  1. Definitely a hockey fan! My favorites in order: 1) NCAA FB 2) NFL 3) NHL (Columbus Blue Jackets) fun fact for everyone, the Blue Jackets name is a nod to Ohio’s Civil War importance. Quite a few Generals from OH (William Tecumseh Sherman!), but also there was a factory in central OH that made the uniforms for the Union. That’s also why you see the Civil War era canon fire after goals. I attended the home playoff games in 2019 where we beat Tampa and then lost to Boston and those games were second only to the 2006 OSU/Michigan game (1 vs 2) in terms of atmosphere and intensity. If you ever have the opportunity to attend an NHL playoff game, do yourself a favor and GO!!!
  2. I feel like Charles and Jon should be honorary Buckeyes!
  3. Like I said earlier in the thread, NOTHING makes the fans around here happy. I’ve got a buddy that complained the team let up vs UT (TN), UO, and ND instead of just being happy for a great 4 game run and a championship. There are 3 common categories of fans here: 1) rational-didn’t want Day fired and supported him 100%. This is a small group but it exists and is much bigger than you think. 2) The fire Day crowd-no threats, just no tolerance for losing….ever. Most of the people in this group never really played sports at a highly competitive level. Sadly, this was probably the largest group. 3) The Lunatic Fringe-we all know who was in this group. While small in numbers, they’re quite vocal and seem to garner the most attention. I’d love it if we’d start to prosecute them when physical violence is threatened. I am and always have been in the 1st group. Winning like Saban did is near impossible and shouldn’t be expected by any fanbase. I am happy that we have a good team every year and have a reasonable chance to compete for a title frequently. Arguing with the Lunatic Fringe is like one side of the political aisle trying to convince the other that they should change their views. It sounds great in theory but is a losing proposition. For the record, I have quite a few friends who are Michigan fans and we get along just fine.
  4. Does UW dislike you guys or WAZU the most?
  5. Now you guys get a sense of why we hate them so much. Yes, hate is metaphorical here, at least for me, but it is safe to say I have more dislike for this team and fanbase than all others combined. In general a smug fanbase, that until last year, had absolutely no reason to think so highly of themselves.
  6. A quick glance of threads and I didn’t see anything on the UM investigation RD wrote up yesterday. My thoughts as a totally biased Buckeye fan: 1 It is absolutely an advantage to know what the other team is doing on a given plan. 2 Sign stealing in itself is not against NCAA rules. The issue the NCAA has with UM is HOW they stole signs. 3 All coaches, including Harbaugh, knew. Hell, every staff in the conference knew what UM was up to, and no one with any reasonable logic believes that JH was the only one that didn’t know. 4 The NCAA is out for blood and UM is hanging by a thread. The only question is what degree of punishment is levied. UM has been belligerent from day 1 and it is going to come back to bite them big time. 5 I believe (hope) that vacated wins from 2021-23 seasons are on the table. None of this will erase my memories of the last 4 games…..but it will enhance my enjoyment of the offseason! What are your thoughts?
  7. Thought you guys might appreciate this. I was feeling pretty good for most of the game but when OSU got the ball back up 8 late, I started to stress pretty bad. QB run on 1st down-frustrated QB run on 2nd down-frustrated 3rd down deep ball to JJ-I look at my heart rate on my Oura ring app and…..111 beats per minute
  8. Perfect! One of these days I’ll take the time to learn how to include videos and gifs
  9. My 2 cents as a Buckeye (homer) fan. You remember that scene in STAR WARS where Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi are fighting? Just before Ben is killed, he says to Darth “You can’t win Darth. If you strike me down, I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.” Michigan unlocked Obi-Wan Buckeye
  10. I took the bait! I saw the title, thought to myself, “hmmm, let’s see what someone outside of Columbus thinks about this game”. You got me!
  11. The talk out of the team since the game is to fix the penalty problem. They felt they were doing just fine but found themselves in a 20 yd (or more) to go scenario too many times. I think you need to credit the Texas D a bit, I’m of the opinion that a holding call isn’t a choice by the offensive lineman but a reaction to being beaten. I agree with the concept but don’t think it’s as easy to fix as some might think. On a separate note, word locally was Michigan sent their DC Martindale to Austin last week? Anyone outside of Columbus hear that rumor? We’re a miserable bunch here so I don’t take anything too seriously that I hear on the local beat.
  12. Overall I felt the teams were pretty evenly matched from a talent standpoint. The UT defensive line and the consistent double coverage of JJ Smith made it really difficult on tOSU. I thought for sure Chip/Day would anticipate that and have plenty of plays to attack with a numbers advantage and that didn’t seem to be the case from the TV copy. Both teams had opportunities for big breaks that didn’t go their way: Texas -drop by WR on 3rd down -turnover on downs first drive -couple of holding infractions not called -screen pass for td -strip sack/TD OSU -personal foul on Henderson as they’re driving to possibly go up 10 or 14, killed drive -personal foul on an offensive lineman hustling downfield to push the pile, killed drive -Texas fumbled punt that bounced back to returner -Ewers fumble on a sack that was recovered by Texas -couple of holding infractions not called (still haven’t drawn one since September, yes, I’m serious it’s been that long) Everyone wants to focus on the 2 breaks that went OSU’s way and understandably so, they were big breaks, but overall I saw this as a pretty evenly matched contest with a slight lean to OSU. What say all of you?
  13. I don’t know much about the basketball Ducks but I can tell you Value City Arena (yes, that’s the name) is not a difficult place to play in for visiting teams. The (lack of) noise you hear on TV is an accurate representation of what it’s like there.
  14. tOSU 38-20 1 3 260-UT would be out of their mind to play anything other than a soft zone forcing underneath completions and runs into a light box.
