The Mark Few's coaching squad at Gonzaga has consistently done a phenomenal job of identifying, recruiting, and developing talent for years!

Yes Gonzaga and SDSU are two teams I keep an eye on outside of the Ducks.  I've always loved how they crash the boards and are fundamentally sound but still aggressive.  SDSU is my hometown team dating back to Tony Gwynn and Micheal Cage days.

I was just more interested to find out if anyone knew if Altman pursued Gregg out of high school or if he had more interest in Spokane and Gonzaga.  I follow football recruiting more but don't remember Gregg's name popping up in any recruiting conversations.  Bittles name was all over the place around that time.  Would've loved to have seen both of them playing together in an Oregon uniform.

  2. I'll be honest, I don't pay attention to basketball as much any more outside of tournament time.

I see Ben Gregg from Gonzaga played at Clackamas.  Did Dana and the Ducks ever pursue him?  I selfishly hope he enters the transfer portal and comes back home to play!  Dang he has fun, handles the ball well, looks to have huge bball IQ, and shoots the ball REALLY WELL from anywhere!

The whole portal thing drives me crazy.  In this case I wouldn't have any problems with it.🤣

  3. I have to say I struggle with the way Altman never seems happy but he's one frickin great coach!

My brother is an avid Arizona fan and absolutely hates the Ducks(which of course I have a lot of fun with).  I was trying to talk to him after game game last night.  He was disappointed the cats couldn't make shots and blamed the players.  Altman's in game adjustments create so much confusion for opposing teams and causes those missed shots imo.

Altman knew the ducks got blown out twice trying to run with a more talented Arizona team so he slowed the game down and completely made a mess for Arizona last night (and Colorado tonight).  While I think Boyle coached a great game, he just lost,  Floyd got completely out coached and couldn't figure out how to fix it.  A simple press might've helped but he didn't.  That's on Altman!  Whatever he does behind the scenes that puts a team with multiple injuries year in and year out in the think of it every year is very admirable, almost magical!

  4. "...you guys that just got here don't know what it means, but it means something to be an Oregon Duck!"

Imagine this statement being one of the first statements you hear if you are new and sitting in on one of his first team meetings.  I gotta think they are sitting there thinking...I'm going to be well taken care of for the next 3+ years!

Guessing this is also why so few have left via the transfer portal.

My money's on Deion!  Now wouldn't that be hilarious!?  Wonder how fast that program would implode with him around!!?

I don't see Sark or Kiffin going either.  They're already big fish in football towns.  Just right for their egos!!

  6. I said it at the beginning of the season so I'll say it again...JPJ for my money.  Led what many believed might be a suspicious unit this year to one of the best in the country.

As far as defense goes, that's a tough one since most everyone improved and played hard.  Can I say, I look forward to the future potential of Matayo (don't ask me to spell his last name), Purchase, and Tuioti(yes I cheated this time)!  Those dudes motors are racing at all times.  I look forward to seeing how they are used the next couple years!!

This game was over when Dboer deferred.

Straight from the MH school of coaching.  Now the huskies get the ball to start the second half with a chance to tie.  Please tell me a winning coach who doesn't defer?

Statistics show you usually steal a possession by defering.

  9. I hope I don't jinx this but drama going into the offseason seems to be by far the lowest it's been in recent years.  I for one am more than happy about this!

    No coaching changes!

Minimal transfers coming and going when other programs are going crazy!

Great recruiting class with a couple surprises!

This Dan guy we've all been speaking of seems to have everything under control!!  Bring on the B1G...let's have some fun!!

Agree, but I think there are back-ups on our bench who have potential to be extremely special. A couple catches Holden made this season had elements I have never seen in an Oregon uniform.

The size, speed and strength Holden has is special. If he continues to impress in practices I would think he could take over as a leading receiver on next years team.

Jurrion also has the same build and if he can also put it all together our receiving group may become something even tosu is envious of.

If Junior Adams develops as well as he recruits we won't be thinking about what if a Tmac had signed and become a Duck. What matters is our guys develop and perform, and I think they will.

Totally agree on these points.  I was too tired to post too much last night.  I don't want to take anything away from anyone the Ducks already have or have coming in.  If everything bears out, we are all going to see something special for years.

Just wanted to make the point TMac was silky smooth and made catches look effortless.  I need to duck my head when saying this but think OBD would've then had their three headed monster similar to that team up north and maybe been watching a playoff game Monday instead of the Fiesta bowl..

Yeah, but I can respect the heck out of his decision, he became a part of something down in Tucson building that program with some other exciting players.  Went his own way and has become a great football player.

    Indeed!!

  12. Man watching TMac play for Arizona.  Gawd is he smooth!!  I can't help but think he was the missing ingredient for the Ducks.  Imagine Bo throwing to Franklin, Tez, and TMac!  Talking about lethal!!
