required SEC team Week 3: Oregon State I've been thinking that the scheduling agreement will happen starting in 2026, which is when the new CFP deal will take place, it will also be a key part of the discussions between our league and the SEC that start next week. Regardless of what y'all think of this, I'm definitely glad that Oregon will not be left behind and is part of the Big Ten, giving us Rose Bowl-esque games each season. Go Ducks!!!

An Alliance Between the Big Ten and SEC?
Thomallister1291 replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
Also, this article seemed to confirm that the meeting will happen on October 10th, AKA next Thursday. Why the SEC and Big Ten are meeting to talk CFP automatic bids and scheduling arrangements WWW.NYTIMES.COM Conference leaders want a better understanding of what access to the 12-team CFP will be starting in 2026 before adjusting their schedules. -
An Alliance Between the Big Ten and SEC?

Don't worry, the Big Ten is doing everything they can so the SEC goes to 9 games, Texas AD Chris Del Conte is also confident it will happen -
An Alliance Between the Big Ten and SEC?
Thomallister1291 replied to Thomallister1291's topic in Our Beloved Ducks
I have noticed that we don't have any SEC team scheduled as of now, and it's likely the alliance will result on us and our fellow 17 conference mates to have at least one SEC team scheduled per season. So, which teams will be chosen to fill our schedules? Could it be Alabama, Florida, LSU, South Carolina or Texas?
