Also, I think the bad weather thing is a little overrated too. With exception of the PO games we are talking about late fall Midwest weather for at worst, which isn't that bad 95% of the time.
I'd strongly prefer 20-30 degrees and dry vs 40 and raining having played football in both.
I think they use the weather as an excuse for archaic offensive systems. As in we have to have a strong running game in case the weather is bad. Ok but what about the other 95% of the games where you can't keep up?
Even Fickel at Wisconsin has seen enough to feel confident to bring in the air raid.
I love the narrative that we somehow played all our games on a beach in 70 degree weather. Salt Lake? Boulder? Pullman? Pacific Northwest (3 other schools), games where it was over 100 at kickoff in the desert in the early fall? Gorgeous pouring rain in the Bay Area in November?
We are at most likely looking at one additional bad weather game of snow this year versus any other year in the history of OBD.

Was the B1G really any better than the PAC last year? Clearly Michigan was better than UW, but both went undefeated and made the final. Continue down the line and I’d argue the top 5 were pretty on par.
Be curious to see how much better the rank and file of the conference really is. I’m starting to think the answer is marginally so at best. They too will be dealing with an improved conference adding at least one more mega game to everyone’s schedule versus last year.
Looks like a bunch of UCLA’s to me! -

Talking season is leading some commentators to go big on Lincoln Riley

Lincoln Riley is the subject of some remarkably wild opinions from national college football commentators.Maybe the Miami job (not the Dolphins) will open up?
So either getting fired or hired away by the Dallas Cowboys? Psychotic.

As is the case on many events my head is buried deep in the sand on this one. First I’ve heard of it.
Interesting to see the outcome for sure. I’ve been attacked by a homeless person, loaded on something, in OC and trust me it is a scary moment to say the least. I reported it to a Police officer a few minutes later and her comeback was. Do you want to press charges? I almost laughed at her. Told her I just wanted to inform her that it happened.
My point is the Police officer wanted nothing to do with it, nor do the courts, she just wanted to be on her way.
Sad situation for sure but it’s the way of the world in the Willamette Valley.
Not just the Willamette Valley, I’ve had all sorts of encounters coast to coast.
Drove my wife to drop something off for work at a building on the east side (PDX), parking lot looked clear, I waited for her, just out of sight, maybe 100 feet from the front door, in broad daylight mind you. Somewhere between the car and the door of the building, an individual with a face painted red, started getting in her space and menacing her, a bystander (large dude) intervened by yelling “back the F off” multiple times.
Point of my story, I can empathize. One slight twist and the red faced person could have been killed, easily. Completely unknown if they actually meant to harm my wife, but who wants to find out?

I get what you’re saying, and it could be true of anyone until we find out in real live action…but how do you know about someone’s intangibles unless you are a coach, family friend, or teammate? Dude hasn’t even taken a snap for us yet, what are these intangibles of which you speak? Asking for a friend 😂

Great rundowns! The bowl tie ins and mindset need to all go, pronto.
Personally the 12-team format would be more difficult for me (if I was on the committee) if the top-4 weren’t automatic. Determining the top-4 without a conference championship requirement would be incredibly difficult.
That being said, I still think 12 teams is easier than 4. We previously had a system with 4 spots and 5 power conferences, guaranteeing at least one P5 champion would be excluded every year. It’s actually amazing to me that there wasn’t a seismic occurrence prior to FSU, a year where every conference champ finished 11-1 for instance. The demise of the PAC makes this far easier.
I personally don’t believe it would be that difficult to tell a 9-3 team that finished #12 at the end of the season they didn’t qualify for the 12 spot tourney…tough luck buttercup, lose one less game next time Okie State.

Crazy average!
At first I though you were talking about how few recruits Beavis has on the board *yuck yuck*
Did you hear about that great recruit Beavis is hosting this weekend?
Oh wait, they aren’t hosting anyone…but I hear in an effort to retain some players from being poached by Arizona State they’re having a good sack race soon. They do things the right way.

How do they keep that website with a straight face and no shame? If there was any mojo left in the brand, it will be destroyed completely over the next year.
All games “broadcast nationally”…meanwhile they’ll need an FAQ on how to get an antenna hooked up to your TV.

Landing the Recruit - "we're awesome, he's coming here because we have a fantastic program and coaching staff and they bought into our vision for the future and love our tradition."
Losing the recruiting - "We only lost because of NIL and we weren't willing to pay that price. Besides we don't want so-and-so because they're all about the money and our head coach doesn't want them because they won't fit our culture which is unique and special."
The reality is that NIL comes into play with almost every recruit. Certainly every recruit that teams recruiting in the top 10 are after.
Each NIL group and coach will know what a player is worth and may opt to not match a bid if there are other targets that are greater priority.
But in this case... Texas and Sark absolutely wanted Moore. We'll never know the NIL price tag or the back and forth that took place. But I'm sure when the smoke settled the NIL payouts were darn close if not exactly the same and it was coaching and connection that won out.
By the sound of it this one came down to the wire.
It’s still a strange phenomenon. Everyone vividly remembers them desperately wanting him 5 hours ago. Nobody hits 💯 on their prospects, it’s okay.
But clearly, he’s safe. Texas fans wouldn’t endorse trying to flip such a questionable culture fit. 😂

While it is not a guarantee, those of us who have followed recruiting over the last 20+ years know that verbals come through about 95% of the time. It is common we lose a verbal or two, and then turn a committed verbal or two elsewhere our direction.
One reason this could be a biggie, is because it solidifies our position as a place where 5-Stars go...especially since we are finalists for a few others like no other year.
Solid points, and I can see how it would help marketing growth and momentum…but I personally still won’t know his name until June 2025.
I just find it fascinating to watch this evolve in the context of the portal era.

Great chart!
As to the original question/statement, the correct answer is a question…you aren’t?
Good luck with that.
