  1. The defense giving up a 50% 3rd down conversion ratio? Giving up 29 points per game? Whew! The good news? There is a ton of upside, this is Lanning specialty and when that is brought down to 20 points per game with our offense....look out!
  2. If we had scheduled and beat Wyoming for example--we are poised to be in the Playoff. This is a scheduling issue, but yet--the payoff for the AD was significant. Not to mention the national eyes if you showed well. The gamble of scheduling....
  3. Unrated by Rivals, and no other offer listed by them. (I don't doubt the New Mexico offer on another site) On3 says he is 6'6" and 330 lbs. Three years to play two and is a redshirt candidate, when he gets here to further develop his raw abilities.
  4. Damn right David. Kirk Herbstreit did not pick us on Saturday, but he made a very astute comment in the past... College Football is better when Oregon is Elite (And everyone loves the Duck!)
  5. Canzano reported that his contact, a former exec in the business, stated that these negotiations for streaming are very complex and take a ton of time, hence why we have not heard anything. It can go as long as another couple of months before things are ironed out. Something I have to ask myself..."do we need the same revenue amount as the B1G members?" The answer is no, if we can fund our sports and objectives on the new media/streaming contract. The Mountain West, for example, will receive a fraction of what we are receiving and will survive and play on. The Big-12 will not have revenues like the big two, but they will survive. Since I do not know the inner working of the athletic budget at Oregon, what Mullens plans are, what Phil is going to leave us later, etc....it is hard to know what it takes to thrive. But I do feel at this time that when addressing all the money of the B1G would offer, yet considering the travel, impact to fellow Pac-12 members, busted partnerships and traditions...
  6. We will be hosed at eight--guaranteed. They will not assure conference champions, so we will be on the outside at eight, IMHO.
  7. It was here in the forum, and still on the front page.
  8. Yes, I know he gets paid more than any of us can imagine, but doesn't this photo say a ton? This comes from taking hours of notes of the telecast, including moments for screenshots for my own use in the forum and for the writers of FishDuck. This one hit me more than others, and thought I'd share it. That is Joe Lorig on the left...
  9. That would destroy the athletic budgets at most universities. They need those games to pay for all the other sports. The only teams affected by the additional games are less than 5% of the total NCAA schools beyond one extra game, and they are going to be paid handsomely for being there. Part of the winning effort--having depth. Don't penalize 95% when the 5% are going to clean up financially....IMHO at first blush.
  10. I am guessing, but since our pass rush is weak....we need help, and you offer a bunch and find out who is the star?
  11. You mean you want someone like this? Donte Dowdell, 2023 Verbal Recruit to Oregon
  12. You did not get any response because we all agreed with your rankings, and now the "experts" at ScoopDuck do as well. You would be surprised at the articles written on other sites after the topic was published at FishDuck first. A high complement to you David, and well deserved.
  13. In the miraculous comeback at UCLA in the 1970s...Coach Ken Woody was the kicker and did the same thing. Kicked the onside perfect, and recovered it himself. That is one time I love history repeating! Ken Woody kicking the winning field goal against Washington, under the hold of John Harrington, Joey's father. How cool is that?
  14. I am fully expecting that as well. I figured whoever was No. 4 and No. 5 (with Dowdell coming) would be leaving, but frankly I thought Noah Whittingham would be one of them. He has been quite the surprise to me.
  15. I think this is a great article for "why not" here at Oregon? Everybody would win!
  16. Great point, and so true. I am very happy for him and the team that he has turned into such a reliable resource. We will need him at crunch time in the future, and technically--he kicked the wining points versus Washington State this year too. (44-41)
  17. Please keep in mind two points this is all brought up...1) when something is taken from a pay-site, I wait 24 hours before discussing here. People pay for the right to that information to be immediate, and thus I wish to honor what those sites are doing. Their subscribers who want to eat up new information will read it over there inside the 24 hour period. 2) Byron has not left, and is still practicing with the team. This means that he WILL have four games to play in and yet retain a redshirt year. (I do not know if he has been on the field yet) So in case of RB injury or dings, Cardwell is available to help the Ducks yet this season and raise his NIL profile with a future team. Or he wins his spot back with the Ducks. Having fresh legs in relief from a proven RB can be quite an asset at the end of the season?
  18. I was surprised to see Bridges start the season, and continue to start, as I thought for sure that Manning would win that corner spot. Even with the burns--Bridges has been improving and I think the coaches have decided to take their lumps with his learning curve. I also believe his length is a major factor because of the tactics behind this defense, considering what their objective actually is. Much more on that in my Thursday article where we can discuss fully at that time.
  19. A day ago...someone was asking about Cardwell on another (pay) Oregon site, and a number of people were offering their guesses. Then the owner chimed in, (who makes a living on having inside contacts) and confirmed the different theories. Byron got hurt, but upon healing could not move up the depth chart. After seeing the running backs here, and the Mississippi RB coming...he is practicing, but not playing and thus preserving a redshirt year. It is assumed he will transfer at the end of season. Like you, I penciled him in for a 1,000 yard year, but we can never guess what will happen at times.
  20. I did not know that. Good call!
  21. Damn right. This feels magical, and it is so fun soaking it in each week. So much drama, so much fun! Just as we wistfully look back on 2010, 2012, and 2014....we could be doing the same toward this year my Duck-Brother. Completely agree. How cool is that?
  22. If you are a tight end....how could NOT want to play in this offense? Whew! Ferguson, McCormick and Herbert are glad they came here...
  23. As someone is geared to the opposite of you, (NOT the engineering type) ...I am quite delighted to hear your thoughts. Makes me feel that much better because some areas are in my wheel-house, but not this.
  24. There could be other elements going on: 1) They do not resemble the linebackers Lanning had at Georgia, as Nakobe Dean, the star, was only 217 lbs. Lanning wants lean, fast, athletic LBs that can cover, rush the passer and talented enough to hold up to the run game. We don't have the prototype he wants for our defense yet. 2) They may not be as good as we thought? The Bruin TD out of the backfield, was slow recognition by Flowe, when he was clearly responsible for the RB release on that side. Then he actually slowed up, and then put on the jets too late at the edge. This is inexperience, IMHO. I've already detailed how Sewell was responsible for two TDs given up to Stanford. He went to Flowe's gap...and Flowe was already there, while the 'Furd RB ran through the open gap that Sewell was supposed to be at. Then, Sewell was slow to recognize a wheel route and did not have the wheels to catch up. 3) We might be in the process of implementing a defensive strategy unseen at Oregon before. See my Thursday article on it, as I am working on it right now. I think it might be a touch of all three?
  25. The 5-Star OL who verballed to Iowa might be rethinking things about now...
