I never took it as a sweeping statement about the Colorado football program or Sanders.
I did and it was a beautiful thing.

This crap will not end until OAC’s athletic department goes away. What a waste of money. Tax money.
I am willing to look beyond playing them at the urinal bleachers this year due to the return game to fill out our home schedule in ‘25. Beyond that I do hope that people in the Duck AD come to their senses and drop the idea of playing them every year and definitely not home and home. How about a home-home-away configuration over 10 years? Or how about never playing them in football? That would be the best option.
Oregonians, I feel so sorry for you having to deal with paying for them to continue their charade. I moved just in time I guess.

Did Boneyard go out of business?

If I owned the Raiders I would. They should make a deal and somehow get Chicago's pick, draft him, then introduce him to his new head coach and his new roommate, Maxx Crosby. After these introductions I foresee no problems with attitude from the rookie QB.
Maxx is tanned, rested, and ready for some attitude adjustments.

So I think the implication that Mighty Oregon is derivative of bulldog is a bit arrogant on the part of your Yalie friend. If anything, Perfect was said to be influenced by "It's a Long way to Tipperary."
Agree. I see no resemblance at all in the marches. Could it be that both have a fairly definable “break strain” or “dog fight” section where many school’s pieces do not?I’m going to the grave convinced that OAC has one of the greatest. Unfortunate but fact.

One of the least good things about Oregon is the fight song. It is the trio section (3rd section, usually featuring a key change) of an actual (crappy) march. It is, however, ours. Yay team.
UCLA and UCB share certain “fight” songs that, IMO, are great.
Stanford uses the rock tune “All Right Now” which is cool and different.
But………..
Lil’ ole OAC (maybe by luck?) has a killer fight song. Catchy, less intricate than Oregon’s, and can be played at any tempo and make sense. The best part about OAC.
We will lose every fight song battle that we choose to enter.
Funny story:I am a retired White House musician. One of the annual events I would be tasked with is performing (with a concert band) the fight songs of every NCAA champion as their reps came forward to shake hands with the President in a south lawn ceremony taking place early every summer. I played them all.
The first time I played “Mighty Oregon” at one of these events I was excited until I saw the reactions from the other musicians. Let’s just say they were less than impressed.

I love Lanning, but something is going on with the coaching relationships..
Matin now Lock
Didn't Martin go back to his alma mater? If so maybe he gets a pass?
Lock may be getting a 2X pay raise? Gets a pass from me.
OSU did a smart thing here: They got a good coach and potentially weakened a team that they may be a little skittish about this fall. I respect their 4-D chess skill in this case.

In OSU's case, I would like to see them repay the $10M they requested from the Legislature.

DC, I love your comment. But big-time B1G schools do not travel to G5 stadia even for 9 and 1.
WSU has the same broadcast issues as OSU and the stadium is tiny and very hard to get to.
Sure, my wish is based on the fact that it would really twist the knife in the gut of oac to play in Pullman once every decade yet never visit the urinal bleachers.
I would laugh.

About as often as we play Fresno State, and only at Autzen.
oac's cut of the gate should be the same as Utah State or New Mexico if they were to visit. Premium only paid to Boise with no return trip.
In the Big-10? Start acting like it Rob.
It's stupid, but I would like to see us play WSU every 3 years or so. Heck, even give them a home game for 2 at Autzen. oac not so much.

I do not know Rob Mullins. I am going to assume that he is a very capable AD due to the fact that he has been at Oregon quite a while and has not been pushed out by those who have $$,$$$,$$$,$$$ and know what is going on. Also, I'm going to assume that the possibility of "losing" the Pac-12 money going forward was baked into the cake with the AD. They must think that it will pencil out. Going forward this is what I will believe. It makes sense due to Oregon's ability to take care of itself. The math was probably done and in a few years we will be in a much better place.
******4-D chess, tin foil hat warning*********
Notice UW's AD problems? Are we reading Hardcore Husky?
Seems to me that Washington is having financial trouble. So very sad. That half share discount, IMO, will play hell with them much more than it will play hell with OBD. Will UCLA be any different? Even with a full share? I believe we have our poop in a pile and will blast through this half share era not even noticing it due to our unique situation. Washington? Not so much. This brings a tear to my eye.
OAC is doing exactly what we would do. I have to believe that this, again, was baked into the cake. Let them have their money. In the long term it is not all that much. What happens when it runs out?
I really hope they use every cent on debt from the new set of urinal bleachers they put up. The cost ratio for each toilet on that place is high. Should have put in a trough.
My biggest fear is that the taxpayers of Oregon will be supporting that whole clown show going forward. Heck, it has already started.

DAGNABIT, I read about that Senate bill earlier and was going to start my very first Fishduck thread with it. Day late I guess........
The death of meritocracy continues. At the expense of all.
Oh, and by all means Duck AD please continue to feel sorry for them and bending over backwards to play them.

Yeah.
What he said.

Yet our athletic department and coaches somehow find it important to continue to play them?
Why?

OAC’s tears are indeed sweet. What a great way to win on the road.
Give them a reason to be hopeful, then rip it away.
Works for me..

why would Rob want to have a bunch of high powered donors who have already exhibited their hubris on way too many occasions as his bosses when he has a much more manageable gig in Eugene.
I read on here that his "name was in the hat" the last time it opened up. That's all I'm going on.

I am holding Rob to his words. A&M AD just opened up did it not?

At times like this I do wish I knew enough about football to counter an argument in support of the CB and LB. I just have to lie down and take it.
I will say that I am surprised, especially about Florence.

Well that sucks. I had no idea.

I’m stupid. Why?
Covid?

Matt Prehm on 247’s board has a thread that indicates Lanning is not in Tuscaloosa. I can’t read it but the title sounds positive.

Canzano: Oregon Harmed Oregon State in a Consequential Way
in Our Beloved Ducks
Posted
I respectfully disagree. After retiring and retuning to Oregon in 1993 from suburban Virginia it took me 1 year to pack up and move out of Oregon for good. What that state did to my military pension was criminal.
I have been in Las Vegas ever since and am proud to say that any tax I may pay here does not support OAC in any way.
Oregonians need to wake up in more ways than one.
