Well, that was ugly.
Penn State gave SMU the BUSINESS, securing a dominant 38-10 victory over the Mustangs earlier this afternoon.
Just about everything that could possibly go wrong for SMU went wrong.. and yet, the Nittany Lion's beatdown of their first CFP opponent brought back thoughts of the B1G Championship Game, and I couldn't help but think to myself:
"This game highlights just how GREAT Oregon really is!"
Penn State's defense was all over SMU from the jump, and by all accounts they had a fantastic day. And yet, this same dominant defense had absolutely NO ANSWER for Oregon. No answer whatsoever.
Safe to say, That Team Out West is gonna be hard to deal with!

Should we win it all, it'll quickly go from, "You've won 0 championships" to "Well, you've only won one! Come talk to me when you've won 7 or 8!"
I live in the south, deep in the heart of SEC country, and one thing I can tell you with an absolute certainty is no matter how good you are, you will NEVER be good enough in their eyes.

Maybe I'm just naive.
It's possible. After all, I'm only 31 years old.
Or maybe I'm just BIASED. Yeah, that's it. I have no problem admitting that. I LOVE me some Oregon Ducks, man.
So I beseech you, my fellow Duck fans, particularly the elder statesmen among you. Perhaps one of you can explain to me how Oregon has held the No. 1 ranking since the Illinois game, won the B1G in their first year, secured wins over THREE playoff teams, finished the regular season as the nation's ONLY unbeaten team, and yet they don't have a single 1st team All-American?
HUH?!
So let me get this straight: No first team All-American, only ONE second teamer, and only TWO third teamers, one which was a Heisman finalist, no award winners outside of Bryce Boettcher (unless I'm missing something), no coach of the year, head coach, assistant or otherwise, no NOTHING. If I hadn't watched a single game, I'd think that Oregon's unbeaten record was a fluke and that they were just a bunch of lucky Ducks (pun intended) who would soon have their luck run out.
But of course, I know better. I saw the games, all of them. OBD have EARNED that top ranking many times over.
So what gives?

He's supposed to be an EXPERT?
Hey Brian, I hate to break it to you, but with reasoning like that, you're not predicting Oregon to lose.
You're just HOPING they do.
You're hoping that they finally drop a game, so you can tell everyone, "See?? See?? I was right!! I told you they'd lose!!" That is quite disappointing. I expect more, although I'm not sure why I do.
Apparently a lot of people can't stand the fact that Oregon is quite possibly the only truly ELITE team in the country, and that they've been holding that No.1 ranking like a war veteran coming home for the holidays.
Oregon's here to stay. Deal with it.

The new "Ducks vs Them" is out, and I am now thoroughly convinced that Dan Lanning is an absolute PSHYCHOPATH.
He is a maniac of the highest order, and I am all the way here for it.
What football coach do YOU know that actively encourages their team to dance to the opponents hype song, use that aforementioned song against them, win a tight game in THEIR PLACE, and then play that same song AGAIN while celebrating in the locker room?
This is truly diabolical behavior, and I love every bit of it!
Check it out!

After weeks of playing with fire, the Miami Hurricanes finally got burned.
At the time I'm writing this, the U has just been upset by Georgia Tech. The Hurricanes were behind the 8 ball pretty much all day, but did have a chance to win in the waning moments.
Naturally, they fumbled, because REASONS.
THIS is the FULL WEIGHT of the Mario Cristobal experience: Rattle off a bunch of too-close-for-comfort wins, have a great QB at his disposal and a CFP contender on his hands, only to turn around and lose to a team that has NO BUSINESS winning. How much do you wanna bet that they weren't "physical enough" to win?
As a Duck fan, this frustrated me to no end when Mario was here, and I'm sure I'm not alone with that.
Needless to say, we've definitely traded up with Coach Lanning.
Congratulations Miami. He's YOUR problem now.

Coach Lanning is AWESOME. I just watched the hype video for OBD vs. Michigan, and this man dropped some BARS.
"We don't even feel success because we're not satisfied."
"We don't spend time trying to prove doubters wrong, we spend time proving ourselves right."
CHILLS.
Check it out!

Welp, Kalen DeBeor is going down south to Alabama to try to fill Saint Nick's shoes!
So let me get this straight. Washington is:
-reeling from an embarrassing loss in the Natty
- going to a tougher conference
- making half of what everyone else is
- has less talent than half their new conference
- loses all its best players
- loses its head coachdid i miss anything?
I SHOULD be sympathetic. As a Duck fan, I too have felt the anguish of losing a beloved coach to another gig. It sucks, I know, so I absolutely SHOULD be sympathetic....
But I WON'T!
I shall bathe in the misery of Husky fans everywhere, and relish every second of their collective meltdown, and I shall do so with a smile on my face!
In the words of Mr. Charles Fischer himself...
"I never said I was NOBLE."
