Thanks for information. Have u heard a timeline on 8 game league season? Could it start next yr?
It could. I would usually say no change before 2023, if then. But with negotiation of a new media rights deal just around the corner, The Pac-12 powers-that-be may want to assure a 2022 champ game between the 2 best teams? Another unknown? When will The Alliance OOC games begin? The Alliance games make it imperative to go to 8 regularly scheduled games. With the Alliance game many teams will be playing 2 P5 teams OOC.

What if there is reincarnation? Then the Huskies would look to bring back "The Dawgfather" Don James.
DJ, Nick Saban's and Gary Pinckel's, mentor. Today, Billy Joe Hobert could have received the $50K over the table. No NCAA trouble for James and he likely would have coached for another decade?

At Vegas Insider, Oregon opened -16, current is -14. This is interesting, considering their games last week, Ohio State opened -19 at home against Purdue, current is -20.
I want to wait to place my bets until this evening's rankings. But I certainly have my eye on Purdue +20. In its last 27 red zone trips the OH ST O has managed 3 TDs. OH ST has blown out the junk teams but has struggled against every good team it has played.

Jon I know I heard when they hired the new Commissioner that the PAC would be going to 8 conference games instead of 9 and when it would happen. Did u hear anything about that or anyone else for that matter?

A conference football committee is looking at all aspects of football this season. PO-wise playing more than 8 regularly scheduled games a season is a no go. The 9th game should be played Championship weekend. No team that played 9 regularly scheduled conference games has won the Playoff. Also and it is being discussed, the smart PO move even prior to expansion would be to get rid of divisions. The two best teams regardless of division need to play in the conference champ game.
GK simply has to score a better media deal where the games are not late night filler for ESPN. The #3 team in the country, which is where Oregon will be ranked after tonight, should not be kicking off at 10:30 on the Right Coast. THIS hurts recruiting. You can bet other conferences make a point of the lousy Pac-12 Network and the lousy KO times.
But GK is certainly not helped by the conference at large, being so bad OOC. Thus, 2 MW teams ranked and 1 Pac-12 team.

Jimmy Lake is suspect as a HC, but not as a DC.
Play a 3-1-7 D, Jimmy's D vs WSU, against the Cougars with the 1, Noah Sewell, spying the RB. As Charles noted in a call today, the WSU O is predicated in part, on the QB quickly releasing the ball. So, 'pressuring' by clogging the field with DBs seems to work better vs WSU than going all out to rush the passer.

The Stanford duo that loves dissing the Ducks. I made through a 7:30 KO at UW because of a falling back clock change.
But 10:30 KO vs WSU? I'll be tuning in on Sunday and fast forwarding during any broadcaster inane comments. Way to go Pac-12! Make sure to hide that light under a bushel.

Maybe UGA. But Bama? I think this Bama team especially if the starting center does not get healthy will be pushed by Arkansas, at Auburn and if it wins the SEC W, I do not see Bama beating UGA in the SEC champ game. Bama rushed for 6 yards against LSU Saturday. Against an LSU D that due to injury is nowhere as talented as the group UCLA ran roughshod over.
My guess? 1. UGA 2 Ohio State 3 Oregon 4 Cincinnati? If I am correct which is very doubtful, that would mean a rematch vs OH ST in the Cotton Bowl

Oh I disagree. Bryant didn't play USC types often enough to give him that type of credit. Not to mention Eddie Robinson did have enough talent to beat the Tide if he had the opportunity.
My reference: AFL teams quickly forcing a merger with the NFL using historically black college talent. Robinson had the best talent and consistently defeated his peers with said talent.
Bear Bryant never faced the "other" very good talent. When he first encountered it, he got smoked. He left before providing a sample to match what Saban had done in a much shorter time (at that).
Different era for sure, but like MLB ( and Ruth never facing the likes of Black and Latino pitchers), that era's numbers are heavily skewed.
Head to head, I'd take Saban in a mili second.
And Bryant had no cap on his roster size. Bryant did do 1 thing Saban never will do, he won an SEC title at Kentucky.

I would have gone with a kidney punch, followed by a knee drop and a kick to the back of your head. But I'm a Super Greybeard, we have to fight dirty!
So happy you lived to right this fine take.
Lake has entered: Save Your HC Butt Phase 1. Along with Dan Mullen at Florida, he is jettisoning assistants. "See. I am willing to make moves for The Team. Wait until next year after I bring in all-CFB assistant coaches.
You will not hear this: "It's not my fault! It's the fault of the guys who I hired; guys who report to me. So get off my back! Or, hand me my multi-million dollar exit fee and I'm gone."

Absolutely, without doubt. the worst thing about football is the injuries. latracey's take is spot on. However, it is rare to lose your OC to emergency surgery. At least Puddles is still standing.
On its undefeated run under Joe Burrow, when Coach O was worshipped in Baton Rogue, in 12 of 15 games that season the Tigers played its original starting lineup. In the other 3 games it was only 1 starter down. When it comes to injuries luck matters. This was extraordinary good luck for that LSU team.
No team is immune. Bama lost its starting center early in the game vs LSU last Saturday and the Bama OL was mauled by the LSU D, a D with many guys out due to injury. Bama had a net 6 yards rushing against a team that UCLA ran roughshod over.
As Steven A notes, Next Man Up. Remember the team won in Columbus without Mr. T and Flowe. And Always Say Dye is handling the extra reps and playing the best ball of his career. And also credit J M's excellent play calling and the outstanding play of a banged up OL. Oregon owned both LOS in Seattle.
"We few, we very few. We band of brothers." The heavily outnumbered Brits won at Agincourt. Ducks will do the same. On to the Cotton/Orange Bowl!

Right wouldn't u agree he's probably the GOAT and still it wasn't immediate even with all of his advantage
If you do not think Saban is the GOAT you best not be looking at the stats?
With a young and beat up OL, 6 yards rushing vs LSU, and a 1st year starter at QB this season, this is one of his best coaching efforts. Nick does not just win on signing days, he coaches the 4 and 5* guys up.

Love MC. His intensity, integrity, and love of the game ( and his players).
When I think of physicality though, Kirby Smart comes to mind first and foremost. They only reason UGA doesn't reach the playoffs because ESPN knows better than HSN out two SEC teams in. They ARE usually one of the four best CFB every year.
We are canyons apart from the product KS puts on the field. With slightly less talent. I'm completely frustrated at present. But I want Cristobal to stay. It's going to take him as long as it took Brooks (even with the talent). Cristobal seems to be in love with close games because his teams just can't close the deal by the third quarter, even when they are I'm the driver's seat.
Mike, good stuff. Bama rushed for 6 yards vs LSU. I do not think that Bama beats UGA this season.

I disagree with most of the complaints people have with MC because u still have to give him time. Maybe he won't master the areas of concerns that people have. But in the history of CFB how many coaches have won titles compared with how many have coached. It's a rarity.
If U look at which team's were in the initial CPO the HC's are all in the Saban tree. I don't believe this is a coincidence.
Look at Georgia and K. Smart I believe this is his 8th season of top 5 recruiting classes. He's made the PO 1 time before this and never won it. I bet the Georgia fans were complaining also.
Now he looks like he has a team to win it all.
All I am saying that if MC is given time he may get us the Natty we all want so bad. I know I would play for the guy. I respect him that much and hope he stays and finishes what he has started.
Saban had 1 losing season at Bama, his first. And when he arrived at Bama he had already won a title at LSU. He won a title at Bama within his first 4 years as the Tide HC.

I believe this prediction matches what I predicted? But Oregon will be 3; the Ducks are not jumping the Tide. Why? Because of Bama's and LSU's reputations and the conference both play in.
And also for failing to put up at least 1 more TD in Seattle.
Good news for the Ducks was both Baylor and MSU losing. The Wake loss means the ACC is PO out.
Oklahoma is at Baylor Saturday and I expect a 4 Q game in Waco. Oklahoma taking an L could really benefit OR down the road. IMO, a 12-1 OR with a W in Columbus gets in over a 12-1 OK with no signature OOC W and a 'bad win' vs Tulsa.
I do not think a 2L Bama is in and I don't see this Bama team, 6 yards rushing vs LSU, defeating Georgia. UGA has had more than 14 points scored on it in a game but the D has not surrendered more than 14 points in a game all season.

Pac 12 feels like the Mosh Pit, Thunderdome, get in there and hope you come out with some teeth. At the beginning of the year, I would have thought ASU, USC, UCLA as the strength of the South. The North led by Oregon, Washington or Washington State.
The Covid year, did not allow for any real growth. Really could not tell if coaches and systems clicked with the teams or players. But honestly, I could not tell if Arroyo ever really left. That, in my mind is a Cristobal problem.
I do not expect Moorhead to be here next year with all the openings already. Could his health be an issue to taking on the HC reins? I absolutely believe that if his health is dependent on less stress, he stays at Oregon. If not, he will elect to set his own path some where else. Ultimately, Mario needs to find some style he becomes better at as time goes along. That has not happened and not for the last four plus years in my opinion.
That is NOT to say he is not a good to great recruiter. He is and expects his coaches to be also. But the football side of recruiting is not panning out as well as it should. You have to do something with the near talent and elite talent that are jumping on board. Progress to the next level and stability at the current level.
This is not the NFL factories as is Clemson, Alabama, Ohio State, Georgia or LSU. This is a step above Oklahoma, Texas, USC, Michigan, Penn State and FSU. These team have recruited well and I bet over the last decade been in the top 25 maybe, the top 15.
Please do not look at where FSU is now. It is sad and we had something to do with their current spiral because of the 2015 Rose Bowl playoff for the CFP. I am not a Jimbo Fisher fan, to me he is Sumlin 2.0. And I bring this up as Sumlin and Fisher are two posers whom in JF's case won a championship and Mario reminds me of him. Everything is just falling into place, the Stars have aligned and the GOD's are speaking. No I have not been drinking or taking drugs but sure feels like it when I watch Oregon play. Jeckle and Hyde of the PAC 12.
But we need to put our players into positions where they can and will excel drawing NFL attention. That NFL teams will pick through the talent we have because of Cristobal, his staff and how we elevate the talent. Until then, Mario has things to get better at, then build his coaching tree.
It ain't easy. Clemson slipped badly this season + Clemson still has lots of studs on its roster. The QB position in CFB really matters. Easier to win if you have a Watson and a Lawrence at QB.
To date, Mario has not exactly been a quarterback whisperer. Herbert was not allowed to play to his potential and OR has a bunch of rating ranking stars in the QB room who cannot beat out a competitive but journeyman QB in Brown.
To win a PO these days you need a QB who will be playing at the next level.

Great take. But this is what Brian Kelly was 'forced' to do this season. Kelly is normally a 1 QB guy. And the schedule for ND has turned out not to be that rigorous which allows for experimentation. Jack Coan coming over from Wisconsin came with the same game manager skills as did AB at Oregon. The ND O was bad before the new OL guys started to get it and the ND run game really picked up.
If you haven't done so, make to South Bend for a game. Great place to watch CFB.
