I can’t imagine they didn’t take us seriously in the first game. By what standard? Did they party the night before? Is that the same reason they lost to Michigan?
We beat them in their place prior to the game at Autzen, it was the national game of the week, Chip was returning to Eugene with a contender, etc. If they didn’t take that game seriously they need to up the meds.
All my opinion of course and with all due respect.

I think UW had 17 turnovers give or take and averages closer to 6, was all about the D. I really don’t recall seeing Angel from about the 4th quarter mark on. If Bamba was the scoring threat he was supposed to be we’d be rounding into a very dangerous tournament team.
BTW - why is this the only version of basketball without quarters?

I actually forgot we had this game, against UCLA, where my daughter is a senior no less. I wasn’t out and about either. I was at home, and had the time and access to watch.
My brother lives in Eugene, has season tickets, and has to force himself to go. I live in PDX and have an open invite to any game that I have not yet taken him up on. We are lifelong fans and both have worked at the UO at various points in our careers.
All that being said, IMO this is the most boring ranked Duck team I can remember. I’m guessing it’s what I see as a lack of fire or high flyers on the roster. Lack of personality IMO. Feels like a serviceable roster that makes the tourney but loses on opening weekend and shrugs.

I suspect he has a goal or desire to get a super bowl ring to go with his national championship ring.
Can't get that without being in the NFL.
In terms of comfort these guys are set up for life with what they're paid. Ease of the job isn't really a factor.
It'll be all about his goals and what he wants to achieve.
At a certain point one would think he has enough to never need to work again because of the $ and having it be easy or risk free really isn’t a priority.

Another comparison point which looks bad for us right now is NIL spending. NIL gets spent on players who were not only blue chip recruits out of high school, but who have proven to be great players at the college level, so I would argue it makes an even bigger difference.
I think we need to flat out spend more on NIL. I never used to think this way, we have 'done more with less' for many years. But if my understanding of where Oregon ranks is correct (someone correct me if I'm wrong), we rank #19 nationally in NIL spending, and while we spent about $12m this year, Texas, Ohio State and a few others spent north of $20m. That's a massive difference. We're way behind Michigan, and behind even Indiana and Mich. State in NIL spending. It's starting to look, at least to me, like we can't field a roster that is strong enough from top to bottom to bring ourselves into parity with teams like Ohio State unless we spend NIL money that is at least in the same ballpark as other top teams. Being ranked 19th in such spending (that is among public universities only, we're likely lower than that if private schools are included), and being outspent nearly 2-to-1, appears to be a serious handicap. I'm not saying it should be this way, and maybe some kind of NIL spending caps will be put into place, but for now I don't think this can be ignored. Everyone who doesn't do the research assumes Oregon is a big NIL spender due to the Nike connection, etc., and maybe we need to do a bit more along those lines.
I don’t think anyone believes that NIL number.
I’m also starting to think it just happens to be that tOSU had the best roster in 2024/25 and there is no deep problem to solve aside from our great recent recruiting classes bubbling to the surface more as the original post demonstrates.
We managed to beat the best team once at home and win the conference that saw the eventual champ finish 3rd in, they just kicked our butts in the tournament, it happens.

Whether Prime moves on or not his hire was one of the best moves by an AD ever.
The money paid to Prime and the NIL money paid to players he brought in including a Heisman Trophy winner? One of the best ROIs if not the best ever scored in the history of CFB. A CFB non-entity post-McCartney (RIP) for the most part became must-watch TV.
Folsom Field went from @20,000 fans a game to sold out with a long line of folks on the waiting list.
This will be a loss for CU and for a B12 trying to reamain relevant in CFB.
Couldn’t be more right, probably won’t sustain, but a great ride for a 2 years.

B1G Basketball Attendance
in Our Beloved Ducks

I’ll say again, for me it’s who we’re playing and the fact that I can watch on TV instead of driving in from Portland. I had a free ticket for any game this year as many times as I wanted, and went zero times. Combine all that with a generally sagging interest in college hoops until March and you get the attendance we have.
I grew up in Mac watching Greg Trapp from behind the basket against UCLA because if I didn’t go, it was radio only. An old rickety Mac against Northwestern on a Thursday night, driving in from PDX, wouldn't sweeten the deal for me 😆
