Still hard to imagine more than 2 losses in there.
1 great team, 1-2 good teams. The rest it's mostly too soon to tell definitively, but they probably range from average to terrible IMO.
Of the 3 (tOSU, UM, Illinois) really good teams we play, 2 are at home. Wisconsin might improve, but their offense was already challenged before losing their QB. Any losses to the rest of the schedule would be a significant upset. I personally think Wisconsin is on a bad, warm coaches seat type of path.
Despite their most recent efforts collectively, not playing Nebraska, Iowa, USC, and PSU this year is an advantage. Those are all probably bottom end of the top half of the conference this year...it feels like we're playing a lot of the bottom half.

Those are all very good first stabs. Could probably fish around some B12 sites from the last couple years to find a lot of ideas.
I’d lean towards scrap-12 myself, adds a bit more oomph than just saying they suck. Be nice to find three letters that work, that’s what made the PIG2 so brilliant 😂
I'm sure Seattle U and Grand Canyon are doing great things in the historic WAC!

Currently the Pac? is NOT a bona-fide conference. They need a minimum of 8 teams. So until the 2026 season, they can qualify for a bowl but will miss out on playoffs. They were given 2 years to figure things out by NCAA.
Whatever teams result in being in the Pac, they will never be granted an automatic spot in current playoff format. They need to be highest ranked G5(or 6) conference winner.
The powers that be, SEC and B1G, will not give a renamed MWC a place at the playoff trough.
Besides winning conference, they will need at minimum, one major ooc win.
Just another reason to not schedule them every year.
The PIG2 are considered independent this year and next, and can only make the playoff as an at large…being highest ranked G5 means nothing for them. If the playoff was today Boise would be in as the highest and only ranked G5, but only if they won the MWC.
It does beg the question that I don’t know the answer to. What happens if there isn’t a ranked G5 conference champ?

“Automatic bid” is a bit of a misnomer I think. As it stands currently, a future PAC winner doesn’t just get in from winning the conference, they still have to be one of the five highest ranked conference champions…that’s the only criteria for an auto-bid, including the P4. It’s assumed the four highest ranked conference champions will come from the P4, leaving 1 for the best of the rest.
Technically, in a future year, if for some reason the CUSA and AAC champs were ranked #13 and #14, and for whatever reason one of the P4 champs was ranked below that, the lower ranked P4 champ could be left out entirely.
I would also add it’s assumed by many that the rodents will be kingpins of whatever conference they cobble together.
Not so fast my friends!
The rodents are currently a product of the company they kept in the old PAC, but they still sunk to the bottom of that group of friends historically. The core reasons they sunk remain. Teams like SDSU, BSU, Fresno, and UTSA could easily surpass them within the G6 space.
I predict they’ll be facing the same uphill fight in a lesser PAC.

There’s a reason 2 teams have dominated the conference lately with a rotation of other teams rounding out the top 5. If USC had been USC the last 10 years, the PAC would have been the better conference imo. People couldn’t wrap their heads around a team like Utah being every bit as good as say, PSU for at least the last 5 years.
Your perspective is right on from my view point. The 4 additions will help a lot…but there are a lot of Mississippi State or Cal equivalents in the conference. Teams that are solid when senior dominated, but very mediocre most other years.

Beavis should have enough horses to get to at least 7 wins, I can’t see them losing more than 4 more games with that schedule. Barring significant injuries I’d guess 8-4.
Lot of games coming up just short of the upsets I was wanting this weekend, pretty much a meh day for outcomes, for me at least 😂

Don't misunderstand, I do care about these schools and hope that they can work out something to their satisfaction. Whether All Y'all are satisfied with what they come up means little to me and, I suspect, to the participants in the new PAC-12, 10, or whatever.
It is late, I don't mean to come across as overly preachy, but that's my say and I'll now clam up.
You’re spot on.
The recency of playing these clowns and living in PDX makes it flair up a bit…but I could see my interest fading fast. No matter how clever the teams they add are, watching UTSA play CSU in a conference tilt is still a yawn fest.

In an average year, we will play 3-4 ranked teams in conference, 1 ranked team in the conference championship, and 3-4 ranked teams in a full playoff run. That’s up to 9 ranked teams, don’t make OOC harder than it needs to be.
To me, making the playoff is what is most interesting. IMO interesting OOC only becomes interesting if you’re expecting to go 6-6. When OBD will ideally be playing 16-17 games in a great year, and at least 13 games in a good year, I personally couldn’t care less who we play in the 3 OOC games. This is something OBD can control, so use these opportunities to gel wisely..bring on Tiddlywink U to Autzen.
If the river rats fall into that model, fine. If not, bubye.

Right.
The MWC is arguably the #5 conference currently. So it makes sense that rebranding it the PAC, adding the piggies and a couple random teams would keep it at #5.
$100m+ spent and introducing national travel will result in exactly the same thing as just joining the existing MWC. I’m sure the 3 or 4 teams that will be left out in the cold will appreciate the revenge bully tour.
Good job?

I mean, for me it begins and ends with UW '94, amazing finish that reverberated way beyond the game itself. Cliche right?
Some random moments that stuck with me:
At the individual level, UCLA in '98 is one that stands out. Reuben Droughns playing with a broken leg was an all-time epic effort for me, even though we ended up losing in OT.
Gregg Trapp sending UCLA to OT from behind the backboard in 1984.
3OT win over USC in 1999 stands out as well

While what you said is accurate as far as what needs to be accomplished to provide a conceivable path to the playoff, Scott Barnes has in recent weeks regularly referred to themselves as P5...and they are not striving to be 5th best.
Let's also not distort previous uses of the phrase "moral high ground". No one backstabbed the PAC IMO, management ran it into the ground and teams left when the grant of rights expired. The PIG2 have routinely played the victim card and claimed they were betrayed and that only they were "loyal" (AKA had no options).
These same high-minded, loyal PIG2 have now intentionally, by choice, been the architects of the destruction of the MWC. I understand they're doing what they need to do, but to paint a picture they're anything but hypocrites is false IMO. Own it piggies.

Let me see if I have this right.
- Cozy up to MWC when in desperate need of a schedule
- Use pilfered funds for hostile takeover of your new scheduling buddy, possibly destroying a conference in the process due to your actions
- ”Reimagine” the MWC as the new PAC with the 2 historically worst programs from the “real” PAC showing the way
- Claim P5 status
This is moral high ground? To me, the only conceivable way this becomes “P5”, which in reality means nothing, is if they continue to completely contradict themselves and add the top 2-3 programs from every G6 program across the country. The second they do that they lose their niche of becoming the “premiere west coast conference”…and it would still be debatable if that is a power conference.
That’s a whole lot of bullying to end up in the same spot as joining the MWC.

Look at the rest of that schedule....whew! Is that the opposite of what Oregon or Georgia has as a schedule?
2024 Football Schedule
WSUCOUGARS.COM
The official 2024 Football schedule for the Washington State University CougarsWould be an interesting test of the system. Will they crack the top-11 going undefeated and receive one of the 7 at-large bids? Would be close, but stretches my imagination to see them getting the nod over a 10-2 team from ANY of the P4. Could have had a real shot if they'd just joined the MWC, hope they enjoy the bean-counter victory.

Case in point to my other comments that somehow they're doing us a huge favor by playing us. Such rage! 🤣
QuoteThe Beavs should never pay them to play at Reser again. Ever.
The *ucks wanted this divorce and there's no reason to pay them another dime for the privilege of playing in Reser.QuoteFTd! Why give them a cheap road game? Make them pay to fly to the mid-west or east coast to play with their new friends. Those a** **ckers left us for dead. Never Play Them Again!

Google says the current MWC total deal is $6M per with $4m coming “purely from media value”, whatever that means. I think the scrap top-end is $10M.
